- Giants had fallen two games behind in BOTH the NLDS vs Cincinnati & NLCS vs St. Louis & rallied to win both series. They would have an easier time of it vs the Tigers in the World Series, obviously.
@SFforlife
@SFforlife 4 жыл бұрын
They lost the first two home games against CIN at HOME to drop to 0-2, and had to win three STRAIGHT on the road. Then they were down 1-3 against the Cards in STL. Came back from both. Barry Freakin' Zito saved the season in that Game 5 NLCS, and Tim Lincecum, who was terrible that year, still somehow helped out of the bullpen. Go figure. That season was insane.

This will go down as possibly the greatest chokejob in MLB history. The Tigers effed up with an elite hitting core, dynamite pitching and a cast of talent that most teams would KILL to have for over a decade. This team had a triple crown winner, a Cy Young winner, along with two more Cy Young-worthy pitchers and yet they couldn't win. It's as if they threw the series almost. The Giants were giftwrapped a title that year. All because the Tigers constantly underachieved.
@alexjones3511
@alexjones3511 5 жыл бұрын
Oh, no doubt the Reds and Cardinals choked. But at least they were competitive and had the Giants by the throat despite blowing their series leads. Unlike the Tigers. I mean, the Tigers no-showed the entire series. Sure, the Giants played the series of their lives but it still should not have ended in a sweep. Plus, the Tigers were favored to win that series, and on paper, they had a much better team than the Giants did. I just think the Tigers' chokejob stands out more than the Reds and Cardinals because again, their offense and defense no-showed the entire series. But that's just me.
