What a rookie season for Wyatt Johnston! Went all the way to the Western Conference Final with the Dallas Stars and tied for 1st in goals scored by a Rookie with Matty Beniers! I really wish he was one of the 3 finalists for the Calder Trophy but you have to give credit to Power and Skinner. They both had amazing rookie seasons!

I wish he was a finalist too but he was a surprise to many especially in the playoffs!

Bold prediction for 23-24: Johnston, 40 goals, Benn 37 goals, Dadonov 32 goals. This will be due to the new sort of "McDavid" line, in Hintz, Robertson, and Pavelsk gaining huge confidence from last season and replacing McDavid/Draistl as the top scoring line in the NHL That means Benn/Johnston/Dadonov get the opponents second or third d-pairings. Marchment/Seguin/Duchene will take a lot of second line heat, I think. This should be an interesting season indeed. The Stars look stacked now.

That is very bold especially coming from those three players! Benn and Dadonov are aging but I see them hitting at least 20 goals. Johnston could get to 30 but honestly he's got the skill to hit 40G someday

@@hatrickanebenn did just have 33. 36 isn’t that wild. But yeah there are some very bold ones in there. Love Wyatt but I think 30 is a bit more realistic. They were already pretty great on offense last year w the 5th best pp and ranked 7th in goals for. I see them having an even better offense this year w the addition of duchene.

@Drakkar_Noir this is true! Duchene will help out depending on where he plays in the lineup. Regardless we'll see how Dallas does. Maybe I'm more recency bias towards Benn in a negative way caz he was suspended in the playoffs

@@hatrickane he made a bonehead play. It was dumb and he deserved the criticism he got but the playoffs are emotional and he’s not the first and won’t be the last. Overall he’s a great captain and outside of that incident he had a good playoffs. This was his best season since 2017-18. Under Pete Deboer’s system he looked like his old self.

@Drakkar_Noir That's true the new coach and ice time on PP1 definitely helped him have a really solid season. We'll see who is linemates will be next year

19 year old came out and bagged 24 in his rookie season with a team that went to the WCF. Still didn't get serious calder consideration. Its a travesty that anybody thought Power and Skinner were more deserving than Wyatt.

Power is understandable because he was a #1 pick and actually had a solid rookie season. It was a decently strong class but when Wyatt produces more points this season, he'll get more recognition around the league hopefully
