The Patek “JEFE” 5980/1r is gone!! Few weeks ago Patek Philippe removed several coveted Nautilus models from there website in what feels is the standard move from them every year. First they remove/discontinue in the beginning of the year, then the new models roll out for Watches & Wonders. It had a great run and I do feel that it was time. Some unexpected ones where also the 5164a Aquanaut. Watch this video for the full reaction and scoop!

Good video Am on the list for a 5726A So far relieved to see this hasn’t yet been discontinued A model not many talk about / seem that interested in, but I love the annual calendar and the vintage vibes on a leather strap. Stealth Nautilus with complications

I own a 5980 1AR-001 which HAS been discontinued along with 5980 1R as neither is on the Patek website. Mine is 18 months old and I had to wait 3 years for my AD to get it. I absolutely love it. I could have gotten the rose gold one, but frankly, I favor the stainless and rose gold more. Glad I got it when I did. I think it’s the best looking watch that WAS in the catalog!! BTW the Patek website still has the Aquanaut 5164r, which I just got in June, 2013. It is beautiful!

Well said Eric, agree with not always trying to come out with something new every year and feeding the "Hamster Wheel" across the Brands. Discontinue and let current models shine in their glory and spread out the releases. Let the people enjoy their pieces for what they really were intended for at purchase. Great Video as always!

The substitute for the 5164 is probably going to be a Travel Time Chronograph like the 5924. Same thing they did with the 5524 that had the same caliber as the 5164. Patek Phillipe 5964 will be the name perhaps?

Its definitely a bummer when any watch gets discontinued from a brand like Patek. However they know exactly what they're doing and why they're doing it. The 5164A is the biggest bummer & shock, that's one of my favorite sport models from any watch brand. Excited to see what if any new models they come up with & put into production. The replacement models I hope live up to the hype, keep the standards of the brand & come out as an absolute banger that shocks the watch world as a must have & look that makes you think "damnnn that's nice why did i or they never think of that & release it sooner" .. Patek is my favorite brand and always will be, they're in a league of their own & the standard they set/maintain never falls short.

I think it’s part of their plan to raise the price (thereby brand image) of their sports model. First they got rid of a few entry level/ steel models. Now they are taking models that come with a “cheap” strap off the shelf …

I was so close to buying a 5164a, just deciding on a few different deals, then it got discontinued and prices skyrocketed. Just bad luck. So went with a Nautilus instead, better value to me now, even though it's still a lot

Looked through a 2017 Patek Philippe catalogue I have and the Nautilus line-up look the most sporty. I liked the 5726 which has the best Annual Calendar in aperture windows format of any watch and it has a moonphase and 24 Hr indication to stop you fouling the Annual Calendar mechanism. The new 5811 has a micro-adjustable bracelet. I also like the 1940s derived Perpetual Calendar chronograph from 1518 through to the present day model 5970 like you had for your wedding watch. They have opened new factory capacity in the last 24 months so they can probably increase output.

@@jackominty3633 It was around £37K around 2017-2018: There are so many good watch brands that you can buy at retail - especially Swatch Group subsidiary companies: Blancpain; Montres Breguet; Glashutte Original; Omega; Jaquet Droz; and Richemont Group: Cartier; Panerai; A. Lange & Sohne; IWC; and LVMH owned Hublot - they must have the cheapest all Platinum sports watch from 2019 The Ferrari Scuderia 90th Anniversary; Tag Heuer; Bulgari and Zenith that I would NEVER PAY OVER RETAIL FOR ANY WATCH: I lost £7K selling my 2017 retail bought Rolex white Gold Pepsi 116719BLRO and buying over retail just compounds that: You will never see that money again. The Patek Philippe 5970 is a nice watch, based on the 1940s 1518 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph: As they are not fashionable like the Nautilus, you should be able to get one at retail: Patek Philippe is primarily known for such watches produced in different precious metals and collectors get the full set of all those of a particular model made: Rose Gold; Yellow Gold; Platinum and white Gold.

5980/1R definitely the jefe. Feels better than the 5990/1R and slightly slimmer making it the perfect fit. Not to thick. Not too thin like the 5711

No big deal as the vast majority of the inventory is collecting dust on grey market dealer shelves. It’s no wonder they stopped making them. They are not making it into the hands of people who would wear them.

Glad I got my 5164 before it was discontinued. I also love my 5990R, so I don't care about the 5980R being discontinued. The complications of my 5990R (Flyback Chrono & Travel Time) are perfection, as are the proportions and the amazing Sunburst Blue dial). It's the King IMHO.

I don't like any of these Patek Philippes. If I remember correctly, I have only seen a nice Patek Philippe that you talked about in one of your videos. It was in gold with a black base and red emeralds, I think it was, you said that a watch like that had to have a bodyguard to avoid being robbed.

From a Sigma Male perspective, it is only the Ego, Stupidity, and Ignorance of the majority of non educated consumers that give this kind of power to the brands/AD's. Brands/AD's should be begging us to take our money NEVER the other way around! I refuse to play their stupid game that works ONLY on the WEAK!
