I say this as (in my opinion) their biggest fan. Im not too keen on July, just seems like the two chords of My Hero over and over. Other than that they DO NOT MISS l. Bloody brilliant. Favourite band of the moment

TLDR AT END I WILL ADD TO THIS AS I DECIPHER IT MORE anyone who hasnt understood the meaning of the song yet GENERAL AND VERSE 1 im pretty sure jacobs talking abt either his or someone elses regrets from his own point of view. its likely that the perspective is of a domestic abuser, wether physical or mental is quite vague. "i broke your wings so you wont fly" , "spill me all your secrets, and ill sell you off for parts" , "crooked from the crater" , "bastard from the start" and especially "kept some pretty people in the hollows of my heart" imply this. Also the use of symbolism with the bird in the cage and the fact that jacob is in an empty dolls house suppourts this too. It seems to me that this is a punishment for the people hes hurt, not only is he made to feel like them (sat in an empty house with nothing but an insignificant bird) but also forces him to show empathy for them as he has to watch the bird suffer locked in a cage, the cage symbolising the feeling of being trapped in a relationship and the bird representing an abuse victim. Even the simple back and forth, two chord, progression could show the back and forth of an argument or an abusive relationship VERSE 2 The wind up toy bird in second verse could be to show that hes being tormented by what the relationship could actually be like if it went well. ALBUM Oh and quickly on the topic of why theyre using vintage toys and destroying them as a main theme in the album, its probably to show rejuvenation and getting over the past. Like how in midas is abt someone who overworks you but gives nothing in return, likely a family member, friend or co-worker that a band member has had to let go of, or in july- actually maybe july isnt a good example but you get the point VERSE 3 My point is further supported by the third verse, the lyrics r impossible to decipher after just a few playthroughs but the eye in the window could represent what occurs after being caught as a domestic abuser or, more likely, it further adds to the creation of empathy, because watching the victims every move is a very common abusive trait. He feels like hes being watched every second and every move he makes is recorded. It also may show that it is revealed in order of what happened. More deciphering of verse 3 comes from "perhaps youll be the gambler, or perhaps youll be the fool" this is jacob talking to the victim during the relationship, hes showing that whatever the victim does, they wont win, further implying mental or physical abuse. "Fill me up with silver and ill sing one just for you" im very unsure about this lyric, but it could be to show how he may have used music every now and then to make the victim happy, before suddenly disconnecting, a very common mental trick used by abusers. VERSE 4 AND ENDING My final backing of this point is that hes cut off from apologising right at the end. I think this because its simply too late. When someone has been abused, there is no more sorry, you cant apologise or promise to change because the fact is most people dont, a lot of mental abuse happens without the attacker even realising it. CONCLUSION in conclusion i think the meaning of the song is abt domestic abuse from a very clever point of view. Not only that but when youve committed an action, sometimes it is too late to apologise for it. TLDR: song is abt domestic abuse from the attackers perspective oh and dont forget that even the meaning of the song can be helped by the fact it is kept so vague, he shows so much regret that hes scared of talking abt it too explicitly if u got to this thanks for helping me practice my english essays PS. wunderhorse, if youve read this, pls say there is enough footage for a BTS, i will happily take that as a reward for this comment

Man this is gonna sound so fucked up to people who dont work in the music indsutry but its in no way a diss at the band.....cuz i love this band but i wish i could have produced/mastered this single instead of who ever did ., same with july....{ which they made it sound like a boring deftones song } what happened to the dynamic range of the first album?... but with silver the song is just so brimming with potential, and this capitalized on none of it. the lyrics should be the main focus, and the parts should all be seperated sonically. i expected honestly More like a grungy morning view type production style . like the step incubus took from science to morning view is what i expected this album to be....I would have made the chorus pop and explode after a verse and have the different vocal inflections really dig into the mids like champagne super nova . not saying i want them to copy anyone but rather Giving examples of the soundscapes i would have pulled from . the vocals kind of fade into the mix, and they DHEY desxperately need a little bridge and a big drop or a fill /guitar harmonic stroke before the chorus drops/The way they produced this and recorded it mKes it sound like a live recording of a first draft...before the dynamics had been arranged, nothing hits, it all drones like a bad filter/bush song instead of what i thought this album was gonna be....aka those huge radio rock albums from the mid 90s like soundgarden blackholesun or blur song 2 ....where the chorus's literally explode after the verse....guitar intro is too droney and loud in the mix ....and the vocal interlude in between the verse and chorus is poorly placed... . i would have stripped down the last verse to a much quieter profile. and maybe even had a short section just be bass drums and vocals raw so the last chorus explodes huge and into the guitar solo....the hook of the chorus is such a catchy well written line it deserves better dynamics ....think of the whole song as a serving dish made to prepare the chorus tojsut take you away. Oh well still a great song and still great lyrics. I realize they are probably working on a budget and dont have rick rubin in there ensuring everything will be a masterpiece hit...its just after the first album surprised me SOOOO MUCH in production value and song depth and structure....i thought this one was gonna be a logic next heavier step for them....especially recording at pachyderm. they will make many more albums and have a long career and i willsupport them the whole way. but just to put it out there if they ever read this.... i run a small studio in arkansas and if you ever come this way your recording time , and mixing, mastering are all free here.your moneys no good. im that big of a fan.

no way did you just say you wanted wunderhorse to sound like oasis thats just outright fucking criminal, liam gallagher's voice makes kurt cobains guitar sound in tune. Dont act as if u know so much abt music ("gonna sound so fucked up to ppl who dont work in the music industry") then proceed to ask for it to sound like the music industry's most hated band only loved by people who dont have any concept of music theory. also they kinda took the glorious ending lick from toms diner (giant rooks version)and stuck it behind the chorus. thats abt as close as anyone with real music taste is gonna get to oasis Also in what way is this a grunge song? its c sharp and gm chord prog and mid beat melody makes it sound like a sad pop song, nothing like grunge. and since when was july bad? its a perfect demo of how vast and able to step into any genre wunderhorse can be. Ur furthermore making urself seem stupid when u say this album has "no dynamic range" when it has pop songs like arizona sat next to blues like rain and grunges like july. I understand why some ppl say its not as good as it could be, and bbc scotland's live version with the backing vocals does sound better, but stripping the second verse? "the lyrics should be the main focus". what? they definitely where. read my essay which is one of the top comments. if u listened to it anymore than once anf scratched the surface a bit youd find the absolute glorious rabbit hole this song and its. music vid is. a guitar harmonic on the opening bridge? that note would be a bit too low to get consistently harmonics around the 12 fret r easiest but that would be way too high for this song unlike the heavenly one in girl behind the glass. guitar intro is too droney? firstly thats definitely a riff and/or a chord prog and secondly, this is a indie prog rock band, you shouldnt be expecting flashy openings that a record label will whip you for not including. nothing hits? bro "i broke your wings youll never fly"? "kept some pretty ppl at the hollows of my heart"? these r a select few lyrics that still gives me goosebumps after 30 times playing it. once again, its a prog rock band, the chorus isnt meant to explode also you want it to be a grunge song (pretty sure u contradicted urself but ur grammar is a bit off) but u dont want it to be droney... ahem. literally every nirvana song? (nirvanas great but defo droney) parklife is actually a bit annoying to me and id rather play wonderwall 1000 times than listen to the boring tosh that is basht finally nobody needs a good budget to make a good song. only fucking taylor swift and oasis need the best producers, pay for the most blatant samples and have the flashiest studio full of instruments they will rarely use
