With this variation on an old folk toy, Rob shows how to make a very realistic wriggling snake using old corks and a ribbon and other stuff lying around the house.

And here I thought it was some complicated mechanism; I love how they distill these things down to their simplest form

I met a lady who was the script writer for Humphrey 🤯

I have heard that Here's Humphrey was unusual in that it was written by a team of freelance writers.

The kids program on Channel 7 in Perth had Percy the Penguin and Fat Cat. Before the Fat Cat era, there was a robot-type of character for a few weeks -- a squarish head and rectangular body. The robot didn't do much other than wave its arms and rotate its head because the rigid sides of the outfit prevented free movement, and this ultimately caused it's demise. One day, it tried to shuffle backwards, and tripped over cardboard boxes behind it. The robot fell back and over. The next thing you saw was a guy's head with sweaty-hair (and a bewildered expression) sticking up from the rectangular body, the robot head having popped off. The female host gave a mixture of a gasp and a muffled laugh, then they immediately cut to a commercial break. After the break, the show carried on and never mentioned the robot again.

@@CuriosityShow I remember the magazine "New Idea" sometimes had a one-page "make and do" Curiosity Show/Humphrey crossover. Things like "make an electro-magnet out of a nail wrapped in wire".
