The long awaited 2022 Toyota RAV4 hybrid SE model is finally here.
As you may already know we did once have the SE model before on the previous generation Toyota RAV4‘s. It is now back in a hybrid version only. In this video I review what’s different about the 2022 Toyota RAV4 hybrid SE and what sets it aside from some of the other RAV4 hybrid models.

Getting my Rav 4 XSE hybrid from Crestmont Toyota NJ at MSRP, Picking it up tomorrow. Salesman Brandon D has been great! Hope you don't mind we are far enough away to not affect you...Learn a lot from your vids!

I wish it came with fog lights! Same with the LE trim! 1 thing I’d love to see on this SE is the chrome piece above the windows are piano black in color!

good to know but there are none available to purchase. still waiting on my prime (ETA 2023 march 7month if i wanted the basic hybrid). just hope to have cancelation due to the fact that quebec lowered their incentive by 3000$ for all phev vehicule

I can feel XSE will be the best Model in RAV4 in Toyota’s plan in future. They gave XSE the unique fog light style even Limited doesn’t have it

you are right about the Silver color is popping with the piano black trim and nice wheels/tires... i was thinking if it had a full moon roof or roof black wrapped and maybe a hint of a rear window spoiler... all in all i liked your review and thanks always for your Toyota vids... sub#513 checking out!... :)

Great Video. Question about the 2022 XSE Blue- I see a camera in front . Is that a 360 camera ? Is that a part of the TECH package ?? Also is there any Panoroof on this model or just a moon/sun roof?

No pano roof on the xse but yes. The tech package will give you sensors all around. “Clearance sonar system “

Thanks for the review! What’s Toyota doing about the ongoing supply chain issue? In Canada, you order a hybrid model now, you get it in 8-12 months, according to the salesman. Ridiculous provided that the the car is made in Canada/North America.

Unfortunately there isn’t much that Toyota can do to control the severity of this issue. It is not a Toyota problem but it is a global issue which is economically affecting everyone

I'm about to pull the trigger on this particular model. Only problem is, it will be a 2023 because the 9 month wait time exceeds the production time period we have left in this year. So maybe it's a good thing, because I'll be getting the 2023 model when the demand will probably be even higher? But I still have to wait 9 months!!!

I am supposed to see a cavalry blue SE on Friday. I am not going to buy it because it is a knockoff built in Kentucky but I want to see if the color is as nasty in person as it is in photos and video.

I noticed that the SE doesn't have door sill protectors from the factory, but I know XLE does in Canada as standard equipment. Bizarre omission.

The US models are listed as having interior ambient lighting, however tons of people on the forums are reporting that it is missing from their 2022 Hybrid SE's. Do you have any information regarding the issue? It seems like some are coming with the promised ambient lighting, however the majority of people receiving new Hybrid SE's are missing theirs.

That’s just a hood protector wrap. Protects against scratches during transport on a truck etc. It peeled off when the car is delivered to the customer or placed in the showroom.

Does the SE come with a auto rear lift gate? This view shows it but the Rav4 brochure says No! I'm in the US btw.

Power lift gate isn't standard in the Rav 4 hybrid SE I bought one in may and it doesn't have one

I still have to zonk the door handle of this car. The inside driver side handle sucks. The screen sucks and the inside light sucks too. It is very dark. No sunglasses holder on top. I had a 2021 XLE hybrid rav 4 and traded it in for a venza. Love the venza.

The lack of foglights is an appalling mistake. The "audio plus" that is an option - sort of, every SE I have turned down in the past 4 months has it - is a total scam. Nearly $1100 for a 2" larger touchscreen. The other things it lists come standard and it is Toyota fluffing it up. Speaking of, that screen looks like it was designed in 2010. I am going in to look at an SE in that blue on Friday. I am not going to buy it, see the next paragraph why, but I want to see if it is as nasty looking in person as it is here. I put an order in for the black, which is the only color that doesn't look ridiculous with the wheels and grill on the SE. Let's be honest, no one buys Toyota or Lexus for its looks because they are all ugly, people buy them for reliability which brings me to the next problem. The near impossibility of getting a real RAV4 built in Japan makes it a lesser car. Every Kentucky-built RAV4 that I have seen are abysmal. They rattle, even with 20 miles on the odometer, the paint is thin and poorly applied, and most of the parts are not interchangeable with real RAV4s so they are not the same car. Why pay sticker on a knockoff built by third-grade dropout Cletus? These are massively overpriced in Canada. Yikes!

I looked at the cavalry blue SE last month and it sucked hard. The blue is uglier in person if you can believe that. It completely clashes with the rest of the car. It was built in Kentucky and it showed. The paint was thin and poorly applied. The panels were noticeably off. All of them. The hood was extremely flimsy. The mirror doesn't even have automatic dimming or a built-in garage door opener. It is the same mirror found in 1985 Toyotas. The entire car shook when the engine came on and that is not the case with Japanese build RAV4s. Averaging about 35 mph on the test drive it got around 30 MPG. There is no difference between eco, normal and sport mode. Not in performance and not in gas mileage. When the engine and battery are powering the car together the MPG drops to 10 MPG! The only positive is that it had Michelin Primacy tires. That is the best part, by far. I guess the 23s are out now, good. The 22s are just overpriced trash. The 23s are actually cheaper when you factor in the forced scam known as "audio plus" is no longer an option. Save yourself the headache and say no to fake Toyotas. If it is not a JVIN it is not a Toyota. I told the salesman to stop wasting my time on knockoffs. These fake RAV4s should be sold at a 50% discount. That is how awful they are.

I prefer automotive reviews with bit more objectivity and that's something you won't get from a "review" shot by a dealer who are the last people you'd expect any honesty. Very little meaningful detail presented other than the paint schemes.

Anyway, what is going on is not what you think it is going on, but only what it is going in in each person's life, apart from what is going on according to others who do not really know what is going on, but only feel the need to ask what is going on cause if anything is going on they need to know what to answer when smb asks them what is going on.
