Good review and breakdown. I am glad to hear they came back and fixed your issues. I worry about the topper panels on these, as it is wood it will warp, not a matter of if but by how much. If it does warp it is not all glued up and those panels will no longer meet up along that groove. That seems like a huge oversight, please keep us up to date if you see that occur.

As a content creator myself with this channel and my other channel on coins. I can relate to what you required. I am also a staunch Wyrmwood supporter and have not yet purchased a gaming table but I will if all things work in my favour. I purchased their DM screen to use as a resource for reading from scripts on my other channel. I like the tablet tray that comes with it. And the magnetic push pin rail across the top. This video lets me know what I can expect for a table. So thanks.

Enjoying the review. The square bit is a Robertson and is less prone to stripping than a Phillips. I am impressed that Wyrmwood is using that. Most US manufacturing using the Phillips - so frustrating.

On the grub screw inserting onto the deeper holes - just get a magnet and magnetize the tool they give you first. No need to futz account with pushing the grub against the side. Once you get all the stuff aligned on all 4 sides - I’d almost want to use some blue loctite on the grub screws.

I'd be interested in another review after having the table for a year. It does look like Wyrmwood has included the support bars in the newest kickstarter (as a separate purchase)

Great video! I'm a backer for a 96x56" elm table on the second campaign. Wyrmwood has been working on a center brace; however since I have a Festool domino jointer, I will most likely drop in 12-16; dominos without glue or staggered gluing on the plywood; the idea is to promote disassembly while still strengthening the plywood joints. My reservation on a center brace is it interfering with people's knees and it also being visible.
@theMCGuiREreview

I don’t think it would ever interfere with the knees but it would definitely be visible depending on how thick it was.

those cup holders are made like that, a good glue joint will be stronger than the wood itself. I believe watching one of their episodes of wrymlife that they try to make everything with 4in wide boards or something like that

Great review! I am thinking of getting this same table in the next KS. I play 40k, so hoping the vault size will accommodate those games. They def need to fix the middle support, depending on terrain/model positions you could topple a lot of stuff when the middle flexes that much. Has the warped board evened out? I would def ask for topper replacement on the ones that are off, it is a lot of money to not look good/right.

It’s been 13 months now, how are those toppers working out? I’m a hobbies furniture maker and when I think about those toppers with no actual affixing to a trestle base or apron structure, I fear they will sag like a hammock in the middle. The thicker they are the more this will be an issue because they’ll weigh more. I bought some gaming table plans (and a construction tutorial) from a woodworker about 8 years ago and they used homemade veneered panels for their top pieces specifically because they wanted to avoid the warping and sagging of those panels.
@theMCGuiREreview

They have stayed much better than expected. There is some very minor warpage on a couple but what i do to correct is take them all off and lay flat on the ground in a stack with some weight on top for a few days - all perfectly straight again. The storage of them is critical. The only way they will stay without warping when not on table is perfectly straight up compressed together or all laying flat on the floor stacked on top of one another. I do not have a topper block so can’t speak to that.

Did Wyrmwood help you to fix those issues or did you fix them by yourself and how much did it cost? I can see the issue with the plywood surface to be a problem with their narrower board game tables too. They definitely need this big piece to go across the length of the table or even two or three smaller pieces to go across its width where those plywood leaves get connected together. At least this is the case with the Jasper table which is cheaper than the cheapest option of Wyrmwood’s modular gaming table in the same size! I was thinking of backing their next campaign for the regular size tables (not the wide) ones,but watching this video I’m start having my doubts; I mean it’s almost obvious hat those plywood pieces will get warped eventually creating an uneven surface, especially if you leave in a place with a lot of humidity or other factors and this sound like a bummer!

Wrymwood did send me new toppers and my topper situation is fixed - that all looks good now. However, its critical to store the toppers flat (I guess you could get the topper block) but don't lean them against a wall - they will warp. I had some that warped initially just on the table but then they came back after I stored them all stacked on top of each other flat on the ground for a few weeks. Never had a problem since - even back on the table. I also finally found a way to put them in a certain order where they all fit perfectly. To ensure I put them back this way each time, I marked them with numbers underneath. Its wood - this is really not their fault. It's a wide span on that War Gaming table. So a lot of care needs to go with them to keep them in order. The bouncy playboard - no they did not fix this. They would have to manufacture another part for that and it did not seem that was going to happen so I dropped it. Its only an issue when you lean into the center of the table - which you will do when war gaming. Everything else is fine. I would be surprised if this was an issue in anything but the war game table. In time I will fix this myself with a support bracket, just have not gotten around to it yet.

@@theMCGuiREreview It's good that they cared and sent you new toppers and finally this issue was fixed. But it's still a bummer that they didn't do anything for the other part. I'm sure that if you carefully attach another piece in the center and put some screws according to your idea, this will work! Oh man, I'm so hyped with their modular table and it seems so awesome in your video. The maple with burgundy by the way is really great! The thing with the plywood and the lack of support in the middle worries me and reminds me the ancestor of Jasper table which was the Duchess, and had similar issues with the inner surface support, i.e., check here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/na5hZ6dkua24p4E.htmlm . But this was fixed in the next updated version of this table (the Jasper one). This is the only thing that kind of holds me back a bit, but it seems that when the next campaign is on I will pull the trigger! Anyway, thanks a lot for the detailed overview and for showing the small cup holders; they look to me more ideal as well and I think I'm going to order those ones! Another thing I wanted to ask is about the depth of the player vault! It is 4.5 inches which sounds great especially for storing miniature games underneath, but since some tables have less depth, almost half of it, how do you find it in terms of leaning in when playing! Have you experienced any discomfort or even back pain at all?

How strong are the drink holders? Do you feel confident with them holding a 32 ounce drink?
@theMCGuiREreview
@theMCGuiREreview Жыл бұрын
If the cup fits in there thst holds 32 oz then yes. They are held by the magnets and the wood overhang. They are locked in there and you can put some pressure on / you would break the wood before it came off from the weight of a cup with liquid.

Is the wide version too wide for someone to comfortably reach the middle of the table?
@theMCGuiREreview
@theMCGuiREreview 5 ай бұрын
the wide is too wide for everything except War gaming . That is my conclusion at this point. Its not a good experience to actually play board games on - everyone is too far from the actual board and can't properly see the cards. You end up with one person moving everything around and constantly picking up cards to see what they say until you memorize. If I had to do it again, I would get a normal size (Med or large table) - still counter height legs though. Then create a larger light weight topper to extend the top if I wanted to play a war game that required more space. After owning and regularly using it for a couple years now - I can confidently say the wide has not been a good experience for generally gaming.

@@robertyingling8193: I deleted the first comment I had in response here as I thought they actually addressed the issue but when I re-watched the video, it ends with them stating "we don't need a brace"... If they don't want to add a brace, that's fine. Although you are purchasing a table, mind you one of the only ones on the market without center braces, that will feel hallow and bouncy through the middle. I put this in my review video because its true, I have had friends call it out with no prompting, and its annoying every time I lean into the center of the table and it bends down. Its not about the weight you can place on it - the fact it bends under weight and bounces is not a quality feel. The brace is needed for more than just keeping it from snapping in half (I would assume I would never have 200+ lbs of pressure on it - on purpose). Its needed to ensure the board does not bend at all and so there is more structure under the wood dampening that hallow sound. Its needed to make the product a more quality product. They can either accept this and improve the product or continue to make videos trying to prove its not needed. I don't really care - I will be adding the required brace for my table at some point. I made my fare and honest review and I am moving forward. The fact the rest of the table is so high quality and I got it at a amazing price through KS - I really have no other issues - I closed out with them on this a long time ago. I emailed them about it and a few other things that had issues. They corrected the topper issue and admitted they did not consider this center brace issue in the design - they thought the wooden dowels in the MDF would be enough. What is becoming aggravating is people coming here and commenting on how I'm wrong - mind you, people that probably don't even own one of these Wide/War gaming tables (to be clear I am not saying you are doing that - you seem to be providing the videos they are making and I appreciate you posting them here).

these tables are the cheapest on the market, by a ton. Wyrmwood is loosing money on almost every table made. They nearly lost the company on this table. All the stuff they didn't do, is because they literally already included more wood in a table for half the cost of anyone else on the market. They literally brought gaming tables to the masses. They're other tables cost like 10k.
@theMCGuiREreview
@theMCGuiREreview Жыл бұрын
@@justinsciacca3524 :I agree, these tables will give you a huge value for the money - as there is nothing out there this solid (all wood). It has its issues but they are all completely fixable. I really think their pricing is going to go WAY up after this table is released in retail on their website. I mean if they are doing a minimum 3K buy in to even get in on the desk... that thing is not even half the amount of wood as these tables. Unless you completely deck out the desk with all the wood options.

@@theMCGuiREreview I missed the MGT kickstarter the first time around. Watching Wyrmlife now, when that MGT 2.0 kickstarter hits, I'm expecting nearly double the cost pretty much across the board. Cost vs value of what you get will be way less favorable. Not sure if I will actually commit to a table anymore, no matter how much I like the looks of the Padauk. The potential bending/warping issues of the Wargaming size also worry me a bit now, lol.

It’s a good catch and they’re happy to replace it under their Craftsman’s Promise. All but one of my panels had warpage (bad batch?), so I had your trampoline effect on my toppers! One of the replacements was warped, but like you said, I could find a combination of toppers that got me 98% there and I’m happy with what I have
