I thought the same! I wish they could somehow ban it. Make it the equivalent of yelling obscenities at the opponent. It’s unfair and distracting. The opponent can’t hear the sound of the ball coming off her racquet, which would give hints as to how well or poorly it was hit.

She is pretty adorable in her own quiet way. That support-hose thing on her leg is totally unique! Her English is not too good, so perhaps that is why she keeps quiet and downplays the media. Very underrated talent but she needs more big exposure at the majors.

Liu is a reasonably tall player, with exceptional racket head speed (long levers). She makes great use of that with serve speeds that are among the highest on tour, along with a tremendous backhand. Great stuff.

Resulta que Andreescu viene de casi dos años de lesiones y empezaba a jugar bien pero termina este partido lesionada, dos meses despues de volver a las canchas. Andreescu es como de cristal, se rompe con facilidad.

An extraordinary tournament on the behalf of Samsonova. Even though she doesn't commonly deliver a steady performance, she can get through some gruelling tussles in the rough matches. It is the largest trait of Russian tennis player. Well-deserved title from Ludmilla Samsonova!

Bianca was returning horribly in this match, I feel like Serena and Sharapova could have been pulled from retirement without training and still made better returns than Bianca did today. Hopefully she works on that going forward because the rest of her game is looking good

Nice handshake at the net. Nice to see Andreescu playing at a strong level. I'm actually surprised she didn't beat the quirky Liudmila, who is really talented but sometimes disappoints with questionable decisionmaking. I suspect, as Bianca continues her comeback, that she (Bianca) would win a rematch. Congrats to Liudmila!

I’ll never understand Andreescu’s change in demeanor and playstyle. When she won the US Open she was a lot more decisive and hit the ball flatter and more aggressively, she also wasn’t making any grunting noises, at least nothing like she does now. Now, she hits with too much topspin, plays with way too much margin and rarely tries to just put away a ball the way it’s begging to be put away, and makes these pathetic whiney grunts every single time she hits the ball. It’s as though she’s pleading to win the point when she grunts. So hard to watch let alone play against.

How Samsonova ever wins a match is beyond me! This chick has no fight , zero interest, she is 😞. Watch her v kalinskaya at Wimbledon, doesn’t give a rats arse. She does not deserve a slam spot .
