Thanks for the video. I have been considering this model but like my other regular motion lights, I wanted to be able to set the lights to go OFF after a few minutes. You are the only one to mention that you CAN do this. Even the Wyze site doesn’t tell you if this is possible. Almost everyone states that you can do dusk to dawn or leave on all the time. Now I will purchase. Thanks again.

@@zl4346 rarely do I have to reboot it with the circuit breaker. I do need to put a memory card in there. I like that I can have the light at it’s dimmest level, as to not be bright to neighbors. I still think this was a great purchase

Just to let you know, that I installed the same floodlight camera. I had the same issue with it reading the QR code on my phone. I redid it on my tablet and it worked great, only took about 20 seconds to read it. Just wanted to give you a heads up. Loved the video,

Very tempting to be honest. What I'd love to see, but never will because it would require specific wiring that most people won't have to the box (both a hot and a switched leg) is a floodlight that can be motion controlled for use with a camera and controlled by a switch for manual use. Also there's no ground/earth coming from the light because it's double insulated plastic. The only metal you could come in contact with is the mounting screw which is grounded to the box.

A separate floodlight and a separate camera will be the easiest set up if you want the lights switch controlled.

LH, thanks for the Wyze flood/camera video review, all your video reviews are a pleasure to watch.. I'm coming up on big security decision next 7 days, new house construction going on right now. High power electrical 110/220V going in last 2 weeks, low voltage next week! If you were me would you go with Reolink 8 or 12 camera setup with wired etherent and separate powerful wired flood lights or add to my indoor 2 camera Wyze ecosystem with 6-8 of these outdoor Wyze floodcams?....thanks Vince

I've had the same QR issue with my v3 cams and doorbell. I literally screen capped my code on my phone, emailed to myself and printed it out, it works. Have to be quick though or the code expires and you have to start the process over. They released a patch in a firmware update for the same prob on my doorbell but it wasn't helpful because you can't get the update without reading the code first for setup.

I experienced the same issue with regards to the camera not reading the code while connected to the flood light rig and also when disconnected, but I found after some experimenting , if I lowered the amount of light in the room, the camera was better able to read the screen on my phone. Just some FYI for anyone else having an issue with this.

I have the Wyze Cam Floodlight as well and had the same issue with the included Cam v3. But I was able to setup it up with the v3 setup QR code instead of the Floodlight setup QR code. Hope that make sense

Main issue with this is that there is no integration with the light so it doesn't automatically adjust itself to the sudden brightness any faster than it does with any other floodlight. In our case, for the area around our back porch, it means that animals walking by are almost out of frame by the time it adjusts from being blown out to ramping down to correct exposure.

I also got a defective V3. It worked at first, but then got stuck in an endless boot loop. I was disappointed in Wyze support - they had me try the same troubleshooting over and over, and I had to ask several times for them to send me a replacement before they finally did. That being said, I own about two dozen Wyze products and that was the only one I’ve had issues with.

I know this is 5 months old, but to help others I will post my remedy to this. I had an issue with a product and told them I was fed up with it and boxed it up already, so I couldn't do any further trouble shooting. I said please send return label and they did. Took one 5 minute chat session.

I will say that I like how the floodlight is based of a wyze cam v3 like the blink floodlight unlike the ring and the Eufy witch is a all in one but I don’t consider this as like an add on accessory that that other one that makes floodlight for cameras for that other floodlight that you hook a camera to

Your video answered all the questions that WYZE could not. I had the same issue that the v3 camera out of the box was defective. WYZE has no instructions for removing the bad camera or installing the new camera. They first just sent me a v3 camera. I had no idea how to disconnect the bad camera as I thought it was all hard wired to the floodlight. WYZE did not provide any information so I convinced them to send me the whole floodlight with camera which they did. After your video I was able to connect the new v3 without having to uninstall the whole floodlight. You should send your video to WYZE. I have installed over 20 WYZE cameras and this was the only time I had a problem.

So Lifehackster, what is the one brand you use in your house still? I'm almost sure it's the Ringo ecosystem but just wanted to check. I'm starting over from Blink, good system but need something else with more features. Started down the Ring path till Wyze brought out the Wyze floodlight cam and I was blown away by the quality of the video. I'm still learning with Ring for the Smartthings integration, response time, and battery powered spot lights. I'm also thinking about the Lamp socket for $50 and the places I can use it around the house, lot cheaper than the Ring spot light.

How would you compare this to a ring floodlight, I have 2 ring floodlights at my parents house and they have been working flawless for 4 years and have been fantastic. I’m moving and need to put 1 floodlight in the new place and i was wondering if I should save money with the wyze or go for the ring.

I like the camera and the new v3 cam is very good, but I wish I could control the light outside of the app. What I don't know is if a wyze switch would allow this. If so that is one potential work around. Another might be using an Alexa trigger but the light does show up in that integration, just the cam. I may just have to go back to my old setup of a separate floodlight on a switch with the camera next to it.

be aware that if you do not have a very strong Wi-Fi signal at the location of the floodlight camera you are going to have nothing but problems connecting with the camera. especially after you get a warning that it has detected a person, sometimes it goes through several cycles of trying to connect until you can finally see what is on the camera and by then if you have a burglar it is it's going to be too late. not a single reviewer has mentioned the need for having a very strong Wi-Fi signal at the location of the flood light.

the only problem i have of these led floodlights is that they only last a couple of thousand hours . i believe this wyze floodlight leds last about 50,000 hours . sure that’s a lot of hours but still after the leds run out then you’ll need to replace the whole floodlight now . i wish you could be able to replace the leds when they run out

I want a metal build on the main floodlight like I don’t expect the entire camera but I want a metal build and even a replaceable light considering that this is not your $20 dumb floodlight and even that is made from a metal build and I’d be willing to have that extra ground wire and considering this more of a permeant solution

I think Wyze plus Camplus and that great night vision is good place to start if you never own a security camera. The night vision on V3 is very good for such a cheap camera and this spot light seems to be very brite . My gripe with this floodlight is it may white wash out the perp when the light blast them. 2nd draw back is just having a regular plug in floodlight like ring does now. i know alot of people might pass on this cause of the install .

The starlight sensor doesn't really need a lot of light. You can adjust where the floodlight faces and lower the brightness depending on your situation.

Great demo, but I believe you were moving a bit fast for the camera to catch /focus your face but it seems is the same with other cameras as well as they take milliseconds to grab a good focus.

Can you add 3rd or 4th cameras? I remember in older models they had daisy chain options. Not sure on these. Any ideas? Also if LED dies there is no replacement like changing bulb. So unit needs to be trashed. Or am I wrong?

This is a great video. Very informative however mine doesn't have the options you are showing in the setting. Wyze is no help. I don't know if you monitor your comments box but that is one of the reasons I selected this product. Any help would be appreciated. Do I have to subscribe to Wyze to get this feature?

How did your replace the defective V3 with a separate one you had? Looks like the V3 for the floodlight is pre-assembled with a non-removable connectivity to separate it from the floodlight.

The standard junction box will work but you just need to line it with foam gasket on the back of the floodlight or caulk it after installing to weather resistance.

The floodlight at 50-100% exposes the sensor’s limited dynamic range. The highlights get blown out and unfortunately the highlights are people. It seems that Wyze would do better with low voltage landscape lighting vs. high powered floodlights.

@@gottria better than what? If the camera is blowing out facial features when subjects are close to the camera and floodlights the value of the footage is reduced. Their AI should be able to recognize a face and when they do they should meter the exposure for faces instead of the entire frame.

@@Stealther Better than Ring. I hade the Floodlight Plus and I couldn't read my plate on my car that was parked n the driveway and the camera under the eves. Swapped with the Wyze Cam Floodlight and plate is now visible. I so wanted to go with all ring products but I'm just struggling with the quality of vides.

@@LifeHackster thanks for the reply! I was hoping you would be getting it before the introductory price is over. I am hesitant because the image quality should be comparable to the current V3 Pro? I am starting to migrate to Reolink cameras because of you, and kind of thinking Reolink will make a 120 volt hardwired version of the duo 2, with brighter spotlights. That would probably a better option than the Wyze Floodlight Pro.

unfortunately for the time being i’ll have to use the wyze cam floodlight , i’m not really looking forward to it bc i currently use 2 v3 at my house and the v3’s have some problems that no one seems to talk about . delayed notifications, i receive them about 15-20 seconds wayyy to late. the detection zone is terrible , the rigid boxes do not work . false alerts , i have a camera wounded to my window facing my front yard and at night i will get constant false alerts from every single car that passes by my house because the camera gets triggered by the cars lights . terrible AI, i get some motion events listed as pets for a person , person as a vehicle etc etc . the camera cannot focus when the lights are bright . i know it’s only $35 but the camera really had me with high expectations. for now i’ll be using the floodlight because it’s $100 and i can add an additional v3 for coverage but i’m really not looking forward to it .

Does anyone know how to enable access of the V3’s timeline to shared access users. I’ve add authorized users to be able to see and monitor the activity on my cameras but they are unable to see the continuous recordings. They can only view clips

I agree but it's a balance between quality and cost. Before they go 2K, they should first fix their software. The AI labeling is terrible!

@@Resist4 I've had people come to the front door labeled as "Motion Events" instead of people so I understand what your talking about

@@Moes_Prep_and_Tech I get dogs labeled as vehicles and vehicles labeled as just motion. And often doesn't label people but labels parked vehicles. It was supposed to be learning but clearly it's not, no matter how many clips I send Wyze. They just don't know how to do software right.

My biggest complaint was the 500 decibel announcements during setup. 85 dB, 1 foot from my head, on a ladder. WTF Wyze. I went to this from Blink bc I needed to see movement at the end of my long driveway. It has a weaker wifi antenna than the Blink floodlight cam. I tried to reach Wyze, no dice.
