I review the Wuben E1 (G4). This is a unique EDC flashlight that attaches to the back of your phone.
Correction: the Wuben E1 weighs 36 grams. I mentioned 80 grams in the video.
Wuben provided me a pre-production sample of the E1 for the purpose of this review. I was not paid to make this video. I have not held back on any negative opinions of this light.

Wuben E1 (G4) Video Transcript:
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
• So as many of you know, Wuben is always pushing the boundaries of the traditional flashlight… and they have recently sent me a sample of their new creation. This is the Wuben E1 (otherwise known as the G4). It's a sleek, low-profile light that seems to be targeted to influencers, photographers, or anyone looking for a compact flashlight that attaches to your phone. It's 10x brighter than your photo flashlight and is basically a miniature ring light. Now, if you have a Magsafe case with your iPhone, it will mount magnetically without any modification. However, if you have an Android phone, you'll need to use the included magnetic pad. You can use the E1 as a fill light, for low-light photography, a work/reading light, a selfie light, or as an extra slim EDC. It's also a phone stand!
• What's included in the box: I have a sample package, which comes with the light and a magnetic stand.
Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
• Made of magnesium alloy, well machined with no rough spots. Magnesium is 66% the weight of aluminium, which is why I initially mistook that the light was made of plastic initially. It's just so light @ 80 grams! This makes sense, as my phone is heavy enough as is, you don't want to be making your phone even heavier. But end of the day, the light is so small that it won't make a huge difference. Wuben will also release a titanium version. The magnesium version comes with black/white anodizing.
• Operated by one switch, reminds me of a watch crown.
• 28X SMD3030 LEDs. Three different tints - cool, neutral, warm white. 300 lumen turbo mode. The battery indicator is on the bottom left of the LED array.
• 320mAh lithium polymer battery - will sustain low 2-lumen mode for 50 hours, or 300 lumens for 30 mins. USB-C charging.
UI - modes
• Press and hold to turn on and off. The crown can be rotated each way to control brightness. Press once when on to change tint (cool, neutral, warm white)
Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
• Ceiling bounce test, CRI, CCT
• Floody, even light for close-range use. Sustained output!
Considerations
• Battery is only 320mAh - won't last long on higher modes. Good news is most phones can reverse charge so you could use a short USB-C cord for extended runtime.
• Not as bright as most tube lights. But the heat regulation is excellent. Having those smaller SMD LEDs help. It's also more portable than a normal tube light.
• Would be better with high CRI LEDs.
Verdict
The Wuben G4/E1 is the perfect EDC light if you're the type of person who's always fumbling around for your phone flashlight. You'll appreciate something more powerful and easier to switch on. Not everyone wants to carry around a fully-fledged tube light. I like how the G4 doubles as a fill light and general photography light. I've been stuck without adequate ambient light, and would've been good to have this on hand. The sustained output is impressive in a light of this size.
