Sometimes When we worship, we don't really mean it. This is what it would look like if we were to sing what we really meant.. This was a piece during the sermon on, "Taking the Lord's name in vain"

This style is endemic to the worship-band-centric modern Christianity. The type of church that has someone playing music the whole time and when the 'worship' starts the focus is very much on the band. This style of music put me off Protestantism before I eventually managed to leave the guilt trip of Christianity altogether.

This Sunday I was looking at my wedding ring, thinking to myself that the diamonds were so sparkly. When I caught myself I was ashamed that I was lost in LaLa Land in the middle of praise and worship. If this song didn't bring home the point to anyone else, it did to me. Sometimes we need to check ourselves and our motives or we may get lost in the programs and songs/routines and lose the truth in our worship. I GOT IT!!!!!!

As a former worship leader I relate with these problems in the team and congregation way to well. HURTS us all but mostly HIM , He loves us so much and is willing to change us as much as we will let Him, He paid such a high price to save us, and set us free, and Jesus said " You are the temple of the Holy Spirit" but we still think that He lives in a building with a cross on it, So live a life of worship don't just sing a song unless you are actually Praising HIM!

A lot of people don’t go to church for the right reason but does that mean it is wrong for them to go? Why are worship teams any different? Singing worship and praise to God using His consecrated music can change people and it can also make a profound change in one’s life even if they aren’t doing it for the right reason where they can start doing it for the right reason. This video is just blasphemy and God will handle His consecrated music being mishandled in His time. I see this church being under oppression and falling into wrong doings that will come to light very soon.

Lance Crabtree I have seen the sermon and there is no preaching that can justify using consecrated music as an example of what this modern generation does... using consecrated music as humor and pretty closely blaspheming is never justified... would you kill someone or use Gods name in vain as an example of what not to do? No, I would hope not... as I stated before they God has His way of teaching lessons and misinterpretation can be fixed.
@dcrab93

Andrew Horsch No blaspheming the music would have been singing normally and not meaning it. So in your mind what makes these songs consecrated music? These songs used have been sang at concerts were one pays to go. They are on albums recorded for commercial use. They are not scripture.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS! I'm convinced that deep down all anyone truly wants is an authentic experience with God. Since we aren't actually where we ought to be in our relationship with God...it's just easier to fake it and at least trick ourselves into an emotional stirring that gets us through the day. But as the song goes...that feeling is gone by Monday morning. If only we were more intentional about what we are singing in worship!

When songs are created and written for worship they are consecrated by God for that purpose. I feel for these people who continue to make fun of the music because God will not bless them for it and they will start to see the ramifications of their actions. @@andrewhorsch4583 - 1. You cannot determine that every song is really consecrated by God (because there may be songs that are not scriptural that God will not like) 2. I believe that these singers are delivering a message, just as most preachers do! As for us Christians, probably most of us, we want to worship the Lord on Sundays ONLY! We want to love the Lord and others just a little! and the message goes on and on. It is not what they are relaying that is the "wrong worship", rather it is the kind of worship that we Christians practice and which this group is trying to portray. The video missed the introduction before and the finale after.

Thanks be to God on high that our salvation does not rest on us singing God's love or surrendering anything to Him. Rather, it depends on God's actual love and Him surrendering Himself before the Father's wrath on behalf of us sinner who never would/will. And so now, being saved from eternal hellfire, we, by nature, try our best. But what heavy laden Christians need to hear (and even the hyopcritical Christians [all of us?]) is God's constant grace. +Alex Livings not sarcastic. what they're singing is what God hears when people worship with the wrong attitude.

Surely, a God who created everything and is all powerful can understand sarcasm, no? The creator of humor cannot take a joke?

2 things: 1.) Psalm 96:1 - Sing to the Lord a new song and 2.) even when singing a new song, we are but poor, broken, habitual sinners in need of rescue.

This is brilliant! Eye opening.... It's just that sometimes, it's hard to worship when u're full of guilt...or when u can't connect to Jesus. :(

I go to this church every Sunday and the point Pastor David was making is that yes we maybe are singing the songs but at the same time our mind is not actually there. He is not calling anyone out. He is pointing out a fact.

LORD have mercy on us, we are no different than the Hebrews after 250 years of receiving their promised land, we received the US almost that long. Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal them

This is the 3rd seperate arrow pointing my thoughts in this direction today. Thank you for highlighting this...even on those days when we find it hard to enter into worship...its important to be honest with ourselves and with God. He already knows where are heart is...

Very true. Just this past weekend I was at a church that goes really all-out with their worship and we brought my sister-in-law. She is used to a very traditional, liturgical and reserved church service and worship-style and said that it was like a show.
