WOW - I was truly shocked - AEROS NINE wing

The new AEROS NINE wing is on another level and I practically was speechless when I landed. I given the opportunity by Flylight to come to Sywell Aerodrome to fly the new AEROS NINE wing and was too good to turn down. I was able to test the wing in different configurations (it is still being developed) and providing my feedback to Ben.
I had such an amazing time and felt so privilege and to be part of the journey of the wing and trike.

Gonna be a top seller. I had a chaser for a while. Those are 10m. Great fun but at my weight not a huge amount of authority in the flare. I understand this is not the case at all with the Nine. That, to me, is the staggering truth. 👍👍👍

That thing is insane! Pushing the 185 to the limits though for sure. Since it's SSDR only, I imagine it would benefit from a 30L tank by default since the fuel burn will probably be a bit higher with a larger engine

Hi Damo, it was the initial trimming stages of the wing. I've flown it again subsequently and it's an absolute delight. Much more dialled in. I've already placed my order😁.

It's probably time the FAA updated Part 103 to accommodate advancements like the Nine. I wish we had a bigger 103 legal community in the US. Paramotors are far more prolific than flex wing trikes.

I think Sergey from Aeros said cruise is 85 to 100 klm. I think this would put it under (US) 103. You could also play with the prop or engine to reduce the cruise speed...manufacturers have played this sort of slight of hand before.

Darn! I was seriously going to put in my order for one of these and put a 4-stroke Aero-1000 engine on it, but it goes too fast for Part 103 in the US (63mph tops). Oh well. Looks amazing though. Great job Ben and Aeros!

Jonathan, I've been subsequently informed that the NINE wing will conform to FAR103 as there are some extra calculation factors that mean it does comply. :)

I think you can use a different prop...this can slow it up. This is what 103 has to say: "(3) Is not capable of more than 55 knots calibrated airspeed at full power in level flight; and (4) Has a power-off stall speed which does not exceed 24 knots calibrated airspeed."

Bit late to this (hols, sorry!) - looks like it will be a fantastic wing 😁 As it will need a bigger engine, and a bigger screen, will it not been so easy to set up the trike for that and then put the ADAM wing back on? One of the best things to my mind about the PeaBee is the fun of flying slow - and landing slow - and being able to land just about anywhere - so how do you feel about this faster wing compared to that?

100 kg, nice! Good to know you're testing for the 'merica market. 😂 With a larger engine will you be able to build a trike under 115 kg and a 18 l fuel tank? I'm thinking US ultralight market.

I don't know what a "Chaser" is so can't comment one way or the other about it. As for development and getting people into flexwings... Both my friend and I both hated the heavy handling of the two seaters and I almost gave the whole thing up in the first few hours flying them. The single seat flexwings are delightful. I was thinking how easy it would be to have radio control training in single seat trikes? When the instructor is off the controls the student would get the light responsive feel, this could be used for trial flights for the same reason, perhaps more people would continue with the sport?

Sorry for not getting back to. Your comment sooner. I think that the trianing is where some development needs to be made but you can't beat the immediate response of a supportive voice in your headset and hands on the controls. The Chaser microlight was really well known in the UK in the 90s. I've personally not see the wing, only a Chaser trike.

@@GolfFoxtrot22 Sorry about that. What I meant by "set-up" is: I store plane with the wing folded back. I roll the trike out of the hanger, extend the wings, put in the battens, and set the tension...ready for pre-flight. All of this takes me a little over six minutes. I am wondering, how long it will take to do the same for the Nine? The Nine uses the same mast as the Fox (the Combat uses a taller mast) so reaching everything looks the same with either Fox or Nine. I just wonder about how many more battens you have to stuff, how hard it is to tension the wing, and of course the wing tips will take longer. Thanks, and sorry for not being more clear with my question.

Hi @stone8597, not a problem, I just wanted to answer your question with accurate information. The nine pretty much rigs and derig the same way when mounted on the trike. Only 1 more battern and 3 lower ones. In terms of extra works you are only talking minutes. You can leave the tips on if you want. It's a nice Aeros and Flylight standard or easy flying. I think it would rig quicker than my Adam as it doesn't have a king post. Wing tension is not silly high as well.

Wouldn’t it benefit with a slightly coarser pitch prop than the standard Peabee? Or would that stop it revving out on takeoff?

Hi Nick, I've experimented with courser propellers but it doesn't give you the extra power/ speed that you'd need for this wing. And yes it does take the top end off the engine. I hope you are well.

Yes it was downwind. I had just turned on the downwind leg of the circuit. It was just fun seeing how fast I could go😁.

Hello to holly molly :-/ but what are the 91 (bananas) you talk about ...? Mph , km/h, kt/h ...? Isn’t right that 75knots per hour is the expetec Speed to never exceed ? And some 54kt/h could be the cruise speed. Also yes it may be over the part103, but holly molly thanks the USA are just a part of earth, and the world is much more larger than USA :-)

Hi Traveller, 91 mph, there is a follow up video where further testing has been made with more accurate figures. The NINE will fit under the FAR103 as there are additional factors that can be added in under a FAA document I've been shown. It was brilliant to fly it none the less.

@@GolfFoxtrot22 About US I mean we are not concerned in UE. So let it fly as faster as possible ! I hope to test it in Germany in a couple of month. Will look forewards to buy one in remplacement of my iFun13, wich I find to lazy and inaccurate. As well as to slow/less energy make it unapropriate in middle gusty conditions. Let us see what this Nine will have in these conditions. :-)

Personally, I don't really see the point of SSDR's, unless you have no friends 🤷‍♂ If I have an NPPL, I am not buying a single seat Peabee for £11,000 - £14,000 that only goes 55mph. I am buying a decent secondhand P&M, Pegasus, Mainair or Quantum for half the price, 30-50 mph quicker cruise speed and I'm able to take a passenger.

At least I was polite in my comment and didn't bash the product. I just had a quick look at the prices and for the Trike with windscreen, Moster 185 and Adam 13T wing, you advertise for £14,670 and another seller offers it for £12,334. What does the extra £2336 get when buying from yourself?

If you want to compare to used prices, I have seen lightly used SSDR's for £6000-£8000 which you will find is the same price as a twin seat flex. I see you avoided answering my question so I will ask again.......What does the extra £2336 get when buying from yourself rather than buying from Micro Maintenance?
