Thanks for sharing about these two cool knives; I think they are both good in their own ways, it's just a matter of personal preference. 👍 Take care my friend and Cheers!

I’m probably wrong, but I think a flat grind is a more universal cutting edge. Obviously, anything with a sharp edge can cut. I think a scandi is a more focused edge. Great looking knives. ✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️

You are not wrong at all. I agree totally. I prefer full-flat, then a high-sabre before scandi. Thanks for commenting

G'day Mark, I'm lik'n all 3. Of the 2 in question; not the be all and end all, though I am a fan of convexed edges, so I'd buy the "flat", besides, the few scandis I have are enough. I do get on very well with N690 and yep with ya mate, I'd say the sheaths are quality. With all the handle contouring, they "look" comfy, though I reckon you''ll really only know buy holding/using. Like the green and white liners and I do appreciate when ones thumb is taken care of, in the form of a ramp and/or jimping or in this case the concave shaping ....... 90 deg spine debatable, but either way easily modified. Assuming the handle ergos are there, everything to like and noth'n to dislike. Cheers Duke. P.S. have you seen the "Outlast" series ? I'm only a coupla episodes in, cant say I'm impressed so far, but hey, its easy enough to critisize from the comfort of your own home. Think I'll have another toasted sanger and turn down the heating, it's too hot in here ; )

Hey Duke. I think the full-flat is my favourite as well, although I do like the EDC. I have not heard of the "Outlast" series. Will look it up. Thanks for commenting

Hi Mark. Just got back from a trip in the bush in a rough camp site. No one for miles for most of it, tons of loons singing every night, bear poop a few metres away, very fresh wolf prints in the mud of the trail we were walking, and even deer coming into camp at night. Great times, except for the relentless deer flies. I noticed that every time a dragon fly showed up, they disappeared, and instantly remembered your video with the dragon fly clip. You’ve done so many videos that I don’t know if I can find it. Do you have a link to the video, or the person's contact info? It was a fella out your way I think. Btw, you’re smouldering egg carton idea was a life saver while in camp btw. Thanks. Wife loved it and had them running all day, but now that it’s over, she’s complaining about the smell on her clothes…..she wasn’t complaining while she was there though 🙄😀

Hey Jim, sounds like a great trip despite the deer flies. Man they can make life hard. Here are the links to the two videos I made on the Dragonfly Wingman kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p6mflq6mttnIn2Q.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r92baNym3L2ck5s.html I am still using the one my daughter bought for me at Lee Valley. I see they are available on Amazon and at Canadian Tire as well. Here is the link to the company www.getyourbug.com/ The other thing I have started using is permethrin. It seems to help with deer flies and is great for all other biters. Hope this helps

@@MarkYoungBushcraft You think permethrin works for bites? I just sprayed down my hammock so if anything joins me in there, it won’t be welcomed. We went for evening…..sorry, we tried to go for evening walks, and literally had dozens around us. One thing we noticed is the boy and I literally had a dozen at a time buzzing us, while the wife and girl only had a couple. It was really weird. I know colour of clothing can make a difference, but we were pretty well mixed up in that respect. No idea why, but I clung to the wife for protection! 😀 So I saw your video about getting full strength permethrin in Canada. Once my American bottle runs out, I’ll order some, but I wanted to ask you if you found whatever it’s diluted in worked well on clothing and gear? Since it’s made for animals, I was worried it may be oily or something.

@@jimf1964 The stuff I bought on Amazon intended for bed-bugs, etc is .35% and has been working well enough. It has a bit of a smell when I spray it but its is gone when dry. I have not tried the Ultra-Shield yet. Gina and I both attract differently as well. I am more bothered by deer flies than she is and she is more bothered by mosquitoes. I must look into it and see if there is a male, female thing at work

@@MarkYoungBushcraft That’s so weird!!! It’s the same with us! And it’s not just me and the wife, but even the kids. The wife has so many mosquito bites and was going crazy. If it was just us, I’d say it’s simply scent, but now I wonder if it’s sex too. I know I used to have a friend who would get clobbered by mosquitos, and me very few, but when he left to go to the can, I’d suddenly get attacked, amd when he came back, they’d go after him again. This is really making me wonder if it’s sex too though, cuz we now have 6 people with the same result. I don’t know if I saw the bed bug one, but more the one for animals. I’ll try it next time. For my first experience I wanted to use the Sawyer one, but with all the rain we had, I only managed to spray on the last day. Everything was wet or damp till then.

Nice to see the knives side by side in how they look and perform. I'd be sold on that handle design right out of the gate. As for which knife? I would probably "use" the flat grind one much more but I can appreciate the Scandy grind for the extra beefy character it is... I'm not so sure about the mottled finish tone.

If an over priced company like benchmade has a comparable knife with a higher end particle metallurgy steel at the same price, that’s telling me WTG can put a better steel on this knife. N690 in case you didn’t notice, isn’t my favorite budget steel. 😂
