One thing Mick always accounts for when it comes to his video game music is how well the transitions work. To conform to the the action on screen, the music needs to be able to cool down or speed up depending on the player progress when clearing enemies in a room. You don't want to best drops to happen after the player finished a massive battle, and you don't want there to be quiet buildup when you are chainsawing massive demons. Hence the fake outs before the drops incase the music needs to loop back to save the drop for later.

The last transition of the song, always got me when playing, the rising build up as you get closer and closer to the next arena, until bam ahhh ha ha ha ha demons are gonna diiiiiiiieeeeeee. *chainsaw sounds, and the sounds of demons weeping* Rip and Tear is prime video game killing music.

A super fun fact about the songs from the Doom 2016 soundtrack is that they are layered in such a way that as you play the game the song evolves as you go. You get into heavier action and it ramps up faster while you cleared the area or found a safe spot away from fights it slows down. The engine they used to play it like that was made specifically for Mick's talented songs you can play the song in game multiple times and may never hear it in the same order or same way. He did such long music sessions just so he had enough material to give in between bridge, chorus etc for most possible scenarios.
@williamshimmin2854
@williamshimmin2854 3 жыл бұрын
There is some really interesting science behind the music theory of the way the music ramps up as the action does and as a result you get better and more hyper focused on the game.

The guitar was using a chainsaw put through an old synthesizer, it’s designed to sound like a chainsaw with the beats being the rumble of an engine. The music is composed and planned for the actual music but the even more masterpiece is how it’s utelized in game. The game keeps track of what your doing and in a fight ramps up the fighting, a smashed head ending the fight gives a kick ass finisher in the music. Each level and area has their own unique sound and hundreds of variations to them to make it always unique.

I don't know if you've heard about this, but these songs are actually developed in sequences and then dynamically put together in-game while you play. So every time you play, you pretty much get to hear a new mix of the song! It's really cool I'd recommend checking out his work on the OST for Prey from 2017, or Killer Instinct from 2013. From Prey you should check out "The Expirement" or "Everything's Going to Be Okay", and from Killer Instinct I'd check out "The Instinct".

I heard, and I may be wrong, the music is kind of modular as in at any given point the music can transition/fade seamlessly to another part of the song. For example, each time the player does a glory kill, the music fades into the 'killing' sound track and then back again. Pretty good stuff.

I already commented on your other video from November 3rd but just in case you didn't see it as it's been awhile ago imma rewrite it. I like the 2nd version of the only thing they fear is you with the drums at the ned with a crowd all yelling "RIP AND TEAR, RIP AND TEAR" although their isn't any music videos for any of these though for some reason. KZfaqrs have made their own which are pretty well done ill leave a link to two. I really think you should check them out his name is Oyff and I've watched both these videos numerous of times. I Find the transitions smooth and well done along with really advanced and perfected fast paced in your face gameplay from which this music was made for. Oyff is also a small channel so i'd imagine you two could be able to feed off each other in terms of viewers. his fans see you reacting to him they come over like your stuff and sub. or your fans see you reacting to him they check out his stuff and sub win win for both of you.
