I’m a goalkeeper, and the amount of times I’ve pulled off amazing saves and saved my team from loosing no one really recognises, but I remember I made one bad mistake which lead to a goal and everyone seems to remember it. Goalkeepers mistakes are magnified because they’re the last line of defence and if you make a mistake it often leads to a goal. If a player makes a mistake outfield chances are the other outfield players will rectify it or the goalkeeper will save it, which from experience has happened a lot. But no one is there to save the goalkeeper.

The number one problem for a lot of these goalies is that, despite being taught to catch with their hands, they try to catch or trap the ball with their bodies. As a soccer or fútbol goalie, you want to use your hands as much as possible. For some of these net minders, trying to trap the ball with or against their bodies may be a sign of low confidence because they don't trust their skills/abilities with their hands.
