In partnership with TEDxUAH in this event, Mr. Son has somewhat answered that question via his shared thoughts and experiences in the journey to explore the diversity of the Vietnamese language through “Write to Know”.
In a duration of 20 minutes, Mr. Son has successively introduced 5 of his projects on words: Chuong tren tu; Chu oi hinh ne; E co khi nao?; Giang ho chinh ta and Hung ho with a variety of wordplays like spoonerism, vice versa, mixing words with images and combination of both Vietnamese and English,... and so, Vietnamese was approached in a new and different perspective, improvisational and even... un-imaginable, out of the ordinary just like his work process and nickname “Soi An Chay”.
We grew up, live and use Vietnamese on a daily basis just like breathing air, who knows this language can be so transformative, wowed us at the we have almost missed, the creative environment requires us to constantly create new values, but the “new” needs to be connected to our traditional databases which is in everyone’s mind, hence the “old”, it's a valuable treasure and infinite source of ingredients for us to utilize and dissect, as needed for us to analyze, turn over and put under new perspectives with more energy, new "new” will appear, there are so many corner of Vietnamese that we haven’t touch upon, is it maybe because we’re too satisfied, comfortable with our knowledge of Vietnamese to move away from the potential of such a familiar material.
