The thriller was born when they made the detective female instead of a the hard boiled male detective. The audience was more concerned with the female detective and then they just kept doing variations on that idea. The hero is in peril and not in a place of power in a thriller and there is also a mystery to be solved. An action story doesn’t really have the structure of a mystery or detective story. Action is basically about war and fighting not uncovering a cerebral mystery. There was always going to be crossovers but that’s the gist.

For some of you, people need to realize that action, and adventure films are not the exact same genre. I usually don't like when some people tend to lump up the action genre with the adventure genre as if there's some kind of a link between them. Do you guys know that action films are more intense than adventure films? Do you guys know that action films are more fast-paced than adventure films? Do you guys know that action films focus solely on combat than adventure films? Do you guys know that action films are way messier than adventure films? So, therefore, there's nothing similar about these 2 genres. And, besides. There are hybrid genres that do exist. Action-comedies. horror-adventure. Sci-fi-action.
