+Pure4Kicks I think you have to use some common sense. If you have some raggedy ass car you only paid $5k for, and the wrap costs $2k, then yeah... that's a lot to wrap the car. However, if you bought a 100k Porsche and it cost you 2k to wrap it, then $2k really isn't much compared to the car you own.

Familys been working at a very reputable shop for 30 years, doesnt recommend wrapping a car, cause it can look like shit but also says, when repainting a car its hard to perfectly match some colors that are on cars like 3 stage silver, Getting it painted is very nice but it never quite looks the same as factory if u have very good eyes.

Rubbish. 10 Grand for maybe Lamborghini paint.... In the US a professional paint job for a small 2 door car is no more than 4000 and that's HIGH in my opinion.

They think if it is not fancy Diamonte paint and expensive Sata guns spraying it then it wll be a shitty paint job. I have painted for years and most people just want their car painted to make it look good at an affordable price and with skill, prep and application I have done lots of paint jobs on ordinary cars that look every bit as good as alot of the "fancy" paint jobs available. Most of those people paid me $500 total. I bought the paint, the clear, masking and prep stuff and the rest went in my pocket for labor. So thats how much an awesome paint job costs- $500. Unless you want to listen to a fancy shop guy that will dazzle you with some fancy spray gun with a digital meter on it.

I do all my own work thank you very much. You aren't telling me anything i don't know but for the AVERAGE person they don't know that. Wraps will NEVER hold up the way a proper paint job will. It's a glorified sticker is all it is. Paint with proper clear coat will always hold up better.

you are faaaaaar from good. i can unwrap a hood or a door 1 hour and re wrap it in 30 minutes. you will be in and out in less than 2 hours. good luck with that when it comes to paint. The wrap also protects your paint. No need to sand or polish the paint. I had damage on my wrapped doors because people in parking lot swing out their doors on mine and when i pulled off the wrap there was not a single light scratch on the paint. Tell you better. I hit someone from behind and his exhaust cut a hole in my bumper(!!!) yet when i pulled off the wrap where it was all torn the paint was perfectly fine under! Of course, I changed my bumper because of the big hole but still. The wrap's protection was pretty impressive.

True some effects you really only can get from the wraps. But the wraps dont last anywhere close to the life of real paint jobs. Its mostly about end goal if you want a different color paint is the way to go. But if you want a temporary look and have money to throw away go wrap.

Maybe you could get a basic paint job. But for any designs, a wrap is going to cost less. I was quoted $6000 for a painted design and $3000 from 2 vinyl wrap shops.

The car in this video is in Pennsylvania where the temperature fluctuates almost monthly! Chrome paint is actually less durable than a wrap and equally if not more expensive. It is also safer for the car in the long run, no worries of harming the factory finish or paint over spray in inappropriate places.

Nick Smith you may be right but from experience I prefer paint. imo its easier to repair paint than vinyl. if you get a tear in vinyl you need to replace the entire segment of the wrap for example say a rock hits the hood. if it's painted it could be filled in and smoothed to match the rest my car is wrapped but still id rather paint it. If vinyl is done right it looks good but left on for to long it will peel paint when you remove it maybe not as much where this car is but I'm in california and the sun does get warm enough to bake it to the paint. May not be the case with every car but for my Subaru it took pretty good chunks all the way to the primer. like I said it may not be every car but those with thin or older paint it's likely. I'm not hating on wraps but this guy is dumb, he is salesman and a promoter simply cause this is his business. I would never paint or wrap my car chrome imo it's tacky and trashy looking.

ALL vinyl graphics will fail if left outside 24/7/365. PERIOD. The sun bakes it all day long and it ever so slightly expands. And the cool/cold nights contract it. Wrap vinyl is a high energy surface & it has to be for the job. This is why it's important to: 1) KEEP IT CLEAN and protected. (Wax or after care products are good. I'm not sure about ceramic coatings or the F11 type products. I have yet to test them. But I plan on it when I get freed up to re-wrap my SUV which is in progress. But business comes before my pleasure so... you know, priorities.) 2) Garage it and it will ALWAYS last YEARS longer. I've had wrapped vehicles last 5+ years and are still going strong because they are well maintained. Others are history in 2 years due to UV exposure and lack of maintenance. It ALL depends on the owner. 3) If you can't garage it, at least rotate the direction it's parked for long periods of time. The southern exposure is the toughest on a vehicle. Even though paint isn't a high energy surface, ALL of the care & maintenance applies to paint as well. I can always tell which side of a vehicle is the constant south facing side when parked. Paint will oxidize on the side which is habitually facing south. Vinyls will become brittle and begin to crack. If you have graphics that are starting to crack, it's time to remove the graphic!!! REALLY! It WILL damage the clear coat and eventually the paint if left on too long. Look at any surface that faces upward for cracking as that's where it will begin. Vinyl Removal: Again it depends on the care and maintenance. I just removed a wrap from four years ago and the finish under the graphic looked as good as the day we wrapped it. The surrounding paint however, was a different story, the clear coat was a bit dull. Well maintained graphics will remove easily. Poor maintenance results in difficult removal and all too often I've witnessed razor blade scrapes and gouges in the paint because it was done improperly. (Please, do yourself a favor and have a professional to do it!) And last, but not least. I stopped wrapping hoods unless the owner agrees to remove it within two years, OR it's going on a working fleet vehicle. Why? Because the vinyl gets baked from the top & the bottom CONSTANTLY! How do I know? Because I test this stuff on MY vehicles before I attempt to do so on a vehicle which belongs to anyone else... Just being honest. With all that being said. The wrap graphics industry has evolved a LOT since the materials where first introduced around 1997. And they continue to improve year after year. Color selections and finish options have really exploded in the last 3 to 5 years. Wrapping may not be for everyone, but it does work well on a vehicle that doesn't need body work, but the paint is fading or the color isn't what you want. If you're going to spend 2-6k for a wrap you should not be taking it to a 5-10 dollar car wash that will fuck it up. Makes no sense. At least pay for a detailer to come out and wash it if you really don't have the time to do it yourself.

I got a ticket and had to remove some WAY less reflective window tint in Florida, I was told anything like this is illegal, you can't convince me that at the right angle this car would NOT reflect the sun and blind people... for car shows and night driving only. IMO

Yeah, you can buy a scalpel at the flea market and do your own appendectomy, ever watch how they do this?, it make window tinting look like child's play .. expensive vinyl and easy as fuck to mess it up and start over , not to mention the damage possible to the paint . .taking all that stuff apart takes special tools or it never goes back together right, I have seen a shop take over a week to do a really nice job ..
