Oooo thankyou! I’ve always chosen the carrousel as my first ride in Hershey when I visited ever since I was a little kid! Embarrassingly I didn’t know that the carrousel played multiple songs until right now.

It is possible that many years ago there was a different band organ that played the same tune over and over until someone went up to it and flipped a switch then it would play a different tuen over and over. With a total of perhaps ten different tunes. The tunes would have been encoded as tiny pins on a cylinder perhaps a foot in dameter and two feet long; similar to the tune cylinder in a music box (say inside a teddy bear) except larger.

@@allanjayne9151 Nope, pinned barrels had fallen out of fashion long before the Liberty Heights Park of Baltimore carousel was carved, which just so happens to now be the Hershey Park carousel. Hershey is it's 3rd amusement park as far as I'm aware. It had a Bruder 107 band organ according the bloke known on KZfaq as "Carrousels and their Wurlitzer's". There is a picture of it from the PTC Archives as far as I'm aware, taken when it was brand new. It's original band organ is present in the picture and was placed in an alcove in the building housing the carousel. The Wurlitzer 153 there now came from Marion, Ohio, from Crystal Lake Park as far as I remember. I know it was something like that anyway.
