3:29 if you pause, you can see an anchor stamp with a number beneath it just ahead of the rear sight. That means this Garand saw service in the Danish navy. Fun little fact!

Felt like I had to say this, but the "ping" that is heard when the clip is ejected from a Garand was mostly indistinguishable in the heat of battle. The only time that the enemy might be able to hear it was in close quarters fighting, and even then the sound rarely had an effect on combat. It was very unlikely that one guy would take on a bunch of German soldiers single handed, so one guy empties his gun there's a good chance there is another guy with his already loaded.

Germans had the best weapons overall, all the way up to big stuff like jets and rockets. The only reason why they lost is cuz Brits decoded their transmission via Alan Turning (aka The Father of Computer Science) to allow the "untouchable" Americans across the ocean to ship unlimited supplies to the Allies.

Great video, those are my favorite WWII weapons. I feel though the M1 Carbine was an underappreciated weapon. It has enough energy to pass through most Kevlar vest so it's far better than any pistol caliber weapon.

So that was awesome if you can imagine this much fire power back in world war two. As I've said a few times, a time when many of your enemies had bolt-action rifles and you've got a machine gun like this. Especially for close-quarters when you really run into those evil soda bottles. Really impressed. - Professional Russian @ 7:10 is the best quote I've ever heard hahaha.

Enemies hearing the M1 ping is really just a myth. 1. Combat rarely happens at a couple meter range 2. It takes just a couple seconds to load a Garand 3. When you are out of ammo, you would not be alone, you would have your friends with loaded weapons around you. Also, the only time when someone really had an advantage for having SMG:s was in Winter War when defending Finns had their KP-31:s against the Soviets who had no SMG:s. This is what convinced the Soviets that they needed an SMG of their own and they developed the PPSh-41.

I always had wondered how realistic the little "ping" sound the M1 Garand makes after its clip was empty was in different video games. Surprisingly, it's not too far off from most games except the ones who obviously fail to include that sound effect.

Germans only started putting the MP44 into service during 1944, when it was already too late for them to win. MP40s fired a pistol round, so at range they were terrible. And the MG42 ran out of ammo so fast that the crews had to rely on their Kar 98k.
