Depends how strong you are. I think it'll get the job done for many but the weight stack isn't as heavy, correct?

@@NoFate247 Thanks for replying! yes... I'm not really that strong and wanted to jumpstart training again after years of being behind the computer all the time :) its weight stack is 2 x 165 lbs (75 kgs) (2:1 ratio for 82.5 lbs per pulley)

I went back and forth for awhile. I looked at Titan and Rep fitness since they both sell these. Went a little further and purchased an Rft rack that has the cable pulleys like the functional trainer does with the weight stacks. Glad you threw in the maintenance tips that gets overlooked often in home gyms.

Glad to hear it's still wicked awesome. The 200 lb weight stack, the 64-inch width and the aluminum pulleys clinched it for me. I was considering the REP FT-5000, but for my basement gym, the 85.5" height was too tall and the 58-inch width just wasn't enough. 200 lb is all I need, a torn rotator cuff, bicep tendon and labrum in my left shoulder means my days of heavy lifting are behind me. I have 3 other Titan pieces in my gym so I had no worries about the build quality and that made the choice easy. Wish I had been able to get it for $2,000.

My home gym doesn’t “feel” like my old gym but I’ve gotten stronger in my home gym then I did at my old gym due to not having as much distractions and also my side of the garage is strictly gym stuff so I can get in that mindset. Think if I ever wanted a functional trainer I’d get the Ares that Rep is coming out with for my PR 5000 V2 but for now my lat/low row attachment gets the job done. Great video!

Hadn't thought of it before, but ... my home gym vibe is definitely on the pesticide, spare gas, and old car side. Recent bonus is a cardboard box soaked with leaking cans of oil and transmission fluid, apparently - or is that just seepage from the recent snow? A functional trainer can change all that? Hmmm... I'm going to punt such thoughts to spring season. Go Pats!

Hey Luke. If you grab a multi attachment from Steadfast for like $30 and some short chains from Amazon for like $15, you can do a lot of functional trainer type movements like flys with your rack mounted lat pulldown. That’s what I do with my single pulley system and it works great.

@@LukesGarageGym yeah it’s awesome and cheap man! If you need a visual, you can look up the Ironmaster Ultimate Row Handle with the chain fly kit. Home Gym Hacks and Reviews did some videos on how to use it. The Steadfast attachment can do the exact same thing.

Very useful video. I was lucky to get the Costco Inspire after the price came down, so I got the cheapest Inspire Fitness FTX for like $750. I can’t say anything bad about that. The main issue I have is, there’s no way to do something like proper squats with this machine.

Appreciate this review, although I'm getting to it late (2 years) June 2024. Apparently there have been new entries in this functional trainer realm. I'm considering purchasing a REP Arcadia. Besides having less weight in the stacks unless we purchase the add-on package, how does the REP trainer compare to the Titan, in your view?

I'm thinking of purchasing this product and I appreciate your review. My basement ceiling is 83 inches in height. Do you think setting it up will be an issue with only 1 inch of clearance? Appreciate any feedback you may have.

Titan is a 2-1 ratio meaning 200lbs per side is really 100lbs per side . Have you ever considered getting a pin with a horn, where you can then add additional weight that you would use on a barbell?

i badly want to buy it but i would customise it. i want weights in the middle part as well, not just in each sides. i do have a multi gym. im so happy with the quality but it does not activate my muscles :( but i dont want to sell it but i want to use it in order to combine it with the newer one if i decide to get one :D this video is very helpful :D

actually thinking of getting 2 of titans wall mounted pully systems i think it would do the same thing but a hell of a lot less oh and those are plate loaded. any thoughts on that idea??

Nice review. I personally don't know where these people get thousands and thousands of dollars for gym equipment and seem to have unlimited space. I live in a 400-square-foot efficiency apartment and make peanuts as a security guard. That said, I'm rearranging my tiny space to accommodate the Body Solid PFT100 functional trainer, the cheapest one on the market with very high standards. It's one to four thousand dollars cheaper than its competition. But I love that the industry has downsized cable machines to fit in relatively small spaces. LOVE cable exercises. BTW, the PFT100 can be upgraded to TWO 210 weight stacks.

Hi! I'm looking into buying this my only concern is I'm 6'3" and am worried at the highest pin point, is the hook too short for pull down exercises. It'd help me tremendously if you could provide a height from floor to hook at the highest pin point!

Get the GymPin or Bare Steel stacked weight pin so you can add enough weight for low rows. I have the Bare steel stacked weight pin. It works great

I have all the rogue bike row etc. So for cardio my favorite but my functional trainer is the best because pull up bar so many exercises etc

I don't see a point in going for the titan fitness functional trainer when the price between the two are so similar, and rep fitness is just the better company. Not to mention the fact that their warranty is lifetime for the frame, where as titan only offers 1 year max for everything.

@@NoFate247 No I've just been browsing functional trainers since I've recently gotten a home. Funny enough, I just went with titan today since I was able to snag one on sale while adding a discount code on top of the sales price, so it was about $2100. I also got sick of waiting for Rep Fitness to restock theirs. Hopefully it turns out to be a good buy.

All my gym equipment is in my front room of my house and no I don't have a functional trainer but I do have a body solid 3,000 and hulkfit half rack Titan preacher bench and Titan fid bench and dumbbells from 15lbs to 50 lbs and kensui handles and bands and 350lbs olympic weight plates and curl bar and olympic bar

@@DrBruceVDPT So when I bought this machine, it was 500 less than Rep's. I'd now probably go with Rep's since the price points aren't a big deal AND many of the handles that come with Titan's functional trainer, I don't use.

I really want to like the video but that hat. Oh that hat. Go Bills! My home gym is in the back room of the house. There is nothing there besides gym equipment. Power rack with lat pull down system, treadmill, calf raise machine, cheap leg curl/leg extension bench, Titan leg press. So it might not feel like a commercial gym but the only reason to be in that room is to exercise.

@@NoFate247 Right now it would be more storage options. Wall mounts for the bars and plates. I have my bars in a Titan 5 bar holder right now. It's full and 2 of the bars are a hex bar and a multigrip bar. Little too big for that.

Have you not had the problem where under 40 pounds, the cable is too loose and makes the machine inoperable? It drags and catches so badly it is not smooth enough to even use unless you put on a decent amount of weight. When you try and tighten the cable, the holes misalign on the weight stack so you cannot even plug the weight stick into the stack of weights. Titan is useless and will not answer emails, calls, or provide a solution. I do not recommend Titan products or this piece of garbage trainer.
