Really helpful video! When you’re saying about having back up contacts incase the host cancels last minute, would you suggests telling the backups that you have something lined up but are interested for the future sort of thing? You said about forming contacts and staying in contact with them but obviously you don’t know if something were to get cancelled so not sure how to go about this. Not sure if that makes sense but thanks anyway!

Hopefully the hosts site covers most all the usual questions. Reading what they have said is useful. Video call required for me.

Thanks for your video! You are very well spoken and this video was clear to understand and helpful! I've been wanting to travel more, but on the volunteering side of travel for a different type of experience. There are so many different programs out there, but I found Workaway becuase it had a very specific volunteer program I was looking for. Wish me luck. I'm still kind of just thinking about it, but I'm so ready for an adventure and getting to know other people! Thanks again for this helpful video!

helpful, engaging, funny, helpful again! thanks! How much of the languages did you speak when you traveled? Did you learn more of the language before or during your stay?
@BigAlAroundTheWorld
@BigAlAroundTheWorld 2 жыл бұрын
I had a very basic level of Spanish and Italian going in and now I’m pretty much fluent! You learn so much by immersing yourself in the language and culture by staying with host families!

There is a problem in volunteer work, which is the language. What if a person does not speak English and wants to travel and volunteer, what should he do?

Hi. Just found your channel. Thanks for the clear info you provided. You speak well in front of the camera. . I am retired an have been wondering about doing this as a way of saving money and learning about other places in the world, not as a tourist ,of course. I have been to some places in Latin America so I am not new at learning new things. Was wondering if there are many older people doing this and if host are interested in having them? I am in my seventies but am not weak or need any assistance. I still do lost of walking and work like painting, yard work cooking among other things. I like doing language exchange. Hey . I know you are not a host but maybe you can comment of this as someone who has experience? Thanks again for the great info!!

I met one Irish guy in his 60s on a farm in Italy! There’s definitely people of all ages I think it just varies based on the hosts and the work they need. I would suggest just asking around to different hosts!

Amazing video, thank you. I was wondering if it is possible to earn money during WWOOFing. Some of your videos you are working in a hostel and was wondering what the processes were to work there
@BigAlAroundTheWorld
@BigAlAroundTheWorld 2 жыл бұрын
Same process just a different website, do everything the same but with workaway.com. They have some paid jobs on that site or if you have a side freelancing job that you could do while you wwoof

Is any of this legal? Working on a farm or in a hostel sounds like having a job. You did say the word "work" quite a few times in this video. Did you get a work visa or work permit from the country you are visiting? Do you know if the business you are volunteering for exhaustively searched for local workers in the area before resorting to using your obscenely cheap labor? I think if you are going to steal jobs from locals the least you could do is donate the prevailing daily wage to a family you stole the job from, for each day worked. Woof woof
