Thanks for everything you do man. I see a lot of people who aren't appreciative or only combat what you give for information. We have a very small church, 50 on a good day. We use multitracks, a QU32, SM58's, with pro presenter, and an Atem mini pro to do our online everything. I currently mix live in the sanctuary which isn't the easiest and I'm still learning, but without your videos this past year,I wouldn't be where I am. So thank you, I appreciate them.

You can also control the videohub and projector signals with a Streamdeck running companion. I have a page dedicated to our projectors and I can send any of our 20 outputs to any of the 3 projectors with the push of a button.

We received our ATEM Mini Extreme which replaced both an ATEM Mini Pro and and an ATEM Mini. We also have the M1 Mac mini. We faced the same issue of trying to get live video to the house projectors and solved it the same way you did by pulling out the unused ATEM Mini and using it as a video switcher. Works like a charm switching between the livestream and ProPresenter and I like that I can use transitions when making the switch or do an instantaneous hard cut.

@@kevinperez910 I’m not a ProPresenter guy but you feed ProPresenter from the computer running ProPresenter to one of the HDMI inputs on the ATEM Mini Extreme. ProPresenter can output different looks to each output. We get the livestream to the ATEM Mini by using one of the HDMI outputs on the ATEM Mini Extreme and running the program feed from there into one of the HDMI inputs on the ATEM Mini.

NDI is an amazing method of routing video from anywhere to anywhere using your Ethernet network. We have our projector on NDI and so can connect it to OBS broadcast output or EasyWorship lyrics/presentation. There is a webserver in the NDI Studio Monitor app (running on a small PC connected to the projector) so we can change it during a service from OBS program feed to EasyWorship and back again. It's a brilliant way of showing our pre-recorded worship sets to our in building congregation as well as our on-line congregation. It gets rid of most of the HDMI cables. An interesting point is that broadcasters are moving away from SDI into ethernet based transport (SMPTE 2022/2110) to simplify cabling and I can see why (but NDI is much simpler than the broadcast solution).

We are using a BM ATEM Television Studio Pro HD to handle the signal to the projector. The Atem switcher has inputs from 2 separate ProPresenter computers, for easy switch between different content prepared, for more than 1 to help operate CG, and for backup if the running ProPresenter should stop for some reason. That has helped us so many times. Also functions as sound switch so only 1 pair of inputs are to be used for the audio mixer. If there are extra songs added in the last minute, a translation missing, message notes or slides that need to be added or changed, it can all be done by CG operator nr. 2 while another is running the program on the other ProPresenter. Have added a simple 4x4 matrix HDMI switcher to handle the multiview from the 2 ProPresenter computers with a scaler in between to handle the EDID, HDCP etc. so ProPresenter does not crash during a change of display (Was a big problem before ProPresenter 7) Also having a overview camera feed and a copy of the program out to switch to on the 4x4 HDMI switcher, with extra monitors for CG operators, light and sound engineer to switch between and use.

Hey Jake, we run one Blackmagic 4K 1 m/e and utilize the aux outs. You could do the same with the TV studio HD, it would cost less than the two Atem Minis. Stream out your program feed and send your projectors on the aux out. When you want to go “IMAG” just have a macro to switch aux to program, then when you are done have a macro to switch aux (projector) back to the propresenter input. There’s a lot of advantages to running things this way. I’m sure there’s advantages to the way you are running things too.

We plan on using one as a simple switcher for presentation/DVD/poor man's IMAG/surprise laptop. Running Proclaim on a PC, ATEM 1 m/e for 4 camera switching. Interesting to see if IMAG latency is any worse than we are getting with our Kramer VP719 switcher/scaler. Had to upgrade from the 719 to the ATEM mini for our new laser projectors with higher resolution.

What we do at our church is have you atem television switcher and that have a dedicated Aux feed that we feed the projectors then for ease of use for other people that don’t know how to use it. We put a stream deck out that just has macros to fire different things to the projector.

9:14 Yes! We occasionally have a guest speaker who will bring their own laptop and presentation. Having that extra input would be ideal because these things tend to happen at the very last minute and the last thing I want to do is change a bunch of inputs 5 minutes before service.

To get audio out of the ATEM we used a cheap audio extractor from Amazon. The program audio goes out of the HDMI out port so just add it inline wherever your sending program feed out and wala. You can find them with 3.5 and rca outputs. I wish the mini had a separate audio out but oh well.

I have the same issue in our Bible class where I am splitting my computer HDMI out into two screens, I have to reconnect each individually for the projector and TV to find it. I would love to get to a system like this, but 90% of the items I use, are what I can afford and buy myself. I am also usually the only one running both the soundboard in-house, the soundboard for live stream, and the cameras and switcher. For now, I have an Elgato Stream Deck to help get the two different camera views, with or without our presentation (we are still using PPT for now), and then just our presentation. It is working for the most part, but a lot of ways to improve as we get more money and I learn more. As my knowledge is limited, I use SLOBS to create the scenes and to live stream to YT.

We are using an ATEM Studio HD with the AUX OUT feeding one of our two sanctuary projectors. The other projector is fed directly off of our iMac Pro (running Pro Presenter). With this set up we are able to send any of the ATEM inputs to our #1 projector. It just so happens that we patched one of the program outs into ATEM INPUT #8... which means that we can route a program feed to our #1 projector via the AUX channel out. The switching of the AUX OUT source is remotely controlled by our STREAMDECK. One use of this set up is to have a dedicated laptop running SKYPE. We are able to see and hear the FAR END live as the pastor interacts with them. The congregation can see computer content on one screen and SKYPE on the other. If we want both screens to show the iMac Pro, we simply change the source of the AUX OUT. Again, we do this change remotely with our STREAM DECK and it does not interfere with the normal switching that takes place on the ATEM. THIS WORKS WELL FOR US. Jim G.

I was thinking of doing the same with a spare ATEM mini I have here, with the advantage over the currently-used cheap switcher that the ATEM provides 4 concurrent HDMI end-points that do not vanish when they are not in use. Essentially, the ATEM mini could replace a Kramer Switcher/Scaler in many scenarios at a much lower cost, with the minor inconvenience that you need an HDMI audio extractor to grab the audio for the FOH, whereas the Kramer boxes have that functionality built in.

Hey just a tip, look into companion, it could have solved your switching issue with the hub. You would have only needed to run a sdi from the decklink card to the hub for the extended desktop instead of getting another switcher with multiple connections. Im just trying to say it increases the risk of something going wrong and increases troubleshooting time. Also when paired with an elgato stream deck its a really powerful tool, especially when trying to consolidate operators.

Good to know about the companion app and using the streamdeck to control the hub. I still like the switcher solution since we can crossfade and make some smoother transitions. To my knowledge, the video hub can switch the feeds but it's always a hard cut.

interesting you bring up that "bug"... I am wondering if the ATEM Mini Pro and the ATEM mini Pro ISO handle inactive HDMI inputs .. For example the ISO is built to record individual inputs as a file therefore it would have to be 'active/active' else if not recording it would be "active/standby " the computer's GPU would sense inactivity as a "powered down monitor" or disconnected. All this explanation to set up for the following question: Would the ATEM Mini ISO NOT have that issue? and would it behoove Blackmagic design to update the ATEM Mini PRO's firmware to prevent that from happening. Great Content... Keep on Keeping on.

Using an ATEM mini pro ($600) seems a little overkill for doing basic video source switching. You could get a 4k 5 input video switcher for less than $50. Is there a reason for using the ATEM specifically, like being able to control it with macros or that it has options for fade in/out time etc? Also, a little trick with the ATEM mini pro (if using OBS), if you are wanting a Program out but you are using the HDMI out for Multiview (so using usb for webcam), just right click on your program feed on OBS and go to "Fullscreen Projector (Preview)" and select what screen you want to send it to. This allows you to create multiple outputs, so would be perfect if you are using a Decklink duo and have multiple screens in your building that you want to send the livestream feed to, eg; Foyer, Baby room, Kids church etc.
