The price of diamonds is actually fake af - years ago a single corp decided they're gonna pretend it's much more valuable than it really is and popularised it in jewelry, making people think it's the most beautiful stone, when for example, a much cheaper moissanite reflects light way more beautifully (they sparkle with more intense rainbow colors). IMO as a professional jewelry designer diamonds are overrated af, but the hardness is real and there is value in that , so that's the symbolism that made it the most popular choice for engagement rings. However, I think that nowadays people who get their significant other a huge diamond ring are more likely to show off, knowing they're gonna prolly divorce later (we sell breakup rings in our shop lmao) so the beautiful symbolism of diamonds being forever is lost. Random fact: hardness vs softness is one of big reasons recommended not to use a stainless steel blade on something like a knife. It's much harder so it can maintain an edge but it's much much more difficult to sharpen and is more brittle

The mass aspect is part of the reason diamond tipped tools irl are so useful. The overall size of the diamond tip makes it harder to break, while the mass of the steel behind it adds significant force (and it overall is much cheaper.) At the end of the day, Diamond as a tool is just kinda like really expensive glass… Maybe Minecraft logic isn't always correct, and we shouldn't upgrade our toothpicks into diamond.

i figured out the mass before he calculated it by deviding the wegight of a diamond block witch is 1m by 1m by 9 and multiplyed it by 3 for the 3 diamonds in a pickaxe.
