kept them warm but that color will stand out way too much. They did have white coats though so it begs to question why they also have ones like that. Problem I see is that the bottom edge will get soaked from the snow and drag the soldier down.

FTW 111 this is incorrect the designs for the stahlhelm were taken from midevil European designs. Same thing with the Brodie and the Adrian. Not from the samurai

They "answered the call" because they had no choice. That was also the point of the OP, that the video helps him understand how horrible it had to be, no matter what side you HAD to fight for. And Hitlers vision wasnt that of unified Europe without muslims (or jews) but conquered Europe, without anyone who isnt the purest german. Step by step.

Unification through conquer. If others refuse to be with you then what choice do you have? Hitler didn't want to fight England, or USA(and probably even USSR, USSR attacking first was just a matter of time) he only wanted to take what was german(so Austria, because it was german, parts of Poland because it was former german territory and germans were opressed in there, part of Czechoslovakia since a lot of germans were in Sudetenland, and parts of France as a revenge for WWI... so far it seems only logical, the countries which were attacked after that was either because of preventive strike(USSR) or because there was declaration of war from them(England and France, France was conquered because of that and because of revenge), or because of helping allies(USA)).
