Yes that is true. And not that it was a guarantee, but most people at Barca knew that he was destined for greatness. Maybe not to the extent he did, but he flew through the youth ranks and was probably the best Barca player at age 19 or 20 in one of the most stacked teams of all time.

Bullshit. Notice a certain defender on Real Madrid named Sergio Ramos who shut down at least 5 attempts, excluding the last one where he had to rotate because his team was out of position. He played at 19 for Real Madrid. He also won the World Cup when he was 20. Messi is one of the greatest players to play the game, but there are others too, including ones in the same game.

no one says this but this was the best messi. his best season with the most stylish goals and dribbling. after this season they put him through a physical conditioning/strengthening program like what they put neymar through. but there's clearly an element of individual flare and style he had with this body type and long hair combo.

It's because Ronaldinho recognized Messi's capabilities early on and took him under his wing, together with Deco. Under their guidance, his talents could unfold the way we have seen since then. Then came Pep Guardiola, Iniesta and Xavi. They then gave the final polish to an already shining diamond. And the rest is history.
