The sundering is what occurred 10000 years ago. The magic you saw was the Well of Eternity exploding and splitting the continents.

War of the ancients was 10k years ago, when the well of eternity was destroyed, which sundered(split apart) all of Azeroth.

We are going to the Dragon Isles. The start of the cinematic is the Sundering. They hid it from the world and now it is being opened again. The dragon is a new hero classic and race combo called Dracthyr Evokers. Only Dracthyr can be evokers and “currently” Dracthyr can only be evokers. There’s a new system coming called Dragon riding which you get at the start which gives you 4 customisable dragon mounts to use which allows you to “fly” from the start. Dragonriding has its own talent system which you progress which allows you to fly for longer. The system is one where you need to build momentum and lift to continue flight and fight gravity. Only these 4 dragons can fly and all other flying mounts are limited to the ground in the isles for the moment. You need elevation to take off for dragon riding but the isles are very vertical so you can use it often. Dracthyr have wings and can use dragon riding at its most base form without a mount, even outside the isles which is basically DH on crack. However dragonriding system for mounts does not work outside the isles. New talent system is the same except it’s 2 trees: Class tree and spec tree Recommend watching deep dive and interviews regarding this

Love your reaction bud! Especially when Alex appeared x'D And they are adding a new race/class combo that is a draconic humanoid. Kinda like two legged dragons around wyrmrest from wotlk. We get a new flying method called dragon riding, where you can utilize stuff like diving, gravity etc with a new dragon companion. That stone guy is a random watcher called Karanos. Basically dragon isles kinda died down around sundering so it was shut off from the rest of the worlds, and dragons couldn't return as long as that beacon was left in two pieces.

Lol well it is Azeroth in particular its the Lost Island called the Dragon isle. It's magic was distributed during the Sundering of the Well of Eternity. To save the Island and remove the Cloaking spell the watcher put together the spire. Which called out to all the Dragons of Azeroth to come Home. Since the Island was Lost by the Magical cloaking spell from the Titans Macanism. A moment in time 10000 years ago 1 of many Legion attempts to invade. Before Legion you know the most Notable one was the Sundering which Tore apart the Lands from all together to the separate land you see now on the map.

Been wanting to get into wow again, But it’s such a time consuming game, I may have to after seeing the new content though.
