I have used the id44 over the last 4 years of tracking in my home studio and it’s an absolutely cracking interface. Pristine conversion that I did a shoot with against rme, Apollo, presonus and focusrite and I thought the id44 won over them all. I’m using mostly api preamps but added an asp880 via the Adat input and it’s absolute heaven. In my opinion you can not beat the id44 for the price vs quality component.

I assume the main scroll wheel is the same in that the indents/notches are roughly 3db steps? I find this annoying as it makes automation recording really clunky and not nearly fine enough. Really hoping this has been improved?? Would much prefer just a nice smooth, tactile, light resistance rotary.

I just got the MK I from Sweetwater for 500 USD as they are currently clearing them out to make room for the MK II. For my needs, the MK I is still gonna be a killer unit. If you were checking one out, the MK I is currently $200 USD off. Got me on the Audient train anyhow. I've recorded through an ASP 8024, if the preamps are the same as that, $125 USD per preamp is a steal. The MK II is asking of $175 USD per preamp and is still a great deal! I mean it's like buying 4 studio quality preamps and getting a set of Burr Brown converters and a 2 channel headphone amp for free. Not to mention 16 channels of ADAT expandability. Either way you go should be pretty great.

It certainly looks good to me, but it's out of my price range. Can't really expect a lower price with these specs, though.

I had the ID14 for a few years and really loved it, but too many bills.........Fast forward to today and I have been lusting after this interface, but the pric is up there..... Today on my fav on-line outlet I found the Mk1 for $200 less and grabed it. I was impressed with the mic pre's in the ID14 Mk1 so I figured I would go in debt for and 18 month payment plan.... BUT the Mk2 looks like it has major improvments under the hood where it counts, and if I would NOT have found the Mk1 for such a low price I would have grabbed the Mk2..... Forget the 44... When will the ancient id22 be upgraded? Probably never, now that the same priced evo 16 is out. Too bad, as the 22 has about all the features of the 44, less some in/outs, and is $200 less expensive, better suited for my home recording. The 44 is overkill for me. The 22 has exactly what I need but it's a dinosaur in need of an upgrade.

I can't even get mine to send through 3L on Studio One 5. Pipeline isn't reading nothing and neither is my outboard gear. I'm about to get rid of it.

Yes, I am weighing the pros and cons of this and an RME for eventual purchase.

I’ve been enjoying using the id14, the one feature I wish they could add to the Id button is a mix/monitor control. Would be really handy to have the option to make adjustments on the interface (like you can on the id4). I must admit I prefer having controls on the interface itself, just what you get used to I suppose, but after your review of the evo 16, if I needed the additional channels it looks hard beat for the price.

I didn't get audient yet but lol for that price i rather go for the EVO than this one. 😅

Having 4 phantom powered preamps is always nice and the front 2 can also be used as Hi-Z/DI for electric guitars. Not sure why anyone would use ADAT on a desktop unit when ADAT expansions are usually rack mounted? No midi but you get 2 headphone outputs and 4 monitor outputs with a USBc computer audio interface. I am not so sure where its supposed to fit into the user market? I bought the Motu M4 cos I wanted to take 4 stems from a mixer, lead vocals/guitar and the bands stereo feed it was half the price with midi, 4 outputs and 4 inputs but only 2 have preamps/Hi-Z and 2 line inputs no ADAT only one headphone output which I never use anyway and its also USBc. I also have ADAT but its all rack mounted connected to my main 8 channel audio interface which is fed from connected to my mixer that has all the preamps I need and use, effects, filters comp EQ etc so irrelevant my mixer also has all the DAW Control Surface features I need and motorised faders. I fail to see many using most of those features to justify its price I wanted 4 "line" inputs for a specific reason and purpose but it also gives me the flexibility of 2 preamps/Hi-Z with 2 additional line inputs for outboard DI boxes keyboards mixer feeds etc. So 4 preamps with 2 being DI/Hi-Z inputs 2 headphone outputs and ADAT justifies £400? Its worth it but is it what people would use? Personally? Ticks some boxes a unit half the price can do but does it replace my main audio interface that cost considerably more? NOPE !!

I am not familiar with the subject yet, but I do see a lot of Yuotube musicians being very happy with Universal Audio, or is that a whole different ball game? I am a single musician recordist, so this model does not fit my needs and budget at all. I do have a preference for an interface that reliefs the computer from realtime processing tasks. Any recomendations are welcome. At this moment I have only very old stuff: a Line6 Guitar Port and a Digitech RPx400.

Audient do not have the best latency drivers. They could improve on the heaphone amp output. Audient could improve on the mic pre gain say a true 64db of gain would be nice. Id44 could also include in the future send and returns on all 4 preamps. M1 mac mini, logic pro user. I have tested the id44 mk1 and the id22

Audient have reliability issues . I had two ID22 both failed inside 18 months . Whilst they sound quite good when running when you start getting into bigger figures there are better alternatives .
