I could listen to Macarthur all day. By far the most intelligent pastor I’ve ever heard ...and I’ve heard a ton. He unapologetically preaches the truth of Scripture. His books are excellent. Strange Fire is a must read for all the Pentecostal / mega church church attenders who are going only for the experience ...how it makes them “feel”...as opposed to hearing straight forward expositional preaching of the Word. He referenced it briefly in this interview when he spoke of Jesus saying to many ...”Depart from me. I never knew you.” The most chilling verse I can think of...and it applies to millions of people today...which is sad. Great interview. 👍🏻

Paul Gross that’s so completely ignorant. Did you wake up as God this morning, since you seem to be the great decider of who goes to heaven and who goes to hell? First of all, the very fact that you would say something like that demonstrates that you likely don’t have a Christian bone in your body. My guess is that you are either a Pentecostal, a Catholic, or among the various other cults. Of all the people on earth to attack and proclaim that he is going to hell...you go with John MacArthur??? Lol. Your heart is as dark and stone cold as it could possibly be. Sad. Dr MacArthur preaches the truth of the Gospel. It bothers some who don’t want to hear it...you are obviously among that lost group. Sorry to hear that. Maybe you should look in the mirror with all your judgements? “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. (Matthew 7:1-2) Good luck to you.

You are obviously not a Christian and do not have a personal relationship with Jesus our Lord or you would not dare speak about cursing people to hell. U have no clue u clueless creature about what hell is so take your satanic comments else where. Pray that the Lord opens ur scaled eyes and heart to see Truth b Cos u r blind and dead in ur trespasses and sins and heading to the one place u curse others to go. So repent and get right before God before u end up there urself!!

John preaches a truth that transcends this wicked planet. As Christ was crucified by those who accepted the iniquity of the world so his obedient servants/sons and daughters will be hated for His truth they preach. But remember, there will be a payday someday. We will be required to answer for every word we speak.....We all should fear that day if we are without Christ.

They may well be intelligent men, but it is their God-given spiritual discernment that is so much of a blessing to this fallen world, including the Church. They are committed to the Word of God and recognize false doctrine for what it is. Before anyone tries to judge the motives of these men, I would encourage them to earnestly search the Scriptures. There is so much corruption in the Church today that in error, professing Christians regard men like this as false teachers. May the Holy Spirit teach them through his Word so that they too will "earnestly contend for the faith".

@@brendatajik6150 and I shall add another: 5:47 -- here's where he began losing me. John the Baptist (etc.) did not pick their fights, IMHO, as much as fight the fights the Lord sent them to fight. And the Black Robe Regiment might have been dissuaded from calling forth Christian patriot warriors. When he joined in later bashing Trump -- for all the WRONG REASONS! let him preach against Trump's over-weening pride &c, and call him & other political leaders to repentance for SPECIFIC sins -- I stopped. It is sad that your comment is so anti-Christ. I pray one day God opens your eyes Paul to the Truth of His Word. Not really sure why you are so aggressively negative. Typically the ones who curse others do not know that you are inflicting Hell on yourself. So Lord Willingly please open scripture and ask God to open your eyes. If Pastor John is not ur type of preacher give grace and mercy and move on. Or maybe you can’t see God’s Grace and Mercy and therefore can’t give it to others.

Pastor MacArthur is very similar to Warden Norton from the 'Shawshank Redemption'. Warden Norton was a zealous Christian, stuck firm to prison doctrine, and actually had a good sense of humor if you watch closely. However, just like Warden Norton, Pastor MacArthur occasionally goes a little too far. This can be illustrated by his treatment of Pastor Beth Moore, in which he said "Go home!"

John MacArthur is an openly admitted 5-point Calvinist, following the heretical teachings of John Calvin (1509-1564). In particular, it is the false doctrine of the PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS upon which the Lordship Salvation heresy is based. Heretics like Paul Washer, Ray Comfort and John MacArthur teach that if you don't stop living in sin, then you never got saved (in effect, they are adding the FRUIT of the Christian faith with the ROOT of our faith, which is a false gospel). The way a person lives has nothing to do with whether or not they believe on the Son of God. Eternal life is a free gift with no strings attached!

Depression: At 10:59 Dr. MacArthur responds to question, saying depression is related to unfullfilled expectations. There is some distant, indirect truth here, but the more direct, more true answer is that depression is caused by suffering without a transcending, greater purpose. Mother suffer painful childbirth, but there is a transcending, greater purpose to that suffering they have been waiting 9 months for, so most mothers do not suffer depression about that childbirth suffering. The suffering of Jesus Christ on the cross is also suffering for a transcending purpose; the salvation of all humans. The above is based upon the works of Dr. Viktor Frankl, Logotherapy, and his book "Man's Search for Meaning".

I am shocked how many naive and careless pastors welcome John MacArthur, because the man clearly teaches the demonic doctrine of Lordship Salvation. MacArthur also treads underfoot the necessity and efficacy (power) of the literal, physical, precious, blood of Jesus Christ! Literally, MacArthur teaches that Jesus' physical blood soaked into the dirt at Calvary and stayed there, having no significance of itself. That's blasphemy and a deadly teaching, because without the blood applied to the mercy seat in the Old Testament, the sins of the people weren't atoned for. If the blood hadn't been applied to the home's doorpost in Egypt, the firstborn died. Likewise, if Christ's literal, liquid, precious, blood hadn't been sprinkled upon the heavenly Mercy Seat to appease the wrath of Father against man's sin, our sins couldn't have been washed away.

No where in the Bible are we told that a sinner must receive Christ as “Lord” in this sense to be saved. John 20:31 plainly states, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” The Gospel of John was written to convince us that Jesus is “the Christ, the Son of God.” You don't make Jesus Lord... He is Lord! The idea that placing one's faith in Jesus Christ is not enough to be saved, but that a guilty sinner must also make Jesus the Lord of his life is pure works salvation. Such heresy is 100% is of the Devil.

I love Dr. MacArthur and I find him to be well balanced, but I have to disagree on his answer about depression. As it’s core, it is actually a physical illness, off course sin can get in and make things worst and having high expectations definitely does that, but I have personally had seasons when I would experiment sweet fellowship with the Lord and in a state of thankfulness, and yet, feeling like crying all the time. As a redeemed sinner, these emotions brings on guilt as you are being told you should not feel those emotions and it is because you are in sin that you are feeling that way, however, especially when there are hormonal changes such has menopause, pregnancy and the like , can bring on depression. There are also other illnesses related to micro ion imbalance which can bring on depressive symptoms. It is a blessing in a way though, because it does make you look at yourself and make sure you are right with God and rest in His peace and joy, all the while crying your eyes out. Charles Spurgeon and Martin Luther suffered from depression and yet, those were some of the most prominent servants of our Lord.

"Depression is simply a morbid and consistent focus on things that are negative". ---> This statement is out of bounds and unfortunately ignorant. I say the following as a loving rebuke: MacArthur's understanding of depression is incomplete and shortsighted and especially hurts the people suffering from depression for a whole variety of reasons. I have to correct this as someone who suffers from depression personally. While I can appreciate this man for his service, he clearly does not understand depression and has never suffered from it. Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain and the cause of that imbalance can vary! Depression can and does happen as a result of things that are out of one's control. I have an inkling mine might be related to my heart. No amount of positive thinking undoes this, folks. Strong and partially educated views like this are why people don't get help from the communities that should be there to help them. This highly educated man essentially implied that all cases of depression are self-induced. You're going to have to forgive this man for his ignorance. If you are one who suffers from depression due to unfortunate medical circumstances, I understand what you're going through!! And, even if it's due to anxiety related to trauma that others have caused you, healing from this isn't overnight! Avoid folks with this understanding of depression especially if you need real counseling for legitimate reasons. God knows(!) even if your well-intentioned friends do not.

He should have been confronted about his belief (unless he's recanted, which i haven't heard) that someone who takes the mark of the Beast can be saved when Scripture is clear in many verses in Revelation that it is impossible - once someone takes that mark (& will do so willingly, not as if s/he is going to be dragged kicking & screaming up to be forcibly be marked), their eternal destiny in the Lake of Fire is SEALED, no second chances!!!

Summed up so well. That's what I been saying. Lately. Not for long. But since God has touched my heart I knew God is love and God is in everyone. That's why we need to love each other. If we truely love God we will love others and it hurt when people doubt others. And talk down to others. I'm new to Christianity and people don't believe in my change and it hurts but they need time to tell. But if they keep denying me then how will they see? Same with others. It's not our job to judge others. We have to love each other. 😁 Thank you for acknowledging that lil part. It means a lot to me. God bless you.

@@adamnew7309 I appreciate your testimony and it certainly is amazing that you were touched by the Holy Spirit at that time. However, as the Bible is our source of spiritual information about God, I would ask you to show me the scripture that says that God is in everyone. I can find scriptures that say upon believing we receive the Holy Spirit, but I find nothing that says that we all have God in us from birth. There is a specific heretical teaching that says God is in everyone, however I can't remember what it is called right now, some kind of "ism". Closest to pantheism, which believes God is in everything and everyone. According to scripture, God is not in us until we receive the Holy Spirit which is only through being born again through faith in Christ. That is not to be confused with the breath of life we receive according to Genesis which is not the spirit of God but rather life. I hope this clears up any confusion brother.

According to God's Word ISA 53 was fulfilled at the cross. Isa 53: John 19: 35-36. John 19:37. Zechariah 12:10. This is clearly not teaching us about some future nation of Israel. Nor is Isaiah 53 about a literal Israel thousands of years after the death of Christ. Isaiah 53 is all about Calvary. And the then nation did look on Him who they crucified according to God's Word. Read all of John 19. Note verses 33:37. God's Word is so true. People be like the Bereans in the Acts of the apostles 17:10-12. 1st John 2:27. God has given us teachers but don't just follow blindly. Follow Paul's example. 1st Corinthians 3:3-9. Do not put any man on a pedestal. For even the Lord has said through His Apostles, God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. May God by His Holy Spirit teach you and lead yous into all truth as He has promised to. Take care. Jeff.

5:47 -- here's where he began losing me. John the Baptist (etc.) did not pick their fights, IMHO, as much as fight the fights the Lord sent them to fight. If our Founding Fathers would have listened to such preaching, they would NEVER have broken away from the divine right rule of King George III. He was among the VERY few remaining Evangelical worth their salt, nowadays. No more, IMHO. THE RISE OF THE FOURTH REICH is upon us. ANATHEMA MARANATHA!

I love John MacArthur, but he is wrong about depression, he makes it sound like if you are a true Christian you do not get depressed, WRONG.I do love lots he teaches this is not a MacArthur slam really do not want to come off as that. Her is a Calvinist and that is a man made doctrine, John Calvin, that I do not agree with.

Gayle Bublitz he never said that tho. He clearly said a Christian can suffer depression. He also explained why they do. Not sure what you are hearing.

Did you know that John Calvin didn’t develop the Tulip or call his theology Calvinism? Those were ascribed to his teaching after he was dead. If you have issues with Calvinism it the scriptures used which you would have to deal with, it is scriptural based and can be challenged against scripture. I believe the reformed doctrine of soteriology because of what the scriptures claim not because a theologian claims it, test it against scripture and you bring a case against it.

Speaking of pronouns, Todd keeps saying, "Me and X did..." On Wretched. That's like saying, "Me did it." It's just distracting.

So, it sounds like JMac assumes the Lord gave him the authority to be judge and jury of people’s salvation early in his ministry. He’s always been very sinfully judgmental. Even creating a cult like following. He’s spent 50 years bashing every pastor and church, but he’s actually been the biggest divider of the brethren.

I used to think and say the same sort of things about Jon MaCarthur in my earlier years. It wasn't until I came to a renewed understanding and sincere quest for knowledge and walking in the Word of God that I peeled the wool off from over my own eyes, FOLLOWING THE WORD OF GOD is not HUMAN ARROGANCE but the VERY ANTITHESIS of it in fact. Through the Authority of God's Word we are commanded to rebuke unbiblical, ungodly actions of all that is counterfeit and incongruent to the ONE AND ONLY eternal TRUTH and AUTHORITY that is the Christ and his living Word. 2 Corinthians Chapter 10 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Spiritual warfare isn't "chasing demons" ?!.. um I doubt these guys have ever encountered a real witch.. matter of fact, a real Christian. Look up John Rimerez

Leon D I’ve never encountered a witch. Those things are subjective, I was in a Pentecostal church. A lot of weird things go on in there; noises and people falling backwards, etc. That’s not biblical.

@@frankpichardo5299 Frank, it is not my personal feeling or my "taste" for the demonic, it has been my calling to study and defeat the enemy by exposing him and his tactics.. however that being said there are countless things that happened in those times that aren't in the bible or "biblical" that we learn by experience it just takes faith to speak in to the realm of the spirit and all kinds of things will happen. We as Christians are commanded to do so. Jesus did it and so should we

Leon D The miracles and wonders were necessary before we had the written Word. It’s by faith and not by sight. The Canon is complete, everything we need is in the Bible.

If you think spiritual warfare is going around hunting demons rather than fighting your own flesh, you've been lured away from being an effective witness. Satan's deceptions include luring people away from focusing on Christ to fighting him. You most effectively fight satan by focusing and preaching Christ.

I think Todd is funny. You have to watch his show or listen to his radio broadcast - he will occasionally throw humor into it. He never jokes about God but about human circumstances or about human misunderstandings of God's word. He's actually very, very smart and you should do yourself a favor and watch his street sermons (he's very gentle with people that disagree with him....very talented presenter of the Gospel and of truth)! God bless!

John MacArthur teaches that every believer is NOT assured a home in Heaven. According to MacArthur, one's salvation is DEPENDENT upon the life he or she lives. This is the damnable heresy of Lordship Salvation!

@Unkindnessof Ravens - MacArthur states in HARD TO BELIEVE (pg. 93): “The life we live...determines our eternal destiny.” The implications of this statement are startling. If MacArthur's statement is true, then Hell is going to be the eternal destiny of every human being! According to Romans 6:23 we have all earned for ourselves eternal death. The life we live does not determine our eternal destiny. The Bible consistently teaches that salvation is not based on man's effort, but rather on the perfect work Christ did on Calvary's cross when He died to pay for our sins.
@gldesmarais9356

@The Bibliognost - The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ died for ALL because ALL were dead in trespasses and sins. If a person dies in their sins and goes to Hell, their gift of eternal life will rot in Heaven. All of mankind’s sins have been paid for by Christ at the Hill of Cavalry. This is where Jesus hung on a cross and paid the great price. Jesus paid for the sins of the wretched sinner and all that sinner needs to do to be saved is to admit their sin and turn to Christ in faith for the forgiveness of sins, believing that Christ and Him alone will save.
