We won’t know that until the two Nicky horses meet, their wins have been so different it rreally is hard to compare

We need to settle down a bit. He's beaten 130 rated horses senseless on heavy ground, 30 odd seconds slow. No doubt he is good, but all of this talk abut the Supreme being wrapped up is silly.

So the first Grade One race of 2022 in the United Kingdom and all the talk was on Constitution Hill who absolutely trounced the opposition. Could be the next Buveur D'Air over hurdles in terms of longevity or Altior if the trainer decides to go chasing later on in the latest star's career.

I for one was mightily impressed by this. To cruise and then sprint clear in bottomless ground is not seen often so this was very impressive. In all other races at Sandown on this day, NO horse sprinted at the end like CH. But you've really got to be careful. What did he beat ? We've seen some Irish superstars (Samcro, Envoi Allen) come on the scene, look superstars in novice company and then reveal themselves to be good, not great horses. Think of it like Epsom Derby trials. A few can look good winning trials, only one can win the Epsom Derby and then THE CRUNCH ... they come up against seasoned Group 1 older horses and only then do you find out if your Derby winner is a GOOD Derby winner or not. Cheltenham will decide who the best novice hurdler is, Jonbon, Constitution Hill, Sir Gerhard or some other. And only next season will we tell if that champion novice is any good. I thought the owner's modest comments post-race were refreshingly honest and realistic.

Your spot on keith.we just dont know until the tuesday off cheltenham.there is no doubt the ones behind are nice horses but heavy ground can disguise alot.look ill take it as impressive no other way for me and see how he goes at the featival.👍

Yeah we all want to see really good horses.i never bought into the envoi allen hype i just wasnt blown away by the ballymore run for a horse they started calling god!!once your in open company its a different game.im just not totally sold on galopin des champs its the punchestown run i watched he just didnt pull away at the end and the likes off vanillier id rather have over stiff 3 miles.hea my rsa horse all about opinions.as for the supreme im hoping jonbon is that good as ive colonel mustard done ew at 40 just for the value and a ew slice after he ran against him at ascot.one my strong fancies is mount ida mares chase think shes very good.like edwardstone ew in the arkle.and ew think eldorado alleen will stay strongly in the ryanair👍

Well ! I was even more impressed by CH's Cheltenham Supreme win. Clearly the best novice around. It will be very interesting to see him against the brilliant mare Honeysuckle. BTW Is anyone else slightly irritated at how mares get 7 pounds from geldings/entires ? Surely 7 pounds is a little too much.

Might as well wait until the day now. If all the main protagonists run they'll be bigger odds anyway. Well done to those who are on double figures for Jonbon and CH but the values gone now in this race. The Supreme looks a deep and exciting race on the horizon...

Personally think an outsider will win it (10-1 bar) it’s a big field and so many talented horses I think it would be silly to focus just on the big 3 in the market. Will be exciting for sure.

That looks testing ground so you take any win on that and move on. Jonbon probably got a lot more pace but this looks like it could sit in behind a fast run pace and then quicken. Soft ground this beats everything I think.

Exactly pace horse collapsed shalwehaveonemore help up couldn't find on ground that doesnt suit, visually impressive but the champion hurdle with be a whole other ball game. Look for a front runner on good ground and course form..... sir gerhard ticks the box.

This horse or Dysart Dynamo for the Supreme, I'm not convinced Jonbon can live with those two and Sir Gerhard has an each way shout hopefully at a bigger price. Just to add Pied Piper has a chance at the weights as he has 10 pounds on the principles and surely has the speed to cope with Constitution Hill as he was rated 101 on the flat, big EW value at 9/1.

Simple. Paul Nicholls likes to take on the best. And he wanted to see just how good Mr Glass was. And all credit to him for that. But of course, after that, Nicholls will have other plans for Mr Glass. Wind op certainly. Novice chasing, or longer distance over hurdles.

@@johnnyboy6608 Ha you make a really good point. Yes Nicholls has developed a habit of skipping Cheltenham if he can't win. But he HAS to run his novices in races like this in order to determine if they have to skip Cheltenham or not. Nicholls has cottoned on to the fact that you can skip Cheltenham - where you have no chance - let good horses have a hard race there and then pick them off at Aintree or Punchestown. He's done it with Clan Des Obeaux certainly. Thank goodness that the late great David Elsworth kept Desert Orchid plugging away at Cheltenham (left handed) trying to win a championship race there, to go with all his other top race victories.

Again what has he beat? I’m not convinced. He looks brilliant but it’s all about the competition. Anyone got any times? Was this particularly quick on this ground and over this trip? If there was solid data to back it up I’d perhaps change my mind.

The time figures from his debut at Sandown were incredibly impressive, the final furlong split looked like it had to be a misprint.

@@martinkane8709 I agree, Envoi was a massive hype job that won a dreadful champion bumper and an even worse Ballymore! Yes, Ferny at 16’s Energuemene at 12’s are probably my best two in terms of what price they are now, Got Jonbon at 33’s but there isn’t a hope in hell that anything finishes in front of Sir Gerhard.

I have no worries the opposition here was nothing on rating compared to what jonbon beat at ascot, remeber after jonbon won his first race they said what did he beat. My question what did constitution hill beat all were inferior to what jonbon beat at ascot hard facts. Ive got jonbon at 6/1 supreme novices hurdle and in quite a few accumulator running on from boxing day and leprdstown. Ain't going to have no sleepless nights after this 😂😂😂😂 ps. Jonbon is still unbeaten unlike constitution hill 😂😂😂 over hype job this horse, like tritonic last year and goshan from 2 years ago

Using a whip and getting a horse to respond from it is part of teaching a racehorse its job. The whip doesnt hurt the horse in this day and age, If you went back 100 years a whip was a whip.

Martin Kane Lol your right Martin but I know Moore’s horse on a stable visit not long ago and he says he’s ok but no world beater with a smile and he was second fav . with the Henderson mob he was interviewed few weeks ago by unibet rep and I knew Surrey quest was no world beater but I put down on my pad after he’s last race could well improve dramatically abs of course a few days ago he wins at 10/1 was i on know i wasn’t cuz Henderson mentioned about 16 horses and Surrey was not one of them so my mistake for watching the interview and of course Surrey wins running away oh well can only blame myself

I don’t think sir gerhard is the one, maybe I’ll look like a mug in march but I actually think the bumper form isn’t that strong and him and kilcruit are just not as good as we thought😬 I reckon largy debut would’ve done the same to sir gerhard if they’d met, look how far ahead kilcruit was of third

@@martinkane8709 Presumably you didn't watch his point, because he came to win the race very well, led up to the last, then made a horrendous blunder and lost a lot of ground. Rallied back very strongly to the line, should have won comfortably. Also, bumper standouts seldom win the supreme, and it's often won by horses that didn't even run in bumpers However, my comment was not about the supreme, or any individual race, it was about all the suggestive "what has he beaten" comments. The connections don't need to have a good record in the supreme to know a good horse, and they have all said this is a very, very good horse. They are all top horsemen whose opinions are worth plenty, particularly when the horse has demonstrated his talent on the race track. His sectionals from 4 to 2 out yesterday, on that horrendous ground, also reflect that the horse is more than a bit handy. People can doubt him for the supreme (as I do myself, I'd prefer to see him in a Ballymore) without the clichèd rubbish.

Anyone who backs CH or Jonbon now at the prices is a total mug. No one even Henderson himself will know which is best until they meet and Sir Gerhard was very impressive first time out . Moreover it is a race for totally unexposed horses so God only knows how good any of them could be .

Metier won in the same style and people said the same things. I thought this was impressive from CH but he beat absolutely nothing today. Jonbon hasn’t had a truly run race because no one’s wanted to take him on, he looks suited to an end to end gallop to me and he’s shown he can quicken well against good horses. The supreme will tell us the truth I suppose
