I was 25 when Thriller was released. Disco had died, rest its sole, and we were listening to a mishmash of music styles ranging from Dolly to Adam Ant. Then came along this kid who we all watched on the Ed Sullivan show but now had matured and who needed to expose us to his creation .... Thriller. Well that one album revolutionized the music world. I would vote for this album as one of the greatest accomplishments ever.

As beautiful as Michael's voice is, I just adore Vincent Price's sinister reading on the track. Two greats coming together on the song, and two more (John Landis and Stan Winston) on the video.

It's wonderful they were able to record it and immortalize him in a modern context before his death soon after. He is such an important part of movie history (especially suspense and horror films) but people today won't watch a film merely because it's in black and white so at least they can hear him being sinister in one of the greatest music videos of all time.

It's such a cool idea as a horror movie short. She is trapped in some kind of dream or he holds magic that can alter reality so she keeps feeling happy, then has it turn to horror, then think she's just imagining it, then more horror. This video was such a game changer for the music industry. The director is the same movie director who created one of the most frightening movies of all time, American Werewolf In London and used some of the same effects in the intro section. To me the most amazing thing is the way they handled the transitions so there was a reason for him to dance around her and sing instead of it being corny. Then the monster dance is a bit silly, but at the same time they are just trying to frighten and confuse her. It's so deep for a music video it just never gets old. I can't wait to show it to my kids when they get a little older.

This music video was directed by John Landis. Before this, Landis directed "An American Werewolf in London." It had a ground-breaking werewolf transition sequence. In the aAWiL film, a scene took place in an adult movie theater. The film showing in the background was "See You Next Wednesday," which is one day off from C.U.N... Well, you know. In this music video, you hear a voice say "See you next Wednesday!" in the theater.
