As Rambo famously said, "The problem with the word hero, is that it's usually reserved for the ones who dies for their country rather than survived." However I agree with you here, survivors are as much heroes.

Grief and guilt feel so much like fear. I lost my wife of 17 years just over 2 and a half years ago and have been battling severe depression for the last 2 years. People ask how you are doing and you just tell them you're getting by or getting through it because you know there is going to be a look of horror or at least discomfort if you tell them how you are really feeling. I am lucky in that I have one really good friend who doesn't accept that answer and pushes me to be honest with them. People that don't know me well or prior to my loss have no clue what the real me is because if you do let them know how you really feel, they disappear. Most of my "friends" haven't been in touch in months. Keep up the fight Ross. Tom thank you for tackling a subject most people run from.

I lost my wife just over two years ago and I completely understand what you’re going through. The pressure to “put on a happy face” is overwhelming at times but at the same time, you don’t want to talk to people because you don’t feel like worrying them. My heart goes out to you and your family for your loss. 😔

Ross just hearing you say that this has been an ongoing situation for you since 2013 was enough to help me a lot. My own issues hit me around the same time and it took a literal suicide attempt two years ago to make me start clawing my way back out of that hole. Ironically I just today got a call that after half a year of covid overbooking there is a free slot with my new therapist so I hope things will keep moving. All you guys are a tremendous inspiration to me in seeking to live of my creativity and not let my stupid brain get me down. Thanks for all you do.

I'm a geordie lad who grew up without a dad (and a poet who didn't know it), raised by my gran who never let strokes or cancer kill her off so this all rings very close to home for me. Ross is spot on that it's all about being a lad, enjoying footy and never talking about your feelings. I had a mental breakdown in 2016 as a result of never dealing with my past and I'm still recovering from it now. Don't ever feel ashamed to talk to someone because when it's too late it's too late whether that's a breakdown or something far worse. Good job raising more awareness with this video guys and thanks Ross for opening up about your struggles.

Mad props to Ross for his honesty, i'm sure he did alot more for other people without realising it at first struggling with mental health particularly in this awful year, firstly with his entertaining videos and then by being honest about his own struggles. Alot of people have had mental health issues before this year and in lockdown, the cultaholic videos gave people same great entertainment in these times and Ross being honest about his own struggles make him even more relatable and a legend. His WTF moments are a high point of any week and what he does for alot of people should never go unnoticed.

Words cannot express how grateful and how honoured I am to have heard you talk about this. You are incredibly brave and a wonderful person. I myself have been struggling with mental health and death has been a huge part of that. I lost a friend last year to a stroke, and it really shook me. He was 28. Two weeks older than me. On top of the other chaotic stuff in my life, that was a huge blow. 2019/20 has been a difficult time. In September this year I moved flats and it didn't turn out the way I had hoped, and everything blew up. My partner and I were getting angry at each other, I lost hope in ever achieving anything and was so ready to die young a no one that I had a moment like you did on the track. I had it on a bridge. A split second but my god I was scared I went there. I eventually told my partner during a row of all things, but I think it changed a lot for us. I am currently going through therapy and it has been incredible. My partner and I are closer than ever, we're getting through the tough stuff, and I have hope. Thank you, Ross thank you, Tom, and thank you, Cultaholic. Everyday I watch you guys I realise you're not just wrestling fans, but you're amazing and caring people. When this shit is over,I hope I get to meet you gents and share a drink with you. Ross, you will get through this. Because you're an awesome human. Thank you again. ❤

I lost my fiancee and child five years ago, drunk crashed into her when she was coming back from getting a check up, she was 5 months pregnant. I had already been dealing with depression but managing it after failing university, but that, then losing my father... I can really understand where Ross is coming from, feeling so.... detatched (?), you're just going along with the flow, not really thinking about it or dealing with it, then something happens, it becomes too much and you just have to step back. I've not gotten there yet, I'm trying to manage it, I've finally got a goal to work towards again, I feel some self-worth in myself again that had been missing for a long time. Thank you guys for talking about this, making it feel more normal to have this kind of talk and discussion.

I'm 33, and I'm here in America as everything seems to be collapsing like the fall of Rome. I would just like to say, I appreciate the hell out of all you guys. In the last 6 months: my ex left me, my grandfather and his wife died of cancer and medical complications, my grandmother died of Covid, a childhood friend died from an infection, and my step mother's brother died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. I know exactly where Ross is coming from when he talks about finding it hard to find the strength to keep getting up. You have been there for me and many others, even if you don't realize it. Thank you. It means more than you know.

ROSS! WE LOVE YOU! This here is the most important video on your channel. It's about time people are more open and willing to talk about their struggles with mental health and well being. We need to erase the stigma about depression and start an honest discussion, and this is as honest as they come. This video is a step in the right direction for all of us who suffer. Thank you. We love you. We love you.

I’ve watched my mother and sister battle mental health this year harder than ever. One thing I love about Cultaholic is the diversity in content. You guys never cease to put a smile on my face, proud of you Ross for being able to open up about things others tend to hide. Thank you

Talking about mental health is inconvenient and scary at first, but by the time you've really gotten going it's so much a cathartic experience. Thank you both for adding to the conversation and sharing your experiences.

This was wonderful. Thank you Ross for sharing. Talking about mental health issues is always difficult. Even with the advancements made and awareness raised, it still feels challenging, opening up like this. Thank you for doing so. It is great to hear from you and to hear that you are in a better place mentally. It's a constant struggle, a battle that wages for years. But it's good to see you're winning. Keep doing what makes you happy. Tom, you are a beautiful moderator. Your empathy was so evident; everything you asked showed your genuine concern and had Ross's best interest in mind. You made this feel comfortable. Again, having conversations about mental health can be so challenging because you're never fully sure how the other person will react or respond. But having someone like you, Tom, asking heartfelt questions with genuine empathy, this truly felt like a chat between best friends who truly care about each other. I'm rambling, but I just want to thank you both for this. It always helps me with my mental health hearing and seeing people I respect discuss this topic so openly and understandingly. Cheers to you both.

This whole year has been a mess. Thanks for giving others the opportunity to know they're not alone. Dealing with depression is something I don't know in person, but surely somebody can actually feel identified listening to this hour long talking 💜💜💜

This hits home so much for me. What Ross is saying is exactly like me. I take a while to open up to people, I worry what people think of me, only a select few know the real me. It is a real struggle.

Dear Ross, first of all, I want to tell you have a MASSIVE Respect from my side, it was really brave, courageous to open in such a degree to us in this video. Even though, I follow you guys since Whatculture, since the early days of King Ross, it felt that I got to know you more in this one hour than during all those years altogether. It was mentioned at the end, but really, the unconditional love, friendship and happiness in Tom's eyes and voice towards you was something you should always take with you and recall if you find yourself back to a place of doubt. I'm almost sure the majority of us, viewers, had the same reaction. As for I could relate to you - as this year brought me a lot in terms of self-development, releasing personal demons, etc. it was great to hear you, sharing your stories. Secondly, the first bit, when you talked about passed relatives, it hit me hard, as it was yesterday that my parents called me that my grandma passed away. I was just staring in front of me, didn't know what to do, clicking on youtube randomly, when I saw the new "Straigth to Hell" video, which I needed the most there. Its upbeat, positive vibe brought me a much needed 'distraction' and helped me back to reality, to calm my mind. In conclusion, I would like to truly THANK ALL OF YOU for all your work, for everything.
