Supreme is still Supreme. I fell in love with it while I lived overseas, and I actually got on copping their nonhyped stuff. I'm still going to rock Supreme because it's an authentic, NY brand with an underground aesthetic. When those trends die, Supreme will continue to set the standard.

I feel like Supreme got kids like me into fashion which led me to thrifting and real outfits no longer flexing. I think you must give supreme credit as pivotal for getting a whole new generation into fashion.

In my opinion nothing happened to supreme. They still make clothing and great skate videos. Just the fashion and streetwear culture changed.

I think the main reason supreme has become a bit less popular over the last year or so is because they were partially bought by a hedge fund about 5 years ago.. it’s really hard to remain authentic and all about the culture when you now have shareholders to please. these establishments are looking at the business solely on a numbers basis.. a lot of these people have no idea about streetwear culture or fashion.. a lot of these people aren’t in tune with the generations and age groups that make up the majority of supremes customer base.. It’s hard to go back to being that authentic brand that everyone revered now that the old team that grew supreme to the company they are is no longer in charge

I was into supreme from 2012 until 2019 during this those times it was harder to stylish but rocking supreme always put you above the rest. However, now there are tons of other independent brands and designers that helped take away from its hype and due to the rise of TikTok and online shopping, it’s easier to spend your money on other brands to look stylish. Also, supreme’s quality isn’t what it used to be and they have been producing too much product. Lastly, alot of young suburban high schoolers kinda ruined the image but supreme will always be legendary. I just like their earlier stuff

My first supreme experience was back in 2007 and I got into in from skating. It’s always has been part of skate culture for me so I wasn’t going to pay resale on it ever. Now I’ll buy a hat or a gonz t here and there mostly for the nostalgia from my late teen years.

Still wear supreme - It's the cartoony graphic tees I love - and camp caps, I really love the camp caps. Admittedly I have a few box logos - but the more special ones, like the Teal (for getting me into supreme). And yes I do skate, and skate my supreme - I've ruined hoodies shoes and hats over skating - and don't regret it because the items are built for skating (always have been) and take a long time to destroy.

No other brand does collabs with great execution like Supreme. I also enjoy how they feature some storied artists and media. Glad I got into fashion seriously since 2017, all thanks to my cousin introducing me to Supreme

I grew up skating in the late 90’s so my style is a bit different from the kids today. Give me a supreme photo t shirt, new era box logo hat, some baggy jeans and my vans or SB dunks. Accessories are awesome! And w limited supply I’d say that alone makes the brand rare and unique

Although I'm late to the party, I only got into streetwear because luxury labels became a bit tacky and unaccessible price-wise. It was also about finding brands that I love, which is changes as you get older. You're told to love Gucci, Prada, LV, etc., not really because you resonate with the brand. I can honestly say Palace is the first brand that I genuinely love. ALD just might be the second. The edge off Supreme happened Carlyle Group came in. Getting private equity investment is great for expansion but wasn't aligned with the ethos (imo) of what streetwear is supposed to be about.

The hypebeasts killed supreme and Supreme killed supreme. Putting your brand onto pointless objects at hugely inflated prices led to it's demise. They became too cash grabbing for their own good.

I live in Williamsburg Brooklyn & every Thursday people are lined up @ the supreme store on grand street. It has less hype but still a ton of people that actually like the material & designing, they’ve dropped decent pieces this year & im glad the hype kids stopped so I have more of a chance to get something at retail.

My take is similar to yours with lowkey pieces being a huge part of trends in todays fashion, I still think branding plays a huge role with Jordan brand being on top right now along with dunks and other pieces, but I think the exclusivity kind of took a turn for the worse when they started re releasing product in a very minimally different manner. I'll still cop pieces cuz it's shaped my fashion still to this day but it definitely isn't where it used to be.

The real reason Supreme is dying: I'll start by pointing out that Supreme wasn't necessarily world famous until the mid-2010s. As they've grown bigger, they have done much more collaborations with other companies (which attracted more buyers). Some could argue that they ONLY became as famous as they are because of their collaborations with Louis Vuitton, North Face, Stone Island, etc. ... why does this matter?.. .. because now, Supreme as a standalone brand is no longer what people are interested in. Re-sellers and fans would rather wait for one (of their now, many) collaborations with others mainstream brands. In 2022, Supreme is almost completely reliant on its collaborations with other companies. They used to only do a couple collaborations every year, nowadays it seems like they have a collaboration almost every other week- it's the only way they're able to stay profitable at this point. I'm sure most of you have seen how they now drop at least two North Face collaborations every year. Doing this drives down the price for previous collaborations with the brand (they no longer hold their value).. the point is that it makes people not as interested in spending $300+ for a North Face jacket they could've got for $150 (without the Supreme name on it). Even in 2018, a Supreme x North Face collaboration would sellout in about 30 seconds or so. Since 2020/21, I've seen some of their North Face collaborations sit for weeks without selling out. Honestly, they could've just made more stock and chose to be the new Pacsun (which would've been slight work for them) but instead they decided to try to keep up the whole "sellout every release" mindset. It totally backfired on them. One last thing.. I wanted to note that the style of their t-shirts (and clothes in general) have completely changed. They rarely do patterns anymore (which used to be their big thing in the late 2000s up until 2013/14). They instead do plain tees with very minimal designs, especially their box logos- seems like they only do solid colors now [which (I think) they do because it's cheaper/less work]. All around they're non-collab clothes are just lacking these days. And that's another part of why they do all these collaborations with other brands; they're out of original ideas.

I hate the new fashion trend. It went from a punky skateboard/rap vibe to a more hippy and in my opinion old fashion look. These new fits look like someone went into their grandmothers closet, pulled out stuff from the 70’s and decided to wear it. It is old and retro simply for the sake of doing so and it seems more of a rejection of current culture in a hope of reflecting an old one which is sad imo

I know I’m late to the party. I definitely have mixed feelings for the brand. I was born in 98 so when I was in middle school/early high school it was before all the hypebeast bullshit and it was when Supreme was normally only seen on the iconic grey box logo hoodie somewhat only worn by white SoCal fuckboys posting on tumblr. That’s what started it all for me. I thought it was cool and unique. Nobody at my school knew anything about it. The Only people I saw online wearing it were cool looking guys with this young wild and free lifestyle. It’s crazy. In 2012 everyone was still wearing purple skinny jeans and had swoopy emo hair, 2015/2016 came around where it began to pickup especially with the release of the Yeezys. But locals in my small shitty southern Indiana town didn’t even talk about it or know anything about it till tiktok blew up and the whole Hypebeast thing really took off. It sucks because I know there’s a lot of people who judge and criticize you for being “just another Hypebeast.” But for me it’s just that whole 2011 Sadboi tumblr aesthetic from any outfit ya throw that box logo hoodie over. At the end of the day wear what ya want tho and be proud of it. I hate critics tho. But I feel like if James jebbia and Supreme don’t give af what anyone thinks then all the more reason for me to do the same 😎

Supreme is simply a legacy brand. When they get legacy enough, they'll call in a modish designer to update the brand. Same old same old. It's just that their customer will never be 16 again.

I think Covid also had something to do with the downfall of Supreme. Supreme before 2020 was super popular. Also Supreme attracted kids in their early teens. I think most of them grew up and realize how ridiculous they looked wearing those ugly Supreme hoodies. I was never into hype stuff, but did follow the coverage of it to see how ridiculous it has gotten.

I think their graphics definitely went downhill after 2017… but I still love the cut and sew pieces and jackets.

I stopped by the Supreme store in SF back in 2021 for the first time and genuinely liked the quality of the clothes and got a few things. I can understand the ridiculous concept of the hypebeast but with all due respect, it’s a high-quality wet dream brand at the end of the day.
