Wrexham progress once again in the FA Cup, continuing a solid season so far where they're right up at the top of the League Two table. Phil Parkinson's side progressed to the Fourth Round with a scrappy, fortunate win. But it was another big scalp from a higher league in Shrewsbury, a rival, and another sign of their growing momentum.

Wrexham is currently sustainable based on full stadiums every match. The driving force behind spending is the success of Welcome to Wrexham. Current income for club is £20 million. Average income for League 1 club is £9 million. Average income for Championship clubs is £24 million (excluding 6 new clubs from Prem and League 1).

Good comparison. Just shows how big the leap to the Premier League must be, but great progress for Wrexham's finances so far. Would love it to stay sustainable

you forgetting tro count the merch, every time they bring out kits for sell, they are all always completely soldout in a matter of days. i been trying to get a kit since year and half ago, and just now I finally was fast enough to get one, and I couldn't even get a home kit, but only a third kit. I'm not sure how much they make per shirt or anything else, but they keep selling these out completely which also effect their income. and let's not forget these big sponserships, I never seen a sponsor like United on a league 2 kit, just saying.

@@EverGameStudiosThe shirt sponsorship is huge .. airlines .. are usually reserved for the bigger Premier League clubs. United almost definitely are on a stage payment system with increases for every promotion to higher division. The merchandise revenue is not “crazy” money but is something that would help keep club sustainable if /when Welcome to Wrexham money goes away. It’s in the 100’s of thousands, much higher than other clubs but not “Hollywood” money. Both of these elements would be included in the approx. 20 million revenue stated above.

The 2022 accounts, the latest available, do not include income from Welcome to Wrexham. Where did you pull the £20m figure from? The docuseries income will never be reported as income to the club as it cannot be part of the long-term financial basis for the club.
@WNN_PaddyPower
@WNN_PaddyPower 5 ай бұрын
@@TR4zest The figures came from Wrexham CEO Fleur Robinson. Estimated increase of turnover from £7 million to £20 million. Welcome to Wrexham profits are not football club profits but payments made from Welcome to Wrexham to the football club is counted as income and must be reported as such. It is possible that payments to the club had not occurred during period for last official accounts. It is also possible/likely that the income is added under “non football income” such as TikTok Sponsorship is not added as separate line to not give detailed private figures out to the public.

I just laugh when people say Wrexham just have money and that's why they win. As if all the other owners in the EFL are paupers who can barely afford socks for their players. Outside of a handful of clubs owned by a supporters trust, all the other clubs are owned by rich people. Peter Lim, David Beckham and the Class of '92 at Salford City have way more money than Reynolds and McElhenney ever dreamed of having. So it's not just about money. (Otherwise Chelsea would be 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League right now.)

Completely agree! The investment has been handled in the right way and has put the club in such a positive place, that’s what a club of this size needed

Money is vital but wasted on clubs and teams without a cohesive spirit and healthy culture. Parkinson - and others - were given time to get that culture up and running. I think its why they respond so well to setbacks. No-one is blaming anyone else, no-one is wasting time and effort adding their personal beefs into a toxic pit of a dressing room. Instead, they concentrate on getting the basics right and forcing their game plan onto the opposition. Ryan and Rob's inclusion of the community into their decision making right from the start showed a rare understanding. That ethos of community and pulling together has definitely become part of the playing culture making Wrexham an attractive place to ply your trade, and together with the financial resources to augment as needed...it's a winning combination.

The positivity of the owners seems to be so infectious across the club and the community and that’s what football is really lacking right now! We love to see it!

As a long-standing Wrexham fan, my view of the Shrewsbury cup match is that Wrexham took some time to adjust to the pace and strength of players a league higher. In the second half, we countered that weakness through playing better football. I think (and the final score confirms) it was a tight game. So if Wrexham are promoted, I think we will struggle next season, without some major recruitment and investment, which might be found wanting with the investment off the pitch in the redevelopment of the Kop end.

Fair comment about the adjustment period. But they did adjust which was admirable. Shrewsbury were a great test of their progress.

While the Kop will chew up money, how does revenue sharing increase as a team climbs the leagues? -New American "plastic" (?) Wrexham fan. I can see the club idling mid table in League One for a season or even two but the additional Kop seat revenue should keep them sustainable. But also there's no reason Rob and Ryan can't find another partner. What's Jason Sedakis doing? 😂

i was at the cross border derby live from Croud meadow and shrewsbury were the stronger looking side to me anyway, they missed chances i've seen school kids finish so clear cut and they also hit the bar and missed 2 open goals that's the fa cup anything can happen, good luck to Wrexham's real fans on the rest of their cup run.

Shrewsbury were so wasteful it was embarrassing. That's why I'd say Wrexham were lucky to an extent. Better teams would have punished them.

Great video 👍. Just a quick note to say the club are losing money on new temporary kop stand. It cost more to buy/rent and put up than they can recoup in ticket sales.

This is assuming that they are ready to go with KOP in the summer… they should be but if not then they should be making money on the stand next season. Although a big deal has been made about Wrexham losing money on the stand I doubt it’s a lot of money by end of season. The optics of “doing it for the fans” does have a marketing value in itself. Good on them either way for getting another 2000 fans at the games.

Forget about crowds ..that will never be enough even with a full sradium..It is more about sponsorship and ancillary funding ie shirts , hospitality etc As long as the ' Hollywood influence ' can keep generating the extra money then the story will continue Phil Parkinson must be in dreamland with the budget he is wirking with ...my concern would be as the journey through the leagues continues the quality of football has to improve which will mean the los of some favourites

ie - Parky! He's done the hardest part in getting out of that league, fair play to him, and I do now rate him as a motivator (after seeing his 'enthusiasm' on W2W)....but don't reckon he has the tactical abilty - or plays the kind of football that'll be needed going forward IMHO.

The budget is definitely an influence but it’s still a tough gig to get past the Hollywood attitudes and get the team playing together and managing egos at that level and Parkinson has done so well

Yeah, only the 2 on target was pretty wasteful. Shrewsbury hit the bar and just hit plenty wide or over. Poor finishing

Shrewsbury finishing is terrible… take your chances or lose. It happens every weekend in all leagues.. stronger team dominates weaker team. Stronger team doesn’t finish their chances, weaker team finishes, Stronger team losses.

Wxm...lucky? I don't believe for 1 second they were "lucky" they grafted their arses off and finished the shot. Regardless of the deflection the ball was going bottom corner. Who's to say it was 100% going to be saved? Not like Shrewsbury, they couldn't finish the play.. and if you can't do that then there's no point making a play. The way i see it both had 11 shots and wxm were making theirs count.....not trying their luck like Shrewsbury were

A deflection by definition is lucky! But I agree with your general point, they worked hard for the win and got the reward. We're not criticising Wrexham by any means! It's another impressive result
