Anyone who thinks Sean Kinney isn't a monster drummer hasn't REALLY listened to him on tracks like Would? or Them Bones (among others). I'm learning this song right now and the barely audible almost polyrhythmic hi-hats make the verse beat 10x more difficult than most people realize.

Sounds like they sampled the snare and kick though
@User-jk8wq Жыл бұрын
@@5urg3x Maybe a sample blended in but I can clearly hear slight variations in the overtones with each hit, so it’s probably a bit of both. Either way it sounds killer!

@@5urg3x They didn’t, I thought the same but there is soundcheck video of a concert (you can look it up) and you can clearly hear and see that he makes that ostinato with the hats

I really like Sean Kinney's playing and some people say why he doesn't do that much and maybe you have to be a drummer to understand his subtle style but one minute he will be playing in 4/4 and throw in a mini drum break in 6/8. So subtle and easy to miss and not unlike Matt Cameron in that respect as he would do the same with Soundgarden.

I’m a drummer, I understand completely. I love Sean Kinney. He’s my favorite drummer aside from Neil Peart from Rush.

People say he doesn't do that much? W/e that means.. only an amateur rates a player solely on technical proficiency and flash, and that's why that kind of person will never get anywhere. Kinney had what the greatest drummers have, the musical foresight to play what the song needs, to take it to the next level. Many of Sean's drum parts are iconic, to the point where they're almost another melodic instrument... Ringo had this quality, as well.

@@Ac0ustics0ul There's a reason why Sean plays for AIC...because he knows TOO MUCH!

@@Ac0ustics0ul Bang on, Sean reminds me of Stephen Perkins - highly skilled and technically proficient, yet knows flashiness and pizzazz mean fuck all. The greatest art is the simplest imo.

Sean Kinney is an A1 drummer and very low key in his own right. His drumming is extraordinary and it is a mindfuck to learn his grooves and arrangements. He's one of the best.

I know this video is 8 years old, but I would love an isolated rooster drum track.
@Tharsis_3 жыл бұрын
Idk I think it would be kinda anti climactic seeing as that song has very simplistic drums. Don’t get me wrong, in the mix of that fantastic song the drums are so great because of their simplicity but they don’t really musically follow the overall sound of the entire song the same way this drum track does with would. The way Sean applied dynamics to his playing for the drum parts on Would with the tom groove, hi hat groove, and ride cymbal groove all sounding just like their corresponding riffs makes the idea of listening to just the drums alone so cool. On here you can actually still sort of hear the sound of the whole song, and since Rooster uses just 8th notes, it probably wouldn’t really give off the same sound of the song

Michael Seymour i can tell you how to import it into Pro Tools. Go to file , import audio, to track, then select the audio file. You have to use beat detective to set the grid to the right tempo, or use time compression/expansion to change the tempo of the beat to what you want it to be
