Man shot, killed in south Toledo; woman from past relationship charged with murder

Toledo police are investigating after a 29-year-old man was shot dead in south Toledo Monday. The victim was identified by police as Derrick Kimble.
The suspect was identified as Tyrefa Hill, 27. Hill turned herself in at the safety building after the shooting and was arrested and charged with murder.
Hill and Kimble were in a past relationship, according to TPD.

Lived in Toledo for a long time, we had to move out of the neighborhood after the house exploded on the south end.

Me and my dad were talking about how Toledo is the worst it has been. Before then there was a shooting or something happening probably once maybe twice a week. but its been a daily thing now. its best to just leave Ohio if able to

Sounds like Toledo/Lucas County is going to be very busy this year… After watching the news, personally I from the area, I only see it getting worse throughout the year. Lack of policing the streets has led to this. Seems like the county is more worried about people who have already committed a crime than the people on the street committing crimes. Why talk about this, because people coming out of prison do not want to go back. People on the street have no idea the horrific conditions they will endure going into a prison!

Dang this is awful. I'm about to send my kid to the University of Toledo he's going to be playing basketball so hopefully he doesn't have all that time to be out and about he's still trying to figure out where not to go

Move toward Maumee or Sylvania OH area it's alot cleaner alot of businesses it's quiet and you BARELY hear any crimes happen out that way.

Any big city is going through crime and it will hit the country sooner or later .. unless u live in mountain area or deep in the country like Montana , wynoning , Colorado than talk

I think they need to start telling blacks that black lives matter, I swear I read nightly about another black on black shooting/killing. Has the BLM leaders come to Toledo to help deal with the senseless killings going on in these neighborhoods? My guess is they are no where to be found.

We would love to blame the police, but that is not the correct direction we need to head. The question is way over the heads of cops with high school diplomas or GED’s with 750=/- hours of training.-which is 1/3 the number of hours required to get a Barber’s license. An increase in policing is not the answer. You can’t police morality, ethics and social dysfunction. We need to take another tack, and involve more DEGREED PROFESSIONALS who understand and can influence human behavior. If you don’t favor this approach, then tell me what you think. Policing and incarceration is exorbitant expensive on taxpayers and cheat a drain on resources.
