@@alldayagain its not that you can't get most of what Ray brought to the crew on his streams. its more of how Ray interacted/responded to/joked with the other crew members who were ALSO unique in what they brought to the team chemistry (the other 5 AH main crew members specifically), as well as the different settings in which Ray made content under RT (whether it's in the form of lets play, podcast, AHWU, live action/animated shows, etc.). The crew that he streams with now via Discord (like nagz, chibi, matt, etc.) is all well and good; but its definitely far from as good as when he was with AH. Ray even said himself during the 10 years of content reaction stream that in terms of team chemistry, achievement hunter was unmatched. Yeah, Michael had a point in this clip, and also other clips where he makes jabs at the fans who miss Ray, about him just being quiet a lot of the time in a video, claiming he is about to die but then doesn't, etc; but there is so much Ray offers than these generalizations of what he contributed (as pointed out in the initial person's comment). Hell, I'll even add to that list: - Reverse minecraft camera shot of ray jerkin it in a corner - "WOW NUMBER 7 WAY TO GO CHAMP" - Gavin(speaking on ray's r6 vegas character model): you look like ur mother was crushed when she gave birth to you. Ray: yeah? you look like you have 2 *bleeped* (speculation: dads) Geoff loses it Gavin: You know what i meant; what did Ray mean? AngrySmurf He issue was that it only happened once in a while. Ray never spoke often which is why before he left, a lot of people thought he was quite boring. There's actually a huge difference in old Ray and About to quit Ray. The old Ray was the straight man, but he was never deadpan. He was just whatever and he was funny. Sometimes he yelled a lot, other times he was just fucking weird. However, towards the end, Ray probably said a total of 10 sentences per video which weren't even funny. Ray quit of his own accord, and honestly, everybody is fucking tired of asking if Ray will come back. Michael is pointing out that Ray as he is now, would be no different than how he was at the end. He'd be quiet, bored, and downright forgettable. Even Ray gets annoyed by the questions and just shuts them down or makes fun of the situation. Both parties moved on so the questions should stop. Right now, it's the fans making things annoying when it should be a dead toppic.

Ray had his deadpan delivery moments but you're right, he was a mix of different humors and it worked extremely well with Achievement Hunter. But it's also been two years and I've long made my peace with Ray leaving and never coming back. Which sucks but it is what it is.

well its not that ray became boring, he was just tired of playing gta and minecraft over and over when they had already run out of ideas at the time and ray being overly quiet and depressed in videos made a lot of people think he was actually dealing with depression at the time (not that it wasnt possible its just tthat he wasnt happy where he was)

If they where fans then they would like him regardless. Only liking him when he is in Rooster Teeth proves that they don't like him unless Gavin and Michael are there with him.

Like myself, many people find steaming boring and a marathon to watch. I like to describe them as a 'KZfaq video with all the boring parts not edited out'. It the platform which is the issue, not the fans. Plus, some of the games he plays on his streams are bloody awful and dull to watch.

Love Ray, both AH and Twitch era, but I really did enjoy his banter with the crew, even if it was dying out near the end, it was pretty snappy whenever he did crack a joke until he started doing catchphrase. Maybe it's just me not catching him doing multiplayer games on twitch but that's pretty much why I would love to see him collab with michael or gavin. Other than that I'm just confused how it happened, there's a lot of reasons for him leaving other than him just enjoying achievement hunting on cam and with how hostile the community can sometimes get, I don't really take anything I hear about him leaving anything more than rumors...so I guess "official closure" or some shit is what some people are looking for, myself included kinda sorta? I dunno, I'm tired and on a weird youtube surf at the moment so if anything isn't clear, sorry in advance

Sadly, if you watch Ray's streaming now? it's honestly not much different. Most of the time he's just sat there blank faced, barely doing much and not interacting with his audience; often playing the same game over and over. Michael's impression was pretty much spot on

jijonbreaker I tried tuning into his streams and there's such a thin line of what he does now as to what he used to do. Now he just streams random games to viewers with the intention of playing through them and getting achievements, making clips, etc. Go back to the AH days when he was still a member and had like 4 other peers doing the same thing he would except it was a group effort to make quality videos. He's happy and I think that's all that matters, right?

Everyone acts like streaming Ray is so great, not he`s fucking not. What I enjoyed about Ray was his ability to say funny random things in response to something someone said in Lps or his self deprecating humour. He doesnt do that now.

Man people put effort into 'acting' to like Ray a lot than they should lol. Enough acting effort to support Ray's streaming carrer more effectively than RT. People just have different tastes, or those tastes change after a while. Some will hate it, some will love it.

I loved Ray and I really like Jeremy, i feel like they both brought their own bit of flare into the group. It would be nice to see Ray in a Letsplay ot Shenanigans, but hes doing really well in his own thing. I will admit I'm not crazy about the slew of other random people though. I mean Alfredo and Andy are cool, the rest idk I just don't feel like they add much. I don't feel like their personalities shine. If anything fuck adding more people and add Lindsay into the mix instead. She's got way more personality.

He wasnt feeling it anymore. When Ray tried, he was great, like Mini Golf or Rainbow six. But all 6man lets plays he was barely involved. Ray coming back for a couple videos would be awesome, mainly four man lets plays, but full time wouldnt be entertaining as old times.

Even if he did return and became old Ray again it wouldn't matter. They rarely have all 6 in videos anymore in less its MInecraft.

AH enjoyed decent success after his departure, many people consider 2017 to be somewhat of a return to form with highlights like GMOD: Murder, the Criminal Mastermind series and Jeremy finally getting settled and developing chemistry with the main cast. I personally stopped watching when they started trying to expand and bringing in Kinda Funny and everyone else, sometimes in a week you'd only get one actual Achievement Hunter video and it'd be with randoms who threw off the whole feel of the video. Plus the humour just kind of changed as time dragged on and everyone got older, like compare a 2018 GTA 5 video to the 2012 Olympics video. Night and day. 2019 was when Rooster Teeth as a whole started to struggle and lose money, and they had their first round of massive layoffs (13% of their workforce or 50 employees getting axed). Their reputation also took a massive hit with accusations of poor working conditions, soiling their image as the dream company fans were sold on. Then in 2020 when the pandemic really kicked off they entered their current death spiral, with Ryan and Adam's scandal breaking out in October of that year. Now in 2022 they're just a shell of their former selves; Rooster Teeth has 9 million subscribers but can't get more than 50k views per video (excluding RTAAs) and AH is taking Express VPN sponsorships and doing desperate clickbaity thumbnails.
