3 pieces, about 8 inches each, of 20 gauge round dead soft wire 26 or 28 gauge dead soft wire for weaving(just keep on the spool as you weave, no need to measure).

Love the loops for the back. All of your tips are great. I'm really learning a lot from you. I love your work.

These are some great tips, especially the loops you create as you wrap to secure the base wires on the back. Much easier than trying to coil weaving wire into the weave! Very pleasing design as well. I haven't wrapped in a long time but you're an inspiration to me to get the wire out again. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and methods.

I am no longer “afraid” of wire work! I’m a new subscriber. I’d done a little wire work many years ago so I understand the concepts, I just never kept up with it. I just ordered wire and ordered 28-g but meant to order 26-g. They fixed my order before shipment, but hearing you say a beginner may be better off using 28...well, I’m hoping I get used to the “heavier” gauge! I’m going to search for you weaving videos. I’m intrigued for sure. Thank you for sharing.

I love your work. I'm practicing it myself. So far I've made a mess. I was using the 26 gauge wire to wrap which you advised against. I'm gonna try this again with 28 gauge.

Thanks for this! What is the difference between dead soft and half hard, etc. Do you always use dead soft? And is all you wire coated somehow to prevent tarnishing?
@OxanaCrafts2 жыл бұрын
I use dead soft as it is much easier to bend, it is not coated and will tarnish if not cleaned regularly

how do use this technique using 4 wires? because the 3 wires do not seem like they wud fit around most cabachons?
@OxanaCrafts7 жыл бұрын
you could do it very similarly just using 4 wires. You would just have 2 extra wire ends to tuck away at the end. You could also use those extra wires to make your bail have more wires and be wider if you wanted, or you can just tuck them away.
@nicolesims86067 жыл бұрын

A question relating to oxidizing your pieces: are there any gemstones or beads that will get ruined in the process?
@OxanaCrafts7 жыл бұрын
yes, I think pearls and opal will get ruined, but you want to google the stone you are using because some others probably may get ruined as well. I know labradorite is ok.

Where are you purchasing your cabochons?
@OxanaCrafts7 жыл бұрын
I don't really have one source I buy from. I probably have bought from like 100 sellers over the past few years, lol. I just look around online, and if I see something I like I go for it. I usually just google what I need and see if it comes up, usually etsy and ebay pop up, sometimes other individual sites. I also check on Facebook, there are groups where people sell stones, and same with Instagram. And if you have any gemstone store by you that may be another good place to check out. I do have one shop by me I buy from, but mostly just beads as they don't have many cabochons.

Does anyone have any tips with bending the frame to the stone because i am really struggling with that and anything will me appreciated :))
@OxanaCrafts2 жыл бұрын
is your wire dead soft? Dead soft will bend easily, but I have also tried half hard wire and it springs back when you try to bend it.
