If you could start all over again, what would be the first permanent VC you would invest in?

Would depend on what units I were to get or VCs, made a new account earlier this year because replaying my Day 1 account was super painful after dropping it for awhile. New account was further in everything so fast lol. My experience early on definitely made me value VCs more than anything and really appreciate this video, it doesn't really help me but is nice to see your recommendations but this is definitely a video every new players should see!

This is a really tough question , Maiden of the rose is kind of my first vc and helped me much for a long way on my dark composition. But if I could start over with what we have now , maybe Anima or Diabolos is a way better choice. Battle of the rose is a very good card indeed , still I think for newer accounts , the fire power is way more important aspect than the extra AGI. And we could substitute it with the chocobo card if we are looking for that AGI.

Black Rose of the Battlefield still makes it's way into a many of my general use team comps, even elemental parties. So black rose is the route I would go.

Dark Odin, Fruits of Life or Black Rose. Give me all the Espers. Max all the Mog shop cards with the mog shop currency (Solidus, Golem I use a ton, Fenrir). Max every Free Event UR VC they give us and if your investments are limited then invest in limited VC's and don't pull a limited unit without it's VC if it has one.

I remember starting at launch and one of the biggest reasons I quit was because on banners the rainbow on a unit banner could either end up being a Unit or VC and I'd always end up with the VC. It just kept happening. It was really frustrating and fortunately something that has changed. But looking back and knowing what I know now, units are largely interchangeable. Sure, some are better than others, but the true power wheelhouse in WotV is the vision cards. Those have the greatest effect on your account's strength, and I was fortunate when I returned to the game (and THE reason that I didn't just reroll) I had a really strong basis of good Vision Cards that I could build over time while I got my account up to speed. Also, your recommendations are excellent and on point.

Very interesting perspective there, and that initial mindset you had is something I've seen in a lot of players, and to be honest it makes sense - units are just more fun! I'm hoping to do my small part in helping this wave of new players coming at the anniversary to stick around so we have a healthier long term game. Thanks for sharing!

I didn't scroll down enough to realize that vision cards were included in the medals so I've been using them on units exclusively! Hopefully I can finish out some cards with the remaining ones as I agree that it's a better value. Thanks for the guide!

Glad I could help! I'm sure you're not alone in not noticing that! We should get quite a few more medals, so try and focus on finishing 1-2 VC's we don't often get opportunities like this!

I think Ramuh probably deserved an honorable mention for the universal 50% Mag but overall great solid list. Fenrir, Solidus, and Odin are definitely the universal resist trifecta that everyone should seek to finish ASAP.

Definitely a lot of good cards I cut just to keep the list short and concise with 3 per element, really theres very few cards in the game that don't have some use for them.

Very good guide! I liked it and I will recommend it to guildmembers that start now or returning. Just a suggestion, in ice VCs, Freizess VC is superior to Odin (its the VC I would change from the 3 you recommend), giving to party 35 ice atk (applies to both phys and mag skills), 13 crit dmg, 25% HP and to the unit that will use it, got a GLEX buff and apart from 30% MAG, it will give 10% magres and 10% HP aswell.

Great suggestion! I was definitely thinking about adding that one to my list, but I did give bonus points to cards which had some multi element application such as Odin, as since this guide was designed at newer players, those 'foundation' type VC's have good flexibility for them to be used in different parties.

Agreed, but I put all of the 90 cost VCs in their own section at the end. Most newer players will not have them.

I watched Aurronjay earlier and he really likes that AOE and Unit res. Those are the effects I always look first. Mostly presented UR VCs, might as well add MRs for the newer ones =) Edit: I'd rather use Omega over Black Rose/Maidens of the Heart. I think those 2 cards are better used by Black Rose or Lynx/Vinera respectively.

Going to have to hard disagree for Omega on Lynx/Vinera. Maidens of the Rose is their best in slot card without question, and I rarely if ever say that about any card in this game. Black Rose VC is a staple in this game, I think any veteran out there will tell you it's one of the first, if not the first card you should finish.

@@JB79 What I tried to say was I'll run those vision cards if I'm using the respective units. So I use Omega on other units but Omega still goes on sub if I use Lynx/Vinera. That VCs 20 magic resist is just too awesome. Black Rose can be sub for Garval with his VC because I'd rather get AOE res than agi. Sorry for the confusion. As dark, my main 3 VCs are Sterne's (Unit res 20), Omega (mag res 20), and Man's BF (AOE res 20).

I think as we progress from noob too vet we learn that ATK power and units aren't everything. I remeber during the early days how angry I would be when my team had 4k atk but would lose to a weaker team

It can be a good card if your building around units like dark fina, black rose or garvall - and raises their magic power - I’d still choose the black rose agility card or garvall area resist card first though if I had to choose between them

Any skill you see that doesn’t have the orange/yellow tiles should be considered single target - even if it can pierce through the first file and hit another unit behind it, so generally impacts pierce and gun jobs the most

Sorry, I don't have a new player guide, if you're wondering which unit you should invest in that's currently up on banner, I'd invest in Snow and his vision card and build around him as your main tank. If you came back to the game for FFT, and don't care for Snow, than you could do something similar with Agrias (but still get the Snow VC).

Hi, I’ve been thinking about getting into this game for a while. How difficult is it to “catch up” to the rest of the player base as a new player?

Like any gacha game, that is all influenced by how much you spend to leapfrog the various gates that are in place to slow you down. I'd say though that even without spending you could get a competitive team online within a few months if you target the right units and VCs and are a dedicated and active daily player. The whole core of the game is really designed around building and upgrading your units, so I really can't see getting their any quicker than that.

I was definitely considering it, in the end I gave preference to multi element cards since those two are so foundational early on, can’t go wrong with Freizess
