Wrenn Locomotives and Hornby-Dublo coaching stock

Here we have two Wrenn Bulleid Pacifics, one in original condition 'Tavistock' and the other 'Exeter' in its rebuilt form. 'Tavistock' is shown decked out in 'Golden Arrow' regalia hauling Hornby-Dublo super detailed Pullmans while 'Exeter' is hauling a rake of Hornby-Dublo super detail tinplate Mk.1 coaches in Southern green livery. Also in view in a somewhat spurious Southern Railway livery is a Wrenn BR Standard 2-6-4 tank loco hauling a rake of Hornby-Dublo super detailed suburban coaches in green livery. I thought I'd showcase one of these as a change to the more usual lined black and lined green ones which have been up on several occasions before. Wrenn seemed to make a virtue of varied liveries on some of its models, some of which were unauthentic but all to good effect it has to be said. Note also the Hornby-Dublo R1 in the station attending to some parcels vans (Wrenn and Tri-ang).

@@crewelocoman5b161 As a BR(S) modeller had the Bulleid Pacifics, Bacon Slicer, Brighton Belle and R1 - now all with new owners to enjoy. 🙂 Incidentally of all the variations of R1 locomotives that existed (nearly as many variations than actual locomotives) seem to recall the Hornby-Dublo model variant was not actually amongst them!🤔

@@crewelocoman5b161 Thirteen R1 class locomotives were converted from R class with (it appears) eleven variations. Except it didn't stop there as a locomotive could enter works with a Pagoda cab and after rebuilding leave with a cut-down cab - the variations 'moved' around the fleet!

Although lacking the detail of today's models Wrenn locomotives always gave the presence of the real thing in miniature hence their continued popularity

Such a joy for me to hear compliments such as these from your good self! Yes, it is a bit of a task setting it all up and making sure it all runs to plan, but with the comments I receive from my select group of enthusiastic followers it is well worth it. I'm slowly picking up more Hornby-Dublo particularly train sets which financially work out very favourably comared to individual items so I'm hoping to run some themed sessions by brand and region and the mix with Wrenn as well. Thank you for your continued support and...watch this space as they say!

Lovely Running session. I have a soft spot for Wrenn and Dublo stock. As magnificent as the pacifics look and I have a few. I really like the 4mt's (I think Im up to 6 of the big 2-6-4 tanks), the fact that some of wrenn's liveries arent exactly prototypical adds to their charm I think. Thankyou for sharing them with us.

I'm happy I had a childhood filled with model railways and locos instead of the Xbox console generation. Simpler slower calming times from a bygone era of classic childhood. Now today's kids think they are experts in global warming, politics and foreign policy.
