Stay away from Cuba! I went to Cuba 5 years ago and booked a flight early paid extra to come home after 3 days feeling I was going to die there or get sick from flies on food etc. Feel sorry for this family.

My uncle died in Panama at a bus stop he had a heart attack they did get his body but nothing else like personal stuff our embassy knows of these things that happen to Canadians overseas

Normal procedure is that a family member would go to Cuba, or other foreign countries, identifies and accompanies the deceased body back to their home county. That is what happened with a friend of mine dad in Mexico.

What a horrid horrid situation for this family. Send your two children back to Cuba and have the Canadian consulate in Cube meet them and get this resolved 😢. Omg, this is sad 😩❤️

Cuban govt had nothing to do with this, despite what you say...The error was made by those who work for the coroner....it happens, blame the error on the person not doing their job, not the Cuban government..

@@wakanda6754 LOL a foreigner is lecturing me about how my country is run. FYI in Cuba, everything is run and owned by the govt, from funeral homes to hospitals, schools, hotels etc... Therefore, there is no one else to blame but the monopolistic government. They charged 10K dollars to the family and the average coroner salary in Cuba is 15 dollars a month. If that doesn’t ring the bell of what’s going on in a Cuba IDK what will.

Errors of mixing bodies happened in different countries...It had nothing to do with the government but by regular citizens working for the government...The family was negligent in buying repatriation medical insurance that would have taken care of the admin hassle after the fact...Cuba found the body, and is reimbursing the $10K to the families. Embalming the body, and repatriating it is costly...The airline transporting the body is in business to make money it's not a charity organization that should accommodate careless ppl trotting the globe. Yeah, human error!

I wonder why… I don’t believe half of what you said, those kind of claims need to be accompanied by legitimate sources otherwise they’re just a bunch of nonsense. On top of that, it’s very insensitive of you to blame this very unfortunate situation on the deceased or his family. Moreover, the fact that Cubans living in the island can’t freely travel around the world does not mean individuals from other countries can’t do it either. I know it’s hard to believe (specifically if you’ve been brainwashed) but it’s totally possible. You should try it sometime 😉
