Just what I was thinking. They really need to balance it more in favor of Puyo Puyo players, since it's structurally unequal.

The payoff of getting good at Puyo however is massive. The amount of garbage a good puyo player dishes out is almost half the board, which in my opinion is the biggest advantage a puyo player can have. And Puyo garbage are utlized by expert puyo players to be a "stopper" for their chains which is so much easier than making a stopper from scratch

Puyo s stacking power with chains equalize it, unless you are you better the opposing Puyo even equal Tetris has no chance

@@uneevee4397 Chaining power means jack when Tetris can fire off combos fast enough to drop garbage on you with every move. In higher levels of play, a Puyo play basically has about five seconds to mount a defensive chain before Tetris players start bringing the pain. Even then, if they get the jump on a Tetris player, all they're doing is giving the Tetris player more ammo because not only is Tetris garbage not even garbage in the same sense that it is for Puyo, but the garbage comes from the bottom instead of the top, so their building can go on unimpeded unless they have to downstack to stay safe. And having to downstack to stay safe against Puyo is like saying you have to do 10 hit combos in a fighting game instead of 30 hit combos because your opponent got their super meter filled up.

of course, drop just a little bit lower and you get swamped by Puyo. It's not that Puyo is bad, it's just that Tetris gets that much more power when fully mastered at those top levels of play. But against players who aren't that skilled, a pro Puyo is an absolute nightmare and you will see your board suddenly go from 'this is okay' to 'OH GOD HOW DID I LOSE'.
