WORST IMAGINABLE SCENARIO! PLOW TRUCK BROKE DOWN AT 3AM!

Brian's Lawn Maintenance

Күн бұрын

We had 5" of heavy wet slushy snow roll in over the last 24 hours, which made a mess of things up here in Novi MI. We were doing our best to plow that snow and get our sites done until the new work truck broke down.
Not sure what our issue is with the truck just yet, but we, unfortunately, had to get it towed last night at 3am. Hopefully it's a quick simple fix and we can get back on the road for the next event this weekend.

A backup plow truck is a must. Everyone should buy one as soon as they can afford one. Doesn’t need to be new or fancy. Just needs to be reliable enough to get ‘er done in a pinch. We just had a 2020 with 20,000 miles blow a transmission. Had we not had the backup truck we would have had some very unhappy clients and even more headaches. Great video Brian, hope the service department can help you out.

That's unfortunate the truck broke down but thank you for showing the good, bad, and the ugly. I do feel your pain. In December we received recorded breaking snow falls in my area of Alaska and then a big wind storm. Left us with impassible roads in some areas. My two trucks both broke down 2-3 times each during that time. Never been so stressed in my life. Now I have a new(mostly) truck and hoping for more reliability.

@Brian's Lawn Maintenance you tripped the inertia switch. The switch activates when it senses an impact. When activated it shuts off your fuel pump and wont allow the truck to restart. It is design for when you get into an accident . Idk where they are on the new fords but the old ones it was right behind the trim under the passenger side dash. All you have to do is push the switch back in. Easy fix can be done by yourself. Sucks you didnt know that and had to get a tow. Fords are good trucks they dont just break down after 5k miles.

I’ve got two 3/4 plow work trucks with 9.2’ Vplows. My daily driver is an f150 lariat. I just put a Boss HTX on the f-150 for this very reason. It’s not going to have the same productivity, and I don’t intend to use it much, but it can do the job in a pinch. Plus, it’s a nicer truck, has a better ride, and is cheaper to maintain and drive.

Definitely Check your fuel cut off switch (inertia switch). It's as simple as a reset button. Vehicles are equipped with them so when there's a collision the fuel shuts off to avoid combustion or etc. I would guess the speed bump "tricked" the truck into thinking there was a collision. I've had to reset mine in a jarring situation before.

Seen a guy hitting his car and throwing ice chunks at it. Blamed the plow and the plow company had to pay for body work and new paint job. There was no video proof it wasn’t the plow other then when you looked you saw all the snow that hit the cars.(soft snow). Made ice hitting then possible. Plow company had no insurance so was all out of pocket. Essentially plowed snow that season to paint someone’s car.
