Hogan was a disgusting egomaniac who felt threatened that one of his colleagues had a pretty wife on his shoulder. He needed to have a storyline where Liz left Randy for Hulk. If he'd moved to JCP he would have DEMANDED a storyline where Precious left Jimmy Garvin for the Hulkster. (Luckily he didn't move to JCP and now Jim and Patti are an elderly couple with grandkids.)

I love Savage's work (see my other reply arguing that he is literally the greatest ever, or at least of the last 40 years) but I disagree. I think genius of it is that similar to something like the best Marvel movie villains (e.g. Killmonger in "Black Panther"), he absolutely has a point. but the conclusions he draws from it as well as the way he deals with it was definitely heelish (accusing Hogan of having touched Liz inappropriately, which was obviously a stretch, the whole emergency room attack, ...)

There's actually a hogan promo where he responds to this one by saying that Macho took things out of context. So it's actually a surprisingly good storyline. It's really a shame that we don't really see this anymore in wrestling. There are attempts more recently I'd give them that.

Reb Brown It's well documented that Randy was very protective of Elizabeth at that time as Liz was one of the very few females around the locker room then. It's also widely known that as Randy and Warrior were roading together as the Maniacs tagteam, Hogan and his then wife meddled in their already fractured marriage and then that ultimately broke down. Hogan was the biggest manipulator going. He absolutely hated others getting over and potentally stealing "his" spot. It's one of the reasons why he left WWF in '93 as he couldn't stand Bret being the face of the "New Generation". It's why he screwed Bret out of the belt at Mania IX, then refused to drop it to him at KOTR instead dropping it to Yokozuna. His meddling was in full force when he was given creative control at WCW and we all know how THAT ended up.

Without even watching any other WWF show from the 80's to early 90's, Hogan somehow managed to get himself into every single Wrestlemania main event until the 10th Wrestlemania, even if he wasn't in the match (Wrestlemania IV), his non-title match was the main event over the World Title match featuring the other 2 most famous wrestlers in the world (Wrestlemania VIII), and the worst finish to the "biggest wrestling show of the year" where he already appeared as a tag team in the middle of the card, but finagled his way into winning the championship in a quick squash to end the show (Wrestlemania IX). "You either die a hero, or live long enough to become the villain"...and this quote perfectly reflects "the biggest babyface in history".

My dad said sometimes back in the early 80s he'd have beers with some of them (Greg the Hammer can drink like a fish he said) and even once got us backstage in the early attitude era to meet some of the guys, although briefly, the nicest guy of the lot was actually Billy Gunn. He stayed and talked to 15 year old me and a buddy of mine for like 20 minutes. Just a good dude, and I've always been a fan since that interaction. I have no one left, I live completely alone in a huge estate my grandparents bought and paid for before I was ever born. Too many bedrooms I can sleep in a different room every night for a week. It's just myself and my cat Patrick. There has been dark times, I contemplated killing my self and too many times, quick rub and a squeeze squeeze, ot hot dogging and grand standing has popped in my mind only to start laughing and finding myself watching another episode of osw. There's no amount of praise I can ever say that would re pay all three of you. I might not be here. Guys, all three of you, youtube subs, ad revenue doesn't matter. All three of you are saving people's lives by bringing just a little bit of light and laughter to people's lives where the dark of the covid nightmare have made so many give up.

Warrior did so many bear hugs because he would get too blown up from running to the ring, shaking the ropes and basically using up all his energy before the match so by the time it starts he is already winded. At least that is what I heard Hogan and Scott Hall say in other videos. I totally believe that too.

The 105:40 mark. The term monsoon used was "a Uecker seat", which is a term used for an obstructed seat at the old county stadium in Milwaukee. Because the Uecker seats were obstructed by the building architecture, the only way to properly follow the game would be to listen to hall of fame radio broadcaster Bob Uecker, the Uecker seats cost a mere dollar to purchase.

That’s awesome bro!! Whenever I comment about this feud I always try to convey how the majority of people I knew back then wanted macho to win & I’m talking the large majority. Obviously it was a hot topic @school lol & it was 80%-20% for macho. It seemed like they were cheering him & the camera flashes were lighting the place up when he went up on the ropes after entering the ring. My point is I’m curious as to what the crowd was like towards macho that night? I can’t see many fans turning on him after that amazing run he was having that entire year. It was long ago I know so you may not remember but I figured I’d ask. I was furious that we were going back to the same old punch kick “hulk up” ending followed by the same old 3poses. The past year we had savage flying all over the ring fast, jumping from the top ropes to the outside, the elbow, over the rope clothesline….etc. Again,it’s awesome that you were there!

I’m sorry cause I’ve already been rambling but let me also say that rewatching this shit after I’ve grown up & matured I now have so much respect & administration for Dibiase! He was amazing in the ring & on the mic. I HATED HIM so much back then! That’s how talented this man was. Amazing!

Fun Fact: New Line Cinema released two movies during the summer of 1989: A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, No Holds Barred. One was a rush job that was literally being written as it was being shot which more or less killed the franchise, the other was a terrible Hulk Hogan movie which was almost entirely rewritten in 36 hours. Guess which one did better at the box office?

I hated, hated, HATED, the Big Boss Man as a kid. However, after re-watching these matches, I have to admit that Boss Man was a fantastic wrestler. His bumps were near perfection and he played the roll of heel to absolute perfection. WWE is missing talent like this in its present state.

What? If you were a kid in the 1980’s of course you hated the Big Bossman when he was a heel. 1980’s kids booed heels. But when he turned babyface…. every kid in america was a Bossman fan.

1:22:12 "Why didn't Liz take her husband's side?" Because at that time it was not yet acknowledged in kayfabe that they were married (as they had been since 1984). They weren't married in kayfabe until two and a half years after this PPV, in SummerSlam '91 when part of the "card" was their on-screen wedding (Savage had flipped back to babyface by then so they could reconcile on screen). That was the "Match Made in Heaven" , the counterpart of the aptly-named "Match Made in Hell" handicap 2 v 3 tag match of Hogan and Warrior against Slaughter, "Mustafa" (Iron Sheik), and General Adnan. Sadly, despite the fans finally getting the payoff of seeing them marry, the actual marriage was in trouble by that point and they divorced in real life just over a year later in August 92, with the WWF actually acknowledging this in kayfabe in a brief statement. And in fact if you listen carefully, despite the clearly shown insane jealously and the implications, there never was any clear and definitive claim on Macho Man's part during the MegaPowers storyline and in the years before that he and Liz were in any kind of romantic relationship at all. He had only ever said she was lovely and his manager, and that Hogan had eyes for her. Liz for her part said she "cared for" both men, and the face announcers would always say how "concerned" she was when either one was in trouble in the ring, but she never stated any romantic interest in either man. It was all very very carefully done, carefully phrased, to not ACTUALLY have a love triangle despite going 90% of the way towards one.

So as to why Goldberg has bodyguards, I’ll reference the movie Predator. When filming the movie the actor who played Billy (Sonny Landham) was a reported drinker and notorious for picking fights and trashing places, so the only way Fox was able to insure him was that they a hire a team of security/bodyguards, not to protect Sonny from others mind you but to protect others and himself from himself. And since Goldberg is a right bellend who likes to break stuff, smash windows with his hand, split his head split open from bashing it into a door and giving a concussion/ ending the careers of a Hall of famer, the security team was to protect Goldberg from hurting himself and others
@vee52946 жыл бұрын
Lads, I love your shows & commentary! Regarding Liz & Savage, they were married in reality, but in kayfabe Liz was just a "manager". When Savage kayfabe asked Liz to marry him & they had the "wedding" - they had actually been married already for 6 or 7 yrs & the relationship was all but over. They split & then divorced a year or so later.
