So finally we got invited back to magnet fish the Royal ordnance depot at Weedon Bec. This was the uk's largest depot for over 150 years dating back to 1803. It supplied armoury for 4 wars and has tons of history.
What I found was unbelievable and it most probably the best thing ever found magnet fishing.

Wow ...Amazing find Nigel ... IMHO IT IS THE BEST FIND EVER !!! You need to start carrying a pair of side cutters in your coat pocket so the next time "GLENN -The Mooch decides to throw his magnet into your treats area ..... Reach into ur pocket grab the side cutters and cut the rope attached to The MOOCH magnet so it plops right into the water that he is trying to steal finds from you !!! He wont do that shit again !! Anywho awesome video and it makes no sense to watch the other videos...lol

Do a bit of mag fish myself in Florida, USA. I have found a method of cleaning items by attaching a negitive DC wire to the object, a positive wire to a stainless ateel electtrode (Can be any piece of stainless.) and applying a volltage from a battery charger. The muck will jump off the object to the stainelss. Add a little baking soda for heavily soiled objects. Cheers!

Well done Nigel on your brilliant finds. Its great to know they will be kept by the on site museum. Just a thought, since the canal seems to be full of interesting stuff, I wonder if the owners /management of the site have considered draining the canal and doing a major clean out and recovery. 👍

Right on ! It's amazing the amount of artillery that is all around from the war. It's also very heartbreaking to know the truth about WW II. I couldn't even imagine what it was like to have lived during that time. So sad. Anyways, wonderful find !

I have the same problem in fishing, they are bottom feeders. I finally just set back and watch them and they ask what's wrong with me. I say I'm waiting for the bottom feeders to leave so I can continue fishing. Then I just walk away because my fun is over. So good luck with your friends. Love your videos. Hate bottom feeders.

You've had some wonderful finds Nigel and you always seem to pick just the right spots to cast your magnet but this has got to be the best (so far) I was delighted to see Rustys reaction to your find @ 27.55, he was genuinely pleased for you and just allowed you to bring up what you could without interference, he even did a small jig out of excitement for you, but I was equally surprised at the others reaction in there attempts at forcing there way into your fishing hole to see what they could get, (I was glad they didn't succeed !) Thanks for bringing this to us and donating to the museum so we can visit and see for our selves your finds. Stay Safe !!

Why would sten guns be dumped in the UK? I thought they were a WW2 German gun aka the grease gun due to the resemblance of a grease gun. Did Britain replicate them during the war?

what a lucky begger...i reckon in the last bit of the war before the barracks were closed they had a load of ordinance they didnt know what to do with, so they dumped it in the boat channels

Hi ya back in the 70s + 80s the firm i work for on plant hire his mate was builder and I went with him quite a few times diging through the concrete for leaks as you should see holes everywhere . The older guys there were telling us that after the war WW11 they dumped a lot of cases of guns grenades and other stuff in that canal if that helps at all.

The "very big tent peg" is a shank for a lathe tool of some sort - the one end of it looks like a Morse taper 4 or similar, and the narrower end could be for a tool holder or it could itself be a mount for e.g. a drill chuck.

My brother would be going mental with joy if he found just 1 of those guns or magazines on one of his weekend trips magnetic fishing, he enjoys a bit of mud larking and recently gave me an old axe head which I reckon is about 80 to 120 years old, so that was a lovely find I just want to make an ornate handle b4 mounting it for display on my lounge wall.

Great video nigel. So glad I was there to witness the find of the century. I've been called a bottom feeder and a vulture lol, if they only knew I was so not affended pmsl. Don't think anyone's gunna beat this find for a very very long time. Congratulations and many more to come
