Un anciano maestro de kung fu se queda atónito ante la decisión de su hijo de aprender de él artes marciales para que, un día, le sustituya y dirija su escuela. El anciano simplemente no puede entender por qué su hijo quiere ser un erudito en su lugar. Sin inmutarse, el anciano envía a su hijo a aprender de otros maestros de kung fu. El joven, reticente, empieza inconscientemente a formular su propio estilo de lucha, algo que le resulta inesperadamente útil cuando se ve obligado a enfrentarse a un malvado eunuco. Lo peor está por llegar cuando el joven regresa a casa. Se encuentra con que la escuela de su padre ha sido tomada por un usurpador y nada, excepto una lucha a muerte, salvará la escuela y la vida de su padre.

An aging kung fu master is stunned by his son's decision lot to learn martial arts from him so that he may, one day, take over and run his school for him. The old man simply cannot understand why his son wants to be a scholar instead. Undeterred, the old man sends his son off to learn from other kung fu masters. The reluctant young man begins subconsciously to formulate his own fighting style, something which he finds unexpectedly useful when he is forced to stand up and fight in evil eunuch. Worse is to come when the young man returns home. He finds his father's school being taken over by an usurper and nothing but a fight to the death would save the school and his father's life.
