@@RacingNationTV he did win the indy lights championship, however it seemed his talents shifted from street and circuit racing to oval racing once he made the leap to IndyCar. That could've been due to the fact that panther racing usually had better oval setups and performances.

1:48 My favorite WTF moment in IndyCar. All the JR Hildebrand had to do was back off the throttle or turn more sharply, instead we get the greatest moment in Dan Wheldon's IndyCar career which made the race even better. RIP Dan Wheldon.

+DCAR Vortex editing made it look like he went off by himself. another shot shows right rear damage, you can also see another car that wasn't in the previous shot as he was passing the lapped yellow car.

TheBluBalls I was there for that race.... If I remember correctly, at the awards banquet, JR said something like, "I didn't want to be the guy who lost the 500 by pussyfooting it through turn 4...."

+Stefano Assi The Meadowlands Sports Complex track that CART, ARS (later known as Indy Lights), SCCA Trans-Am & Corvette Challenge, and IMSA GTO/GTU raced at in 1984-1987 (1.682 Miles/2.706 km Street Course) and 1988-1991 (1.217 Miles/1.958 km 'Street Roval'). Unfortunately, they stopped racing in the Tri-State Area after '91 after a failed attempt to move the race to Downtown Manhattan.

Randy Dubin The video here is from the 1990 race...which was a hot mess. Michael Andretti finished nearly 40 seconds ahead of Rick Mears, and Andretti and Mears were the only ones on the lead lap. (Misfortune meant that only 10 cars of the 28 that started finished the race---everyone else's car broke or crashed.)

Couple more I can think of ....Few years back in Baltimore...Mike Conway crashes...on Conway Steet,..right under the street sign. Did you get Graham Rahal almost being killed by a truck? Tomas Schecker. His whole career was a WTF? moment. AJ Allmendinger's seat belts
