You might notice that some players jump a lot. This is to enable movement while using instant spells. If you jump during movement, you don't lose momentum. For that brief moment your hand is completely free and you can use any instant spell combination you want. I, myself, learned this intuitively - never thought about not putting instants on 2.

Helpful Resto Druid macros: #showtooltip /use [talent:3/1] Typhoon; [talent:3/2] Maim; [talent:3/3] Incapacitating Roar This will allow you to use the corresponding ability based on the talent selected. #showtooltip /cast [@mouseover, help, nodead] Lifebloom;[@target, harm, nodead] Shred #showtooltip /cast [@mouseover, help, nodead]Swiftmend;[@target, harm, nodead] Rake #showtooltip /cast [@mouseover, help, nodead] Rejuvenation;[@target, harm, nodead] Rip #showtooltip /cast [@mouseover, help, nodead] Wild Growth;[@target, harm, nodead] Ferocious Bite OR: #showtooltip /cast [@mouseover, help, nodead] Lifebloom;[@target, harm, nodead] Wrath #showtooltip /cast [@mouseover, help, nodead]Swiftmend;[@target, harm, nodead] Sunfire #showtooltip /cast [@mouseover, help, nodead] Rejuvenation;[@target, harm, nodead] Moonfire #showtooltip /cast [@mouseover, help, nodead] Regrowth;[@target, harm, nodead] Starsurge #showtooltip /cast [@mouseover, help, nodead] Wild Growth;[@target, harm, nodead] Starfire These will allow you to use 2 abilities on the same bind depending on the situation, and help with the druid button bloat. If you are moused over a friendly target, it will take you out of cat or moonkin form and use the heal. If you aren't moused over a friendly target, AND in cat or moonkin form with an enemy targeted, it will use the dps ability. They are, of course, interchangeable if you want different combinations. :)

To take the affinity talent row macro to another level, if you are playing more than one druid spec, you do not need to make separate macroes for them. #showtooltip /use [spec:1,talent:3/1][spec:3/4,talent:3/2]Maim;[spec:1/2,talent:3/2][spec:4,talent:3/3]Incapacitating Roar;[spec:1/2/3,talent:3/3]Ursol's Vortex;[spec:2/3/4,talent:3/1]Typhoon; This covers all specs and all affinities.

Keybinding is HUGE. Preach got the message out 8 years ago, Im glad you bring it up and teach as you do, loads of people will benefit from this. I've found 12345QERTFC and shift variations of these being extremely easy to press if youve got less mouse button choices. All my DoT classes have main dots Q/E. All classes interrupt/dispel on 1. R/F is main stuff, Frost Strike/Oblit, Wrath/Starfire, Fireball/Pyroblast etc. Makes classes feel a little similar, but makes multiclassing stuff super easy.

I'm glad somebody else mentioned the pinky knuckle thing on Ctrl. I've always done it from playing FPS games as that's my crouch button, but find it useful in MMO's and MOBAs to use as a modifier key. My bindings since Legion have been 1, 2, 3, 4, E, F, R, G, Z, Q, MB5, MB4 with Shift and Ctrl as modifiers for the other 2 bars. 1-G are generally rotational, with single target spells coming first before AoE spells and special abilities like finishers are longer ~30 second CDs on E-G. Z is for movement (or taunt if tanking), Q is for dispel/interrupt. Mouse buttons are for big CDs.

Backpeddle is an important bind for tanks. Sometimes you need to position either yourself or mobs a very specific way and/or just a tiny inch and strafing might not do the trick.

Since I had to rebind a lot of keys, I developed some fixed steps to help organize them: - Clean your whole UI and start from zero. Take this chance to reread all your skills. This will often help you diagnose misuses and come up with better places/binds for your skills. - Organize them visually *before* binding any keys to any place. Your keybinds will often not make any sense visually. - Try not to strain either of your hands too much. Remember you can always bind stuff on your mouse too. Including on scroll up/down and pressing the wheel. Also remember both your mouse and keyboard have a limit to buttons pressed at the same time, so plan well for this. - Group your abilities per use (e.g. "rotation", "damage cooldowns", "defensive cooldowns", "crowd control") and keep them visually together. This way you only need to remember which group they're in to figure where they are. - Make sure to not place important cooldowns bound close to abilities you'll use with frequency (e.g. Interrupt on Q and Divine Shield on shift + Q), as that can cost you dearly. - Every single time you change your keybinds, make sure you do *extensive* testing. You don't want to forget where you put stuff during combat, you don't want to lag, you don't want to press the old key by mistake, and most importantly, you don't want to find out too late that you're having a tough time to cast that while walking around.

I hate modifiers on the keyboard, but modifiers are necassary. My tip: Use a simple gaming mouse (2 thumb buttons are enought) and put 2 modifiers on the mouse. This way you don't have to press any modifiers on the keyboard. Using this since MoP, its fantastic and super easy to learn.

Using your pinkie knuckle for the ctrl key is genius! Curious how you feel about "click healing" vs keyboard keys + mouseover macros? A tip from me: As a tank, I primarily walk/steer/strafe using mouse buttons. This opens up all kinds of keybinds that might otherwise be impossible (ie, Shift + 1 while strafing left). With some practice, you can seamlessly delegate movement to the "less busy" hand when the situation requires it. Also great for kiting DPS classes like Mages and Hunters.

MMO Mouse is an amazing tool, using g600 pretty much since it's release in the 2012. I've tried Naga as well, but didn't like it. So you'll have to check few different mice to figure out what fits you. I'm surprised you haven't mentioned using VuhDo or similar addons, that will allow you to "bind" spells to your left/right/middle/additional mouse buttons when you're hovering the VuhDo frame, saving a lot of keybinds for the other spells. For example I'm learning shaman now, and have binded: LMB: Healing Surge RMB: Chain Heal MMB: Healing Wave Alt + LMB: Riptide Alt + RMB: Unleash Life Ctrl + LMB: Purify Ctrl + RMB: Target

One thing I like to do with a 12-button mouse is make sure 2 of those buttons are set to A and D keypresses respectively. Being able to completely control your movement with either hand really frees up the amount of binds that you can use on the move.

How I was taught, and this may work for others as well: I am using a normal keyboard, and a Logitech G502 mouse. I main Monk. I have three main hotbars. The main is R-Q, F-A, V-Z. The second is R-Ctrl (mapped to DPS Shift button) + R-Q, F-A, V-Z. The third is 1-6, and R-Ctrl + 1-6. The two buttons on the top of my mouse, next to the left button, are mapped to 1 and 2, which is for movement abilities. The default back button on the mouse is mapped to autorun toggle. The default forward button now pulls up Opie. I keep two extra hotbars in the corner of my screen for things I just don't need to use often, and are not mapped: revives, Zen Pilgramage, food, gliders, profession skills. I generally reserve R-Q for attacks or main abilities for the spec. F-A for stuns, overflow abilities. V-Z for self heals and cleansers. Ctrl V-Z for mitigators. The numbers bar is reserved for, in this order: Movement, long drink buffs (Mana Tea), mounts, revives.

I spent all of prepatch getting used to using keybinds to select party 1-4 (like moadmoad) using keys 1 - 4. I like it and plan to use it for m+ and arena healing. I made macros and added them on my spell bar instead of using the keybind menu, so I just replace the macros with other spells while on different classes/specs.

question: is there a particular reason why you use mouseover macros to heal instead of just binding your healing spells to different mouse clicks and modifiers through vuhdo? for example, i bind my rejuv to left click, my swiftmend to shift + left click, etc. this allows me to free up a lot of keyboard binds for rotational/utility/cooldown abilities, and makes it really easy to heal while moving. to me, it's always felt faster than using mouseover macros, but it seems to be a much less popular method for healing. it's always worked well for me, but i'm planning on trying to push keys in shadowlands, so i'm wondering if there's a reason not as many people seem to do it? thanks!

That was nice for general information. Would you mind doing a similar video on your specific keybinds for your favorite class or even multiple classes? - I have 1-6 bound. for rotation . 7 8 9 bound for semi-long cooldowns like killing spree and frozen orb 1 and 2 bound with modifiers shift and alt for dashes/taunts/jumps/interrupts/glaivethrow - R and shift R bound for interrupts on focus target or pain surpression etc for healers - 2 mouse sidebuttons for jump and autorun - 2 additional mousebuttons bound for targeted AOE abilities like blizzard, sigil of chains, lifebloom etc - y is the extra action button I click 1min+ cds and defensive personal cds with mouse. My "use" trinkets are always just bound to cooldowns with the same or a similar cooldown And I really don't know where else to fit them. F1-4 feel awkward and result too often in the accidental ESC. F is my "target of target" which U value. button between Z and shift is bound to autorun And x is "sit" mainly to stop attacking And everything right of those is bound to target markers and blizzard interface shortcuts I frequently use.

I use Clique which reduces the amount of keybinds i need for healing by a LOT. I use mouse clicks for a lot of my healing spells for example left mouse click is bound to rejuv right is regrowth and instead I use alt+left and alt+right mouseclicks for opening menu or targeting friendly. I only bind cooldowns that does not require a target on my keyboard. You can also skip the macro making process with this and able to use the same button for 2 different things. Similarly to growl mentioned here, i use the same bind for dispelling friendlies and soothing enemies but i also use a button for swipe when cat and mouseover unit frame wild growth without the need for macro writing. I tried g600 but it was too wide for my hand and caused pain so i got g502 instead. I found it easier to distinguish different buttons on it too.

For me the reach of my fingers is usually the limiting factor in how well I do ( as well as remembering which class/spec I'm on :p ). I'm still very much a noob IMO but to know where I'm going wrong is the hard part, wasd occupies my movements for most situations excpetion being flying where I need left and right mouse to guide direction and altitude. Scroll wheel is how I zoom in and out so that's locked as well, but I do make use of as many close keybinds as i can such as shift R, shift C and Shift F. I use every button on my Oroborus mouse except button 4 because it's too hard for my thumb to easily hit (small hands :/). Get an MMO mouse with 10-12 buttons on the side. Keep your left hand on your movement keys. With your thumb and pinky you should have access to SHIFT, CTRL,ALT, SHIFT+ALT, & CTRL+ALT pretty easily. That gives you up to a maximum of 60- 72 keybinds without ever having to move your left hand off WASD for movement and you can still move with the mouse. Once you master this it really opens up movement and control of your character. I found it helpful to have my actual buttons on screen oriented in the same way as the side of the MMO mouse when learning this setup. good luck.

I really disliked WoW until I got a MMO mouse. The game is unplayable for me without it. There are just too many abilities that require mapping and a ton of movement is required in raids compared to the MMO I came from (EQ2). Having a MMO mouse lets me more easily execute my rotation and keeps my left hand free to move to do raid mechanics.

What advide would you give to someone that only has half his left hand? I can't click shift, Ctrl and alt + another button. it's too distant to use such modifiers and messes up everything. I have a mouse with 10 buttons but it still feels like I need more keybeinds, I've been using same keybinds for 2 abilities (like the purge + dispell you mentioned) with a damage ability and a heal depending on mouseover, but it still feels like I need more space, I've been clicking potions and some abilities. For example My bear form is on K, and it's easier to use than shift+D for example (but still chaotic), also doesn't help that I main resto druid and enhancement shaman that has 7-8 abilities in his basic rotation.

My setup works really well for me on affliction warlock. Using Q - E - R - F and side mouse buttons for core rotation feels amazing long term to me. Q agony E corruption F Siphon Life - shift modifier of those applies same dot to focus target. Shift+1 to set focus, 1 to select focus and always focus the boss for reselection or 2nd target for multi-dotting. R unstable affliction, shift+R haunt, T phantom singularity/vile taint macro, shift+T Dark Soul: Misery Side mouse button 1: Malefic rapture, Side mouse button 2: Drain life, shift+SM2 interrupt, likely shift+SM1 for covenant ability 2-3-4 and shift modifiers healthstones, defensive, potions, trinkets Y: burning rush Some random alt modifiers for super infrequent stuff like seeds of corruption, fear etc Entire core rotation while never moving your fingers and slight reach for 2-5 for infrequent use

Hi first of all I want to say that your content is awesome. I watched nearly every guide you did and I learned a lot. But at this guide I have a question. What is your opinion to switching bars with your stances? Does it make sense when your hotkeys change when you switch do cat form or do you have fixed hot keys? Thanks for your effort and your time putting in this project! I'm looking forward to your shadowlands content. Edit: Do you use your stance bar? Are your stances on hot keys and do you push them to switch into different stances or to you push an ability to switch into the stance ?

Great guide! Looking at redoing my keybinds on my druid and really struggling to find places to put everything lol. So many more abilities than most classes... Do you have a list of ALL your keybinds for your resto druid? It would be really interesting to see exactly where you have everything bound. That would be a huge help for ideas of how to fit all the needed druid keybinds together :)

Try "ESF" and your world will change. It's not just "good on paper." I also keep backpedal, because it helps with quick positioning and camera management as a healer. If you can learn different keybinds for different classes, then "ESF" wont cause "bad crossover" with other games. I get that you like leaning into CTRL. Is that worth not having easy access to at least 6 more keys? And anyway, other games (all games) should get off "WAD" and move to "ESF." Help make change happen! Love your vids. Thank you!

my pinky hurts immediately if i try to use any modifiers with esdf, and having modifiers on the mouse is awful as some suggests. one modifier is so much more than 6 binds, so if you gain a modifier by playing with wasd then that's way more keybinds than esdf. but of course, if you can comfortably use modifiers with esdf it's really good.
@LawrenceSelden
@LawrenceSelden 3 жыл бұрын
@@qweek understood, and to each their own. But I have all 3 modifiers bound, to both keyboard keys and mouse keys, and I mouseover heal constantly with all of them, and my fingers are all as happy as they were with WAD. If I lost a single modifier, it would have destroyed my mouse button setup (only have a 3 button mouse). Still good!

@@LawrenceSelden oh yeah if it works for you then go for it. What i meant with modifier on mouse is that some rebind shift and ctrl to mouse 4 and mouse5 because they cant comfortably reach shift and ctrl with esdf like me which i think is terrible.

Been a wow clicker since vanilla. Had no problems when I raided especially with my priest which I had as one of the best in the realm. As you get older memory doesn't work as good. I appreciate experts saying this and that but the game or any game for that matter is as good as you make it. Example play A priest any way you like over time you get good at it. I have dementia now and wow helps my memory to tick so clicking is a perfect example as it makes me think what to click next. Also, you have tremendous addons to help you rather than remember which button does what. Eg Vuhdo healium (which for me is unreal for sick people) The bottom line is you can play the game any way it suits your style and get good at it.

The first step is to backpedal. The next step is to remove backpedal from your binds. The ultimate step is to put backpedal back in your keybindings (and find other binds for those abilities you bound to S), and use it like a pro only whenever you have to. If you don't believe me, try moving out of the cage thing whatever it's called from horrific visions while channeling fists of fury AND dealing damage with it, without backpedaling.

It's funny how almost everything described in here is what I do with the exception of some of my situational key binds. I also think the number of abilities is a bit of an exaggeration considering I play 4-5 classes consistently and have most abilities bound. With regards to the situational key binds, I think that players can get away with not binding those keys as it would barely affect the player's average performance. It really depends on the ability, but I'll use my priest's mind soothe ability as an example. I don't use it in raids at the moment & I use it the odd time in mythic +. It's not being used in combat & I've got plenty of time to find my target and spam click the button. I would literally see zero performance improvement by applying a bind to this key & it would just be one more key for me to remember. For my keybinds, I mainly use 1 through 5, and shift(or ctrl) 1 through 5. I attribute two binds to my shift/ctrl binds because I will often accidently select my ctrl instead of shift. This reduces the risk of accidently pressing the incorrect bind, resulting in me questioning why my abilities aren't being cast. Other notable keys I use are F, Z, R, X, C & two extra mouse buttons. So in total, if I use the "shift/ctrl" alternatives for these spells, I have around 22 key binds. If I REALLY feel another keybind is necessary, I will use "alt" as a keybind for the very rare bind that is situational & I feel would benefit from having a bind included. On my DK, this would include macros I've written to have my pet change targets on fights like blood council where you want to focus damage on the boss you're killing because the others are going to heal throughout the fight. I also use this on huntsman to ensure I'm not accidently attacking any shades & breaking cc.
