The House of lords. Is not full of hereditary peers. Before the House of Lords act of 1999 there was 758 hereditary peers. after the act this was reduced down to 90, and is now down to 78. They only get money if they attend The Lords around £350 with expenses. You can look how much the have been paid on the House of Lord website. Some are just ordinary people Like Baroness Grey-Thompson (sports for the disable), Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon ( Mother of Steven Lawrence who was chassed down and killed), Baron Sugar ( Alan Sugar started going round house's in Hackney selling goods at the age of 13/14 , working up to be the owner of Amstrad, he is the face of The Apprentice. The fee he get for that he donates to Great Ormond Street Hospital.)

the main reson that UK growth is slower than the EU right now is that the growth that the UK experienced after removing Covid restrictions bringing us back to normal has occurred and we now return to normal growth. The EU is now experiencing their post Covid growth but will fall back to their normal growth. So growth is a terrible measure of anything right now.

The so called promise on the side of the bus, (ie 350 million quid a week) was in fact a suggestion. In reality, since brexit, the NHS budget has increased by more than that. The NHS is not short of money, it is short of good management. There is also extra pressure on it because it is viewed by quite a few people, illegally living in the UK, as an IHS (International Health Service).

@@stephenhodgkinson2049 The NHS has more money now than ever! It has almost never worked effectively, it has always complained of a shortage of money. 48% of NHS personnel are non-clinical. Anyway, we don't need to worry now, because the diversity officers will sort it all out.

We have 2 dogs (a German Shepherd and a Dogue de Bordeaux - both big dogs) and they make a quarter mile circuit around any that we see, especially if the Swans have young. Evil buggers.

To be fair Yvette most homes nowadays have mixer taps, including mine. But if you live in a period home, you’re more likely to see a separate cold and hot tap. As for the U.K. economy, it’s not 100% accurate to blame the country’s current slow growth on Brexit. Yes, it’s played a part, and we always knew in the short term things will be difficult, in some areas, but over time, in the longterm the U.K. economy will prevail. But the Ukraine crisis and the unforeseen Covid pandemic with its disabling restrictions played a hefty part as well, and now the restrictions have been lifted, the U.K. economy will slowly, but surely rise back to normal levels. I do agree, the government was wrong how they make the rules for us all, but during the pandemic flouted the lockdown restrictions, because my Aunt died alone during the pandemic, and wasn’t allowed to have any family members present. And I attended her funeral online, when I was unwell, which was surreal because it didn’t feel real… But do I wish to see them go? No, because Labour was doing it as well, and weighing up it all, I feel Boris is the best man for running this country, which will take sometime to bear fruit, after previous governments failings to deal with investing in new infrastructure, so, the U.K. can be energy self sufficient. At least with Boris he’s given the go ahead to British company Rolls Royce to build a series of small modular reactors across the U.K. by 2031. And to build 8 brand new nuclear power stations over the next 8 yrs. As well as, giving out licences to companies to drill for North Sea oil again, until the new technologies come online, alongside renewables too, like solar and wind power.

NHS waiting list - jeez why could they be so long currently 🤔; not like there’s a backlog due to .. I don’t know .. a bad flu outbreak / global epidemic or something? Mortgages : go to a broker NOT to your bank , daft as that sounds! Use a specialist well regarded etc conveyancing solicitor- so much of the delay is legal delays. 🙄

Don't really disagree with most of them. I can see your point of view on the ones I don't really agree with. How British is that! A polarising list! When I've been to The States, they think we're Aussies! Met some Aussies also holidaying and they were fed up with being called Brits! The solution, a a laugh and a few beers! Filter your water before boiling the kettle, may help it be quieter The banks give you the inquisition, its a horrible, stressful process. Swans, apparently, they can't break your arm, but they are suspicious! Umbrellas are a waste of time, pockey, inside out things, buy a hat! Glad you're back and hope things are getting much better for you.

UK economic cycles are different to the EU so at the moment UK economic growth has slowed but will pick up while EU growth falters. The real benefit of Brexit is keeping our democracy intact, to be able to dismiss our leaders every 4 or 5 years whereas the ruling, unelected EU Commission cannot be democratically removed by the people, you are stuck with them.

Brexiteers will blame the EU for Brexit because the EU wouldn't give them the sort of EU that they wanted. Well, as a Brit who is still half-way sane I would ask why would, should it/they? It's as simple as that. There doesn't have to be any debate about it, there doesn't have to be any rationalisation or justification for it. It just is. Period. Like it or lump it. And Brexiteers have decided to lump it and THEN continue to complain that "It's not fair". They want to have their cake and eat and wail like crazy when an adult tells them, no you can't. On top of which they blame the EU as if it was a nation, a political entity in it's right which is so daft it defies explanation and you simply can't rationalise with them because they simply don't want to hear it.

Brexit, whoever voted in favour should be shot. As an Englishman living in an EU country the cost of importing anything from the UK is now at least 23% more, that is just our VAT being applied (to both goods and shipping costs). Some companies have always sold to people living outside the UK in non and EU countries so are familiar with customs procedures and deduct UK VAT from the invoice, others don't so I often pay two lots of tax. UK and ours. Unfortunately I had not kept my UK voting rights up to date so was ineligible to take part in the Referendum, probably like many others living in the EU. Some of my favourite products are now not on shop shelves, double whammy.

@@Cootsy69 At least when the UK were a member the smaller countries had a friend against some of the ridiculous proposals of the French and one with a veto. I've only been an ex pat for 25 years and the kids now have their own families back there now and get very annoyed with the hassle from customs when visiting. So do I on returning from visiting them. @@Violet-to4qq I was initially against the UK joining the EEC in the 70's but as I was a truck driver at the time doing runs to Italy and back there was a lot less customs paperwork after than under the previous TIR customs paperwork, reams of it in multiple languges. Maybe that system should be reintroduced as it did not involve the paperwork being checked against the load if the customs seals on the trailer/container doors/curtains were intact at border crossings. Sealed and checked by Customs at point of loading or the first border. Under the new rules UK registered trucks cannot engage in 'tramping' in the EU, which means no multi drops or collections. An hindrance and more costly to both exporters, importers and haulage companies. If it was not for EU freedom of movement I would not have been able to emigrate and work in an EU country so hassle free some 25 years ago. The current extreme fluctuations in the £ - € exchange rate has an impact on my UK pension paid in £. The exchange taking place in London so my pension is buying €, it would be better for me if my bank received it in £.

Only a proportion of the Lords are hereditary. The others are appointed because of their knowledge and experience so that acts of the house of commons can be checked. It clearly maintains the status quo, but serves an essential function.... needs to be reformed, but a majority of the commons can never agree how! James Bond is way out of date and the films have not been better than other stuff out there since the 1970s!!! Nostalgia a go go! Save me! Most taps I encounter ARE mixer taps???????? We have one sink with separate taps and three with mixers.
