I wouldn’t ever wrap top to bottom, but you have to remember that pros don’t need to have their tape last as long as mere mortals

This is how I always tape my handlebars, looks very clean. On non-Enve handlebars, just a bit of superglue on the end.

on normal handlebars you can just finish it with the bar plug too.

He should have started wrapping the other direction even from the top, towards the rider not away. When you grab the bar you then tighten the grip tape, not loosen it like it will be now.

Good pun @Jeffke. The rubbing against the small layers would be a reason not to use this method I guess. And a big shoutout to @IRIDEENVE @ENVE to be the first to sell bar tape especially for aero bars as I throw away half of it since I am also stopping at the bend in the bars, but also to stop putting PLASTIC bar end plugs in each box while we can just recycle or use the ones that come with the bars!

Was wondering how people were getting that top finish. Where does your bar end junction box go with those bars if you don't have a spot in the frame?

then you will have to cut one side of the bars and use the junction box to secure the tape. But with BMC frames the junction box is very neatly secured on the down tube!!

Anyone knows if there is a possibility to buy bar end plugs with the rubber collar to install it into handlebars? Like those integrated in Victor handlebar.

You can buy these from ENVE but they might not fit other brands. The plug is a two-part system and works really well (the part you twist and a smaller plug to seal it). It is made from a type of silicon and is really sturdy, they are called Enve Road Bar End Plugs and are 10 dollars for a set.

figure 8 is overrated, but bar tape should allways start from the bottom

As a pro cyclist i can say it is.no problem at all to ride about 5000km like this, after it is anyways time to get fresh bar tape:)
